I have an A1222 and I get a crash when I try to start pixy or even if I open the readme file.

Different crashes, I can kill the program with the readme crash but with the pixy crash it opens up the program screen and freezes. I can open other programs after this though.

Language: English

OS4.1

Run from HD

@Reynolds

I too have an A1-XE, which I haven't used for quite some time. It was never a very stable machine for me but I remember I had it running nicely at one stage under AOS4.0. I never switched off for two years!

After the OS went to 4.1, it didn't seem to be as stable, but I have no idea why not.

I do remember I had a Soundblaster fitted. I also have a Terratec sound card. I wanted to swap it for the SB as I wanted to use that in an A1200 with Mediator but never got around to it.

I also had a SIL IDE card, which worked fine,.

I never managed to get good results using an AGP card for video. I tried several different cards but usually fell back to a Radeon 7000 in one of the lower standard PCI slots, as that also seemed to make a difference.

Reading this thread has enthused me to try to bring the old girl back to life, too.

Linux Graphics card support A1222Plus
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi guys,

I'm a A1222 Plus user, have been since they were first generally available, last April and I like my machine.

I'd like to be able to dual-boot into Linux, too, and I know that won't work with a Radeon RX card.

Does anyone know the highest Radeon HD card supported?

I'm thinking, maybe HD7770

A1222Plus: Reloading OS4.1 A precautionary tale
Just popping in
Just popping in

I'd been having a few (self imposed) problems with my OS 4.1 installation, so I decided I would reformat the SSD and start afresh.

I reinstalled the SSD and recreated the partitions, including an OSRecover partition, so I had another option in case of boot problems. So now I have DH1: Workbench, DH1: Work and DH2: OSRecover.

I then rebooted from the USB Installation media and, using the OS4.1.iso, reloaded the OS on both DH0: and DH2: and then the Enhancer software, so I definitely had the Radeon RX driver.

The system went through the normal boot sequence but then wouldn't show the workbench. Rebooted using the OSRecover partition, same thing!

Long story short - I RTFMed, followed the flaming instructions and used the provided shell script to reinstall the OS. Bingo!

The moral of the story is definitely....RTFM!!

@Boabster
I have an A1222+, but one I built myself into a Checkmate case. However, I bought the same SSD,Graphics card, etc as AAA specify, except for 8Gb RAM, rather than 4Gb.
I have left my system on overnight and it hasn't turned off.

So does the amount of RAM on the graphics cards make any difference to the framerate?
