In UNIX style paths the '/' at the beginning refers to the root directory.

Strictly speaking AmigaDOS does not have a root directory (there are root directories for each volume but that's not the same thing).

The closest thing to a root directory would be the global DosList which contains assigns, devices and volumes which is why "/blah/..." is converted to "blah:..." when UNIX path semantics are enabled in clib2/newlib.

If you are using unix paths you should use

./game/mygame

where "." represents the current directory.
