Re: A NEW Printer for the SAM

@Slayer

Postscript-printers are in general a bit more expensive than others, but the difference is decreasing. The Brother HL-5240 for example is a b/w Laserprinter with Postscript for about 200 swissfrancs (~170 US$). And it has both a parallel- and an usb-port. The HP 2550 is a Color-Laserjet (~450 US$) with a parallelport. But there are many other PS-Printers ...

Move the Printer named Postscript (its the driver) from the Storage/Printers-Dir to the Devs/Printers-Dir, if it isnt still there. And then you use the Printer-prefs and the PrinterPS-prefs. That should work with all PS-printers.

I hope that helps. Best regards
Toni

@Slayer

Here (on a ?A1) are Postscript-printers working: HP Colorlaserjet 2550 and Brother HL-5240, both connected to a printserver using lpr-device. Advantage: I can use the OS4-PS-drivers.

I'm not shure what you mean; i'm using dvips for ps-output and gsview for ps-preview.

@salass00

Me outing as long-time-LaTeX-user: MaxonTeX (former AmigaTeX) is working on OS4, with preview and printerdrivers. I would like porting PasTeX to OS4, but i have no skills nor in C/C++ nor in porting, and my sparetime is limited (job, family, life).

On OS4 Final nothing, but on upd4 I have an ETH3COM file dated 6/10/2006.
Which I believe is when I connected my A1 to the Router.

In Devs:networks there is an eth3com.device on each installation,
but they are different size files, so I wonder where/how the ETH3COM file in Devs:netinterfaces came from.

I had to copy the file ETH3COM from upd4 to OS4 Final. Otherwise you have to
setup your Internet-Connection ('New Connection') from scratch.

What is the content of Sys:Devs/Netinterfaces (that was my first-step-error)?

i have summarized the thread in post #1.
feel free to point out errors and such.

Problem: Shell crashes
Solution: Iso or CDRW were corrupted. New Iso and CDRW (and new installation) solved the problem.

Hi

I will download and burn the install-CD on a PC and then we shall see ...
Now it works! I'm surprised, that a corrupted Install-CD is capable to start und install the system :).

I agree, but what could be wrong, when booting from install-CD shows the same behaviour?

Starting the Shell shows the GR, after clean install on a formated partition. The shell though works ok. Even booting from the OS4-Intall-CD shows the same GR.
