I am using s sii680 card and have deactivated the internal ide ports, but I will try PIO mode on the sii680.

I am actually thinking of looking for a Sam460 or maybe a X1000 and then selling on the A1-XE.

Well, I have now tried my RadeonHD 5450 card and I am getting to the same spot as Swisso.

The kickstart modules load, and then the display stays on that screen with just a flashing cursor to indicate the display has not just frozen up.

I know putting in a RadeonHD to an A1 is not very practical, but I had the spare card doing nothing and purchased the PEX8111 bridge cheaply. The only other expense was the RadeonHD driver, and it is one small way I can support developers.

I will keep at it and hope for some progress.

I am planning to add a pci to pci bridge to my A1 (Just for the sake of it).

Is there any update or resolution on the issues in this thread?

For extra USB ports on my A1, I am using this..

It connects to the USB header on the motherboard. Does the SAM have the USB pins or only the backplate USB connectors?

It runs for me, but I get the following error message.

Audio.device: IO request size too small, refusing to open

Graphics publisher prints fine. I then tried to print from Notepad and instead of the whole computer locking up, just NotePad locks up with no printer output.

If I print using a basic HP driver and not starting Turboprint, then NotePad prints fine.

I then start TurboPrint, try to print the same thing from NotePad that is still open, and I get the lock up.

So it seems to be a conflict between NotePad and TurboPrint when used in 4.1 update 1. I had no problems with previous OS versions.

I have the same problem as you. Any text printing from Notepad locks up the computer and I don't even get any printer output, but graphics printing and other things are OK.

Turboprint 7.6 via lpr.device

A1-XE(G3) 512 Mb RAM

OS 4.1 update 1


I have tried printing from GraphicsPublisher first and then Notepad, but NotePad still locks everything up and I have to do a hard reset.
