@robo-ant
Use "Internet" (in the Prefs drawer) to create a new interface, if you are using the usual DHCP, then there is very little configuration to do. It's remarkably simple.
I had the same experience with the internet wizard thingy and went round in circles with it for some time. It is a bit missleading and unhelpful when it comes to ethernet and didn't work for me either.

Thanks for the link, both nice themes. But found with the blue that the column names disappear if viewing a drawer by name rather than icon. Using gray theme at minute, nice look.
Tasty wallpapers too. Thanks!

Stuff that seems a bit redudant (to me anyway): Picasso96Mode PlayCD (TuneNet plays CDs anyway) MEmacs
Doesn't really work: IconEdit - doesn't seem to work with the OS4 icons?
Prefs drawer is tricky to navigate, especially if you are new to OS4, e.g. difference between input and amigainput, AHI or Sound? 3 printer prefs. Quite a few prefs programs with similar names/functions, difficult to know where to find different options sometimes.
Something that would be nice improvement: enhanced trashcan with ability to restore files to original location, handling files with same name, trashcan.docky in AmiDock.

No not part of OS, seperate install. AmiUpdate updates itself, no need to ever go to the website. Although I've tried it out, decided not to install on my system.
Top 10: 1. OWB 2. Celestia 3. Tunenet 4. SimpleMail 5. ADRipper 6. ArtEffect4 7. LoView 8. Quake2 9. DvPlayer 10.
Couldn't think of a tenth... anyone?

ok, but as we are not M$ and we don't have tons of developers, if you have to choice, would you choice for a better performance with what we have now, or you prefer to have new features but with these performance. With these performance i mean take no full advantage of the current hardware available?..
Better performance with what we have now should be priority, e.g. things like improved 3D drivers, USB2.0. These will be important if x1000 is to have any success. Bug fixing is important, people will be disappointed if they buy an x1000, find the OS buggy (not that it is on sam440) and basic things like USB have to run at lower speed because of shortfalls in drivers, etc. Other than that, a tidy up and update existing parts of the OS, like prefs and the clock would be nice. Maybe removing some redundant bits and pieces to help keep the footprint small.

@djrikki I use the OS4.1 default theme with 'effects' turned on in GUI perferences. I'm happy with this theme and have yet to try any others since having the sam440. So my WB probably isn't of much interest! Not a big fan of Amiga-related wallpapers, you can have too many boing balls. They tend to me a bit 'tasteless', although there are a few good ones, I have one called 'outsider' but don't use as not widescreen - boing balls looked naff stretched. This one also quite calssy, http://www.amiga-look.org/artwork/curve but same problem with aspect ratio. Just bare in mind the silent (or not in my case) majority who are probably happy with how OS4.1 looks out of the box . Anyway, maybe you could work in conjuction with http://www.amiga-look.org as they have a nicely deisgned website, but not a huge amount of content at presnt.

Yeah sure all them things are valid and should be given more priority, grey is fine, but a darker grey would be more appropriate to bring the blue and white text more into focus and stand off from the background; eg. listing files in a folder as a list.
White text on white background? Agree about the light blue on grey issue, only recall coming across this in YAM though. But I think that is something YAM developers should really address and change default settings in YAM to present emails on white with black text, with the widely used royal blue for links.

Never! Such talk is heracy! Seriously though, I like the grey. The grey should stay , find it easier on the eye personally and is very much part of the OS look. Changing it would probably have unforseen consequences and be more trouble than its worth, besides would rather OS4 developers spent time on other things like USB2, bluetooth, improving prefs, etc.

@Raziel
Agree, an Installer should just install software, no eye candy. Developers should do their best to avoid installer scripts where possible. It's so much nicer to unpack an archive, put the program wherever you fancy and run it without leaving a trail of files in various drawers around Workbench, adding to startup sequence, etc, as installers often do.

Might try your startup-sequence solution to boot hanging at splash screen because of no network. Also find that annoying when the router has happened to be turned off for some reason, scary first time and had me thinking the Workbench partition might be corrupted.

Found a bug with Access.docky, when dealing with multiple screens. When ArtEffect screen is open and I jump back to ArtEffect from Workbench using Access.docky, a list of the various windows open in ArtEffect is given, one is: [no title] 0,0 1360x768. When clicking this option it takes you back to ArtEffect screen, but screen title bar and depth gadget are lost so you can't get back to Workbench without quiting ArtEffect.
Minor I know, but annoying, thought I ought to report for the record.

LinCity works well here, took the risk and downloaded a while back, nice to download and be able to run without getting extra data files etc as is often the case with ports. It's definately a game you have to learn and I still am very much a learner. Will upload a grab running on Workbench the in image album here or OS4depot if possible.

Experience same glitch with tiny window but does open out into a larger window on it's own accord, guess this is down to GUI elements taking a long time to load.
