Re: Timberwolf beta 4 available

Bookmarks & History.

When quitting TW I get a GR if History is active or I set a Bookmark.
____________________________________________________________________
Parent Process has quit before all children have.

Process: Background CLI

Function: Wait_until_Child_Ends (Shell)

Error Process: NSPR thread 4 pid=xxx

If History and Bookmarks are not used TW quits clean.

Just a note.

Running.
Nice.

For the next bug I choose the one that will make all people in videos and pictures on the web look like the Simpsons.

Love the Clipboard thingy.

Go to Trevors blog first.

We have all had 'those' Mondays. YUK!

Going on to part 2, a ray of sunshine. If you haven't listened to Aeon Starlight by Rayne then perhaps now is a good time to do so. It's in the System > Media drawer.

Part 3 is just way cool. Gotta get me............another card ASAP.

I haven't had X1000 very long, but since getting it there has been what seems like a growing river of new. The only frustration has been finding the time to play with and investigate each piece in detail, meanwhile realizing there is more to come.

I am oh so glad I invested........my wife ??????? maybe not so much. Oh well, she must get her share of those Mondays too.

If not viewed already, Epsilon over on AWnet has a super nice blog about installing Amicygnix on X1000.

The Amiga may end-up being one of the few "true" desktops systems left. Windows 8 is doing as much as possible to kill the traditional desktop, while Apple seems to want to turn Mac OS X into iOS .............- just look at what Ubuntu are doing.

All true.

Amiga is not just a desktop, it is probably the only platform produced today. Windows is not a platform, Apple has given up being a platform in favor of the ever new, more unit sales path. AROS, MorphOS, Linux, and so many more are simply not platforms.

I have been trying to find the time to post some info on how glad I am to have purchased X1000, but seem to be constantly moving that back due to not being able to leave the migy alone long enough to even gather my thoughts enough to do that.

It is everything I thought it would be, and it's getting better all the time.

Gotta go play

It's what we did in the french AmigaOS 4 portal. Each platform has its forum.

Do you think it is a better setup for the users?

Would you recommend it for this site?

Forum subdivisions

Just popping in

Since Amigans site is Amiga only I would like to see the forums more divided into specific categories.

Oft times a subject may be slow moving and drop from the front page rather quickly.
Trying to find the thread when it is in the jumble of all other threads in a 'general' forum can be difficult.

For example a thread on A1XE gets lost to the people that still have one because there a many more
threads about Sam440 boards. If the A1XE had its own hardware/software subsection(s) it could be
much easier to find.

Perhaps a poll is in order?

Your views, please.

The reason I asked is that I installed a SBLive the day before the update and just noticed that the popping was gone. SBLive? Update?

No big deal, just wondering, and too lazy to put the original card back in.

The SBLive is working like a champ.

A question for First Contact X1000 users with the supplied sound card.

Does your sound system still make a popping sound when starting a CD or
other things after the recent update?

How do I organise my saved bookmarks, I have lots of bookmarks and have created folders but how do I move the saved bookmarks to the folders?

Looks like TW keeps its bookmarks in a file,
Timberwolf/CurrentUserProfile/.mozilla/firefox/Profiles/(numbers).default/places.sqlite
Which is 1081344B in size.

Saving that file someplace and copying it to a new installation is how I backup my bookmarks. at least for now.

Ok.

The TBImages problem is gone.

Leaving for holiday in a bit so I'll get back to this when I return.
Thanks guys, I'll bump this when I get back to my Amiga.

First... have you installed the latest 0.10 version. Do you run the right version of hd-rec icon. There's for different OS like os4, 68k etc.

Yes and yes.

The 68k version GRs for MIDI, I think, but eventually starts up.

For OS4
Right now HD-Rec reports;

'Plugin Error: Did not find any ID or executable of Beeper'

And

'file_open: Unable to read "TBImages:list_zoom_100":object not found

+ many more TBImages not found.

It does have a Beeper drawer with files in it. TBImages.....?

Thanks. That worked.

However now it's looking for other things.
I,ve been messing with this for 2 days now.
I think I'll wait until it is ready for prime
time.

Thanks again.

Which zlib does HD-rec require?

(I've tried 3 so far with no luck getting HD-rec to start-up.)

It seems, according to the email you sent me, that the main problem is the space in the filename.

Not a problem here,at least for opening local files.

file:///RAM Disk:usb copy.log (in location)
Shows in Tab as file:///RAM...%20copy.log (truncated and 20hex=32=ASCII space)

file:///Docs:usb cy.log (in location)
Shows in Tab as file:///Docs:usb%20cy.log

While PPC Macs are nice, if OS4 is ever to go that way,it would be nice to see OS 4.2 or further for Playstation 3 - quite more powerful then most of Macs.

And I say desktop G4, someone else G5, someone else mini.
So a port to one only would bring naught but complaints from people with something else and only perhaps a few customers to Hyperion.

Now if someone wants to pay to have AmigaOS on each PPC Mac, then that may be a different story.

Who has the bucks?

Anyone?
