What type of usb transfer?

If you are talking usbmassstorage then one of the programs that can measure diskspeed might work.

Other types of device might require completely different types of program to evalutate the speed of transfer.

I am trying to measure the true USB speed whilst copying large files from an external hard drive. Currently I look at how fast the free space on the destination drive decreases to guesstimate things...

Just time a typical copy then and divide by the number of megabytes
