Hello again Chris,
I think all of my USB gamepads are standard HID devices. I´m sure the one i use the most (it´s a leadership branded one, small pc controller) is HID compliant. And it doesn´t work.
I´ll have to wait a little bit to post on the Hyperion forums, as it seems that the registration guy is on vacation. That´s what Hans-Joerg said me.
But as soon as i have access i´ll do it!
In the meantime i´ve got lots of replies on AW.net, and i´m just waiting for some free time to try the gameport of a Soundblaster PCI soundcard.
I´m also looking at an adapter called "Retro Adapter". It seems to be very nice, but it´s unconfirmed the OS4 compatibility. I want to test it, so i´m looking for the parts to do it myself.
Another user told me about the Stelladapter, but some people said (on other forums) that it has some lag...
I´m planning to start a list of the confirmed working gaming devices for OS4. If i really do it, i´ll let you guys know.
Thanks for your replies, man!

Hello Chris,
Yes, but i can't calibrate the device.
In fact, the device appears as "not working", what i find strange.
I understand the need for drivers to enable specific USB gaming devices support, as they need to be recognized. But I thought that gameport would be just te case to plug the device and play a game? It's analogic device after all.
In other site i made the same question, one person told that the Pegasos gameport is not supported by AOS4.1, as far as he knows.
Can someone confirm this? If it's true it's really sad! I was counting on it because the USB gaming device support is still buggy, and i don't want to spend more money in USB gamepads. I already have enough of them, but unfortunately none that is compatible with OS4...
Thanks!

Hello guys,
The title say it already.
I tried everything i could think to make AOS4.1 update 2 to recognize my analog joystick plugged in the Pegasos 2 gameport, but haven't succeeded.
Do someone here knows how to use the gameport on OS4?
Just to be of reference, it works very well in MorphOS (even in MOS 1.4), and all i have to do is plug the joystick and run a game or E-UAE, etc.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks man!
In fact i´m not very tempted to buy another controller. I have already a lot of USB controllers and find it very annoying that any of them work on AOS4.1 (at least on Pegasos 2)...
I just thought yeaterday, but haven´t time to test yet, would Poseidon work in OS4? Maybe i could override the OS4 native USB Stack and use Poseidon instead? I know this is crazyness, and that´s not the kind of things i like to do. But i have at least 3 gamepads that are know to work with Poseidon...
Apart from that, i really would like to know how to make the Gameport work in Pegasos. Or maybe it´s not supported?
Thsnks for the help!

Gaming controllers on Pegasos 2 running AmigaOS 4.1.2

Hello guys, I don´t post a lot over here. But have been reading a lot lately, because only now i managed to acquire a Pegasos 2 board, and installed my new copy of AOS 4.1 in it. The main problem so far is with game controllers. I tried 2 USB gamepads. One of them, an older one (can´t remember the brand) freezes the computer, and i have to reboot. The other one is brand new, but a cheaper one. It´s from Leadership. It works flawlessly on MorphOS, but on AmigaOS4 i can only use the buttons. When i try to calibrate the gamepad it says there´s some problem with the x-y axis, and indeed it doesn´t work. So i decided to try the Gameport with an older analog joystick. But when i open the AmigaInput prefs with the Joystick Attached (althought counter advised, i tried even to plug the joystick after the computer is on, and the OS4 is running), the gameport driver shows the "Not Working" status. I´m really lost here, as i thought that the gameport couldn´t go wrong in any way. Is there something i´m overlooking? Also, is there some list of tested gaming devices on AmigaOS 4.1? Right now i´m mostly interested in having the gameport working, as this way i can use an adapter for digital joysticks, and plug in my prefered "Amiga" joysticks Thanks a lot for any help!

Hey guys, I?m back with another hairy question Do you guys know if there are any way to change the boot priority of the partitions on a Harddrive by a shell command? I have 4 OSes in my A4000 HD, and it?s too boring having to select it via Early Startup Menu all the time i want to boot into a different installation. Or even have to boot into any installation to run HDToolBox to change it before i can boot the system a want to use... As you guys know any of these systems, given to patches and improvements, have to reboot the machine at least once (so there are 2 boot time delays). So i have to press the two mouse buttons at least twice. My AOS3.9 install boots 3 times. It?s really boring and not pratical. I would like to do a simple script that could work like a boot selector, changing the partition that have the system i want to use, to the higher priority. I don?t need to check what priority the partition have. I just need to set it. Thank you!

