@kas1e To be honest with you this is a result of things becoming more complicated and developers tend to use frameworks based on JS, to speed up the development. Having in mind that they don't need to optimise anything, because of fast internet and strong computers with a guge amount of ram and plenty of cores, and since noone cares about if it runs on anyones machine as it should. So yeah. Bloated websites with no reason.
And have in mind that everything run on user machine. That's also something that helps to scale to thousands of users at the same time.
I built Mixer.com and Twitch.tv with no CSS and no JS at aiostreams.amiga-projects.net in less than a week, just by using their APIs. The website is super fast and works everywhere without being CPU and memory hungry. The framework I used is based on an up to date PHP framework called Lumen, which is based on Laravel. Everything is running on the server and is super light for the user. The final result is the same, but of course it doesn't look that good. But the thing is that the user wants to find a stream to watch. An he can do that on plain HTML, with the same info presented.

@BobSacamano I never had a Sam, but have in mind that X5000 has the twice the CPU speed than Sam, faster memory and can use more powerful graphics cards. Totally different systems and for sure X5000 is winning on every point. Even the A1222 is faster than Sam460 for the above reasons, although that the CPU has pretty much the same clock speed.

@BobSacamano Unfortunately, the editor behind generationamiga.com does not do any research before post something on his website. He tries always to put as many posts as possible, without check in details. I don't trust most of the news posted there.
The available version of GemRB is an old one, and I hope we will see a newer version ported.

Hello guys. There are a few issues running Blender v248.7 with the latest MiniGL4GL4ES v3.5, where no texts are visible in blender and no menus seem to work. Is it a know issue? Is there a possibility to have a fix for that?

Hello Paul, I am sure you are going to have a blast when you first use your new machine. It is years ahead of the A1 XE. Especially those graphics cards.
If I were you, I would ask AmigaKit to get a compatible Gfx card and add it in the machine. Otherwise you may end up with one that is not 100% compatible.
But if I had to choose, I would prefer the RX 550, as it seems to be the most compatible and reccomended right now.

Since there is a permission from the original developers to open source the code, this should be already somewhere available, IMO, at it's original form, before the changes of OS4 and MorphOS developers. After that, if anyone wants to contribute, or create a fork, that could be possible.
After so many years keeping such code closed no newer versions and constant maintenance happened. So, I am saying that it is better to be open and let the community contribute, and decide the future of the app.
@smf To return to a shell IRC client, like the very good irssi, on a machine that influenced the GUI IRC clients, for me is no go. Even more that irssi is not available for OS3 & 4, or at least I couldn't find an available release.
Maybe you are right and we should focus on Wookiechat, which is already open sourced. But I am not sure how possible it is to make it more stable.

Hello everyone. An AmigaOS 4 compatible version of AmIRC used to be available from OS4Depot, but long gone. This cannot be found on Aminet as well. Although I have that version, I would like to know if someone has the code, or if it is available anywhere. Is anyone maintaining that code? Is there a possibility to see newer versions?

I was watching Kas1e's awesome video and I thought how cool that would be to have such graphics as backgrounds, something like CANDI... Is it possible?

On further testing, I increased the MAXMEM tooltype to 10000000 and this made some images to load just fine. But there seems to be the following problems as well:
1. When run ADPro, the system freezes for a few seconds, the AmigaAmp stops streaming and the amidock stops working. Also, no menu appears to work on workbench. Then the ADPro window appears, and it is usable, but none of the above returns to work as they should. 2. ADPro seems to have issues with long filenames, something like more than 32 letters.
Anyone using it under OS4?

Hello everyone. Does anyone use Art Department Pro under AmigaOS 4.1 FE? I installed it just fine but when I try to load a JPEG file it complains about the available memory. It is version 2.5.1 and it has the following tooltypes
(BEHIND)
(PUBSCREEN=<public screen name>)
(MINIMIZED)
(LISTINTERFACE)
(NOFLUSHMEM)
MAXMEM=10000
FASTMEMONLY
APPSCRIPT=Applications:Graphics/ADPro/AppScripts/DisplayImage.adproapp
ENHANCED
(SETTINGS=<settings filename>)
(NOLOADSETTINGS)
(NOSAVESETTINGS)
(STARTUP=<ARexx script name>)
REXXDIR=ADPROSCRIPTS:
CX_POPKEY=alt shift a
Any idea with that?

@nbache This issue is on the forum module and not in Xoops. Nevertheless, with the latest updates we did, it is possible to update to a newer and better forum module, that I hope resolves these issues. It is on my todo list. I need first though to be sure that everything will be imported just fine, without losing topics and replies.
two more weeks :D

@kas1e I enabled some caching on news, but this seems to give the above errors. This is disabled now and the issue you mentioned must be gone.
Thanks for your comment.
