Internet News

Hello Amiga users past and present

After feedback from many in the Amiga Community, the team at AmigaOS.net have taken all your suggestions on-board to deliver a truly unique experience.

We'd like to announce that AmigaOS.net has undergone a complete face lift to give a completely new look and feel.

Visitors will now be greeted with a Workbench style layout and design.

There have been plenty of changes 'under-the-hood' especially in the download area and news pages to allow us to add new content more frequently and easily.

Over the course of the next couple of months there will be more much video content added to the website thanks to the arrival of a Sam 460ex Complete System at the AmigaOS.net 'office'; subsequently more software will be appearing in the download section.

A quick reminder you can submit your own software to the site using the web form inside the Apps section of the website. Please be aware that AmigaOS.net reserves the right to accept or decline any application; we are looking for exclusively modern software that has some real end-user use with a complimentary look and feel of a modern hardware platform.

* Sorry, but we will not accept shell programs as they are clearly not applications in the modern sense.

There are however a couple of known layout problems we are trying hard to address, but we chose not to delay bringing the new website to you any further.

* Priority: Lightbox Overlay width issue (all browsers affected)
* Minor: All content flush left (opera only)

I do hope you all enjoy the look and feel of the new site, regardless of the Lightbox issue I do hope you enjoy the new look.

If you have any feedback positive or negative, please PM on this forum or alternatively contact us on info@amigaos.net.

Thank you

Still can't understand why Wookiechat is missing from the site.

@Mikey_C

I'll include it soon when my Sam 460 arrives next week, I am quite particular about the colour theme so I'd rather do it myself when I have access to actual AmigaOS, Jahc is a busy man, I need to redo SabreMSN as well. Main points are to change background from Black to White and sort the text out so it can be read on a lighter background.

@ChrisH, ah posted a second before me, correct answer.

 Re: AmigaOS.net gets a real face lift
The "bright & airy" look is certainly an improvement over the "black" theme, and it seems better organised too. Some random thoughts:

1. Why aren't any AmigaKit Sam systems shown?

2. Seems to run a fair bit slower on OWB now, and in fact doesn't render quite right in some places maybe due to CSS :(

1. I don't know what the case is called, it doesn't appear to have a name. I'll just wait til next week to find out.

2. It renders okay in Safari which is of course WebKit, that's another thing I'll be able to see for myself next week. In fact I just noticed some remnants I left in place so I could code the pages in tandem, black boxes around icons shouldn't be there on the download pages. 2 minute job to do. Done, much better. :)

Under Firefox it cuts letters in the descriptions. Tonight I'll give it a go under OWB.

There is a layout problem with FF4. Here is a screenshot.

 Re: AmigaOS.net gets a real face lift
It is okay in actual FF, that appears to be IceWeasel... according to the application's title bar.

Doesn't appear to be taking any notice of the textarea's 'cols' property.

 Re: AmigaOS.net gets a real face lift
Ooops, sorry, forgot to tell is under Debian, so, yes, Iceweasel it is. 4.0

With Opera, again in Debian, it is the same, but with Chromium it is displayed correctly.

@emeck
Your IceWeasel/FireFox rendering bug is very similar to the problem I noticed with OWB.

 Re: AmigaOS.net gets a real face lift
@ChrisH

So it could be then a bug of those browser's engines and not with his page's code...