You may be right!
I?ve thought of this too, and this may be the problem.
I?ll try some different cabling and drives. If i manage to solve the problem i?ll let you guys know

@HammerD
That?s interesting.
And it?s almost the same problem i have.
I can read anything from the drive, and it?s healthy data.
But anything related to writting to the drive returns an error. I can?t partition the drive, can?t format partitions, can?t save files, etc.
But now i just remembered... I?ve installed this same drive with the same bridge once with Mediatoolbox. The created partitions and formatted them. But had some problems seeing the last bigger partition in other AOS versions...
I?ll make some tests with other drive to see what i discover.
Thank you guys very much for the help!

@ChrisH
That?s what i suspect.
But i don?t think there?s really a problem with the adapter, as it works fine in MOS and previous AOS.
Anyway, i?ll try other HDs, as this one is 2.5", and there?s even other adapter before the bridge. I don?t think this is the problem, but you never know...
Thanks for your reply!

Write protected partitions with SCSI -> IDE Bridge

Hello Guys,
I?ve just bought a SCSI-IDE bridge interface (R-IDSC-E) and it works perfectly on AmigaOS 3.1 and AmigaOS 3.9.
This bridge adapter has a 50pin SCSI interface. I?m using a 68pin to 50pin adapter.
The problem is with AmigaOS 4 for classic.
I?m running it on my A4000 CPPC, Mediator Voodoo 4.
I can boot on OS4 using the bridge. The Amiga can read anything from the disc, no problems. But when i try to write anything to any of the partitions it says the drive is write protected.
I have 5 partitions. Two of them are FFS (OS3.1 and OS3.9) and the other 3 are SFS.
Partition Wizard report the SFS partitions as "Read Only" and the FFS ones as "Read/Write". But despite that all of them can?t be written to. The SFS ones the system returns a "volume is write protected" error message, and the FFS ones returns another error message i can?t remember, but it?s a number (52 i think).
I imagine this problem is related with the adapter not translating some info from the drive to the SCSI bus correctly, as it works perfectly on the other installs (OS3.1 and OS 3.9 as i said before).
Have someone experienced anything like that before? Any ideas to solve this?
Thanks!!

Like the one in your avatar ? Here i've never saw any of this particular model, but the standard model is used by particular drivers, that offer an alternative, colective transport. Like the bus, but cheaper Regards.

The you've probably just been adopted a very unusual family. Welcome.

I'm quite pleased so far At least this family is polite, and don't troll as much as some other families around the web (unfortunately for them).

Nah . . . nothing so exotic about Brazil Except for the wheater. I wish we had a cold wheater here sometimes, for a change. But i'm sure that European people wish they had the Brazilian warmt sometimes for a change too. Seems that we are never satisfied enough

First of all, I appologize for using this forum for this purpose, but I think it's the only way for me right now. Also, I'm not sure this is the right forum section to post this, so Moderators, please move this to the apropriate space if it's wrong, and forgive me Sooner this week (Sunday if i remember correctly), i tried to login on the Hyperion's website using my account, to download the OS4 update for Cyberstorm. But i couldn't remember my password for that account. So i decided to click in the "lost Password" link, and now i regret it badly Seems that this procedure resets the password, and send an e-mail to the user with a new, temporary password, so the user can access the account to make the desired changes. Unfortunately my account on Hyperion's website seems to have outdated info, with an outdated e-mail address, as i didn't received any e-mail from the website so far. So i tried to contact the webmaster (JoergF e-mail), asking for help so i could validate my account again, but again, no reply so far. Tried to contact Mr. Timothy De Groote (he has been very kind helping me in the past) with my sad story, but he didn't replied too. As this forum seems to be the place to meet some Hyperion staff ocasionally, i decided to write this message in the hope that someone at Hyperion can help me, or someone that have contact to those guys can forward them my cry for help. I really appreciate any help on this matter. Thanks !
