The only way to use the PicassoIV is if the mediator has a video expansion slot same as the bigbox Amigas.

Yes, AmiUpdate does exist, and has been in development for the past two years and and off. Currently, it is targetted at the OS4 beta test team, as the OS updates were easier to handle updates of. Recently, there has been a push towards releasing it to a wider audience, and there are now quite a few 3rd party modules included in the update database. You can see what is included by checking http://www.amiupdate.net/dbcontents.htmlI'm currently trying to put togther a web site (html really isn't my thing) and once that is ready, the AmiUpdate situation will be reviewed. I'd also like to get more applications on board working with AmiUpdate, but more information about that will be on the website. If you have an application that can use the automatic updating capability, you can always mail me for more details. Simon

@nubechecorre
If it uses AmigaInput, it was missing from OS4 Final. Copy the AmigaInput files from update 4 and it may work.

How comes the only monitoring stations are in Ghana? I doubt that the weather over there is going to be of much interest to us UK users :)

Most of the StormC package is unstable on OS4. You can use Prefs/Screen to set up a screen that the specified program should open on...

@sicky
While I agree with your sentiments, the fact that 4.0 is final is because it is seen to be "enough" for a release, and as it is the last release (apart from actually getting a CD) of 4.0, it is considered final. Of course, no software is ever finished, but a release comes about when it reaches a standard that is considered "fit for the use of". That, is I think, where 4.0 is now.
Of course there will be updates, things may get fixed, or improved, and those updates will form part of the 4.1 release.

@Antique
It sounds like your CD might be corrupted. Have you burned it to a CDRW? Some people have reported problems when doing that, and they "fixed" it by putting it on a CDR instead.
As far as your IB problems go, that is more than likely down to the fact you updated an upd4 installation and have some old versions of files lying about. Some libraries have now moved from LIBS: to kickstart and the tools directory has gone completely, with the various programs that were in it now being moved to other locations.
The warnings about doing a fresh install were not guidelines, they were a MUST, and for good reason.
Try burning the image again onto CDR and see what happens then

@Paul
Yes, you are right in your assumption. It is the final update, meaning there will be no more updates to OS 4.0. What you have in that ISO will form the CD that ships with new hardware (when it arrives). There may be a few last minutes changes, but what you have is the last in the OS4.0 line, any further releases will be version bumped to OS4.1 etc

Sounds like you need to create a data CD, then use the MP3s as files to be put on it. In normal mode, most CD burner packages will try to convert the MP3 to track data and burn it as an audio CD.

It has been mentioned elsewhere that copying over an interface description file from a previous installation doesn't work.
Anyone else having trouble getting connected, delete the interface file and create a new one, all should work as expected then.

Quote: Swoop wrote: I have OS4Final installed on a new partition, but I have also got my upd4 installation on another partiton, both are bootable, and I can swap by changing the boot priority and rebooting.
This doesn't sound like the greatest of ideas to me. When you say you boot each installation by changing priorities, does this mean that the relevant kickstart for each installation is also loaded? If your loading kickstart from the drive with upd4 on, then booting the workbench installation from OS4Final, this is going to lead to problems, and certainly a new kickstart with upd4 will also give some faults. I know it's nice to have two bootable partitions, but in this case (because of the timeframe between) just make sure that you are loading the correct kickstart too. Simon

Quote: PEB wrote:
How does this AmiUpdate support work?
A mechanism is being prepared that will allow all applications that support it to work with AmiUpdate, that way, when AmiUpdate is run it will list any updates it finds. Needless to say, AmiUpdate is not released to the public yet (there really isn't enough that supports it yet) but has been used by the OS4 beta testers and devs for the last 2 years. A lot of development has gone into this tool, so it's really just a case of getting enough in the application database. More news will follow... Simon

@ SpotUP Quote: Not a bug, but the file requesters in ibrowse have black background, can that be changed? it looks so 1986 dos when they are black.
I think you'll find that they are SAVE requesters, and the black background is an ASL feature to distinguish the difference between load and save. Simon
