Yep, that it. Sad to hear, as it mean we need to make a choice: or site for BillE will not works, but we will have your one works. Or for BillE it will works, odyssey will have last openssl, but your one didn't works :)

I am pleased to report that the Avios site still works perfectly with fix_v5.

Samo, BillE, check plz that one on your problematic sites.

The Avios problem was fixed in the previous release and still works fine.

The other problem I have with logging into a realm with PlusNet is still not working. Maybe it is not an SSL issue ?

@MickJT @kas1e

I downloaded today's version and can now report that the Avios site now works again with Odyssey.

No need to boot into Linux (which involves swapping graphics cards so is a pain) to use the site anymore

Or it would be OK if I could remember my frigging password - but that is not an Odyssey problem.

The browser now seems much more responsive too. It still seems to get stuck in loops for a while but the 100% CPU hog seems to have gone

I still have a problem with PlusNet's web statistics page though.
https://mywebstats.plus.net/plusnet/www.digitaluniverse.org.uk

This used to work in the past but for a good while fails to enter the realm with my UID and password. I get the message

"Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required."

It works with FF on Linux, and did with Exploder at work so the UID and password are right. Any idea why the "your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required." happens in Odyssey? Other sites using realms work fine.

It is still one better than Chrome on Windoze at work, as that did not even open a requester to enter the user details !!

Yay. I know the one from yesterday didn't. It looks as if there is a newer version for me to try

Hi,

I am trying to login to my account at:
http://www.avios.com/gb/en_gb/

I get the following error:
"Unable to open 'https://www.avios.com/my-account/login-process'. Error
35: SSL connect error."

Note you do not need an account to check this as the Forgot Username and forgotten password links give the same type of output.

I do have Ignore SSL errors enabled !

For some reason I cannot boot my update 6 partition anymore so cannot check what Timberwolf does.

I tried IBrowse which though lacking CSS did give some more useful error information.

"Detailed error description:"
"error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol"

Any suggestions or are they using a new version of SSL that has broken all Amiga browsers

@Severin

Thanks for the tip.

I deleted all the TSB cookies except for my UID.

I was then able to login as normal

@yescop

It is after you enter details and try to load the following page(s) that the error occurs. The URL just redirects back to the first page if you have not started the login process. It is the intermediate stages that have the problem - if anyone else uses TSB online banking they could check it out and see if they get through.

Hi,

I have recently been getting the following message on Odyssey when trying to login to my TSB online banking. No doubt due to an "improvement" in the bank's web pages.

A problem occurred while loading https://secure.tsb.co.uk/personal/login?mobile=false.
Error 56: Failure when receiving data from the peer.

IBrowse manages to get onto the site but the lack of CSS makes it pretty unreadable. Any idea what might be causing this error in Odyssey?

Spoofing as different browsers makes no difference.

I would try Timberwolf but that just seems to crash these days

while on the subject...is there something new coming from DU? 1.8 maybe?

I am thinking of starting work on DU again, been a bit busy with real life for a while

There will be a 1.8, so any requests for features are welcome.

Before that I will release an update to v1.7 that fixes a couple of bugs. Some may have noticed that with OS4.1FE some of the text in DU is lost due to changes in the graphics library. Its already been fixed but not released yet. I must get around to it soon.

Pretty close but not quite, in fact rather similar to this one.

Not true, it was visible from Northants too (at least I'm pretty sure it was - I actually managed to miss totality

As I thought, only parts of Cornwall and Devon were within the totality path - see the map linked below for details.

Torquay would have been the farthest east in the UK that totality would just be seen.

Nice to see some shots of DU in action in your picture set

I too had DU running in Realtime Update mode during the eclipse.

Cloudy here on and off.

The beginning was clearish, then it totally clouded over and near the maximum coverage it cleared but then became cloudy again.

Oddly, one of the best pics was without the filter but taken through the clouds.

Also, one near the beginning of the eclipse.

2003 ? Are you sure it was not in August 1999 ?

A different eclipse. The 1999 one was only total from the very southwest tip of England, we went to Turkey for that one and got a much better view

The 2003 was partial for much of the UK and France but it was annular for the northern parts of Scotland. Or so I am told, the fog that morning was so thick you could not tell where the sun was even meant to be - a glorious day later as luck would have it !

The weather is not looking too good for tomorrow up here, it is cloudy but fingers crossed it may clear before the eclipse.

It is going to be even better from the far north of Scotland where I live

A pity it is not quite total, just that thin slither is more than enough to prevent the corona being seen.

It is still the best eclipse I can see without having to travel.

I just hope the weather is going to be better than it was for the 2003 annular eclipse [supposedly] visible from here. All we saw was extremely thick fog

BTW. One I took from Zambia in 2001

VAT needs to be calculated at end depending on where the user lives. Users outside EU do not pay the VAT.

In which case list either all prices for each country or a worst case scenario.

The user is NOT interested in ex VAT prices but the total they are going to pay. All pricing should be VAT inclusive and not leave nasty surprises for after you have ordered.

AFAIR Fab said somewhere that Oddysey has no on-disk cache.

Why is this ?
A local cache is one of the most useful features of a browser.

I find that Odyssey does not work well with sites that have heavy use of javascript, like ebay and homebase.co.uk. Often the only way to continue is kill the dead connections and do a refresh and it is extremely inefficient to have to reload all the files that should be in a locally accessible cache. Especially when stuck with 512kbps broadband !

Does anyone have the slightest idea as to what the Cache Model setting does in Prefs ? It has settings of Document Viewer, Document Browser and Primary Web Brower. None of which seem to do anything or improve performance.

On a related note, when dead connections have been aborted, browsing can continue but the LED indicators are not freed up. Once these have all been used odyssey grinds to a halt and has to be closed down and restarted.

@rebraist

Wordworth 7, Digita Money Matters, Digita organiser, Image FX, Golded/Cubic, Turbocalc, Mahjongg Tiles.

These are ones I use more or less daily. There are others too, some a bit flakey but just useable such as Draw Studio.
