Which name to choose will come from how the jingle sounds; how easy it is to say in a phrase.

No, I won't be helping out, but I thought you could do with a bit of input.

There have been a lot of problems on the internet in the last 48 hours, DNS lookups failing all over. For amigans.net I use an entry in my Hosts file.

On shows with live call in bits show producers are more on hand to filter out nutballs and to move the show on if the presenter is getting bogged down.

Sometimes it is good to let the nutballs go on a bit before cutting them off.

A final thought, always record the content a week in advance ( apart from topical items ) to give you a chance to do a run through with the interviewee, recut it, and do a dummy run of the show. So do interviews on the weekend, Monday or Tuesday at latest, aim to get a version out for the Weds/Thurs ready for play on the Friday.

How much planning is needed?

52 shows a year, lasting an hour.

The show goes out at 8pm, GMT every Friday and is repeated at 4am GMT every Saturday for the Aussies and Zealers.

The show format:

1. Recorded: Recap, news items of the week - record and tack onto the front at 5pm GMT every Friday. Announce at the start that users can call in while the news items are on and they will be in the next part of the show ( live ). Lasting 5 minutes in total, maybe two people discussing the news ( Outcast? Mikey_C? ) and inviting opinions on a specific item.

2. If callers have called in by 8.05pm then (a) cue live section of discussion and debate with the caller(s). If not, cue prerecorded alternative (b)

(a) Live: Divide up time equally, maybe allow them to conference call.

(b) Recorded: Precorded item, maybe reviews, maybe music. This bit is disposable.

3. Recorded: 8.15-8.25 - Interview recorded earlier in the week with a developer, figure, personality. Or if no interview a workshop talking about something ( Mac on Amiga? Samba? ).

4. Recorded: 8.25-8.30 Repeat of the news recap, announce at the start that while the news items are on callers can call in on a topic for the second live segment of the show. Maybe the second part is a workshop, or inviting comments in the interview.

5. 8.30-8.45 If callers have called in by 8.30pm then (a) live section if not (b) prerecorded alternative.

(a) Live: Divide up time equally

(b) Recorded: Some prerecorded item, disposable if you get live chat.

6. 8.45-9.00 Recorded: More prerecorded content, maybe some music, regular spot ( os4depot game reviews? items from the internet? Look at other platforms, the industry, general items ).

The repeat would just be a record of the live show.

...this way the show doesn't have to be live, or at least not all of it.

Are you going to make it different and have talk spots? Maybe allow site members to interact with the DJs not via IRC but the site or to skype you online. Or is it just music?

It would be interesting to tune into something that was actually going to talk about the products, have the developers being interviewed and maybe users reviewing games. Even one show a week would be worth listening to if it contained that.

Something relevant, something like LBC or Radio 5 in England.

By having wholly original content you wouldn't have copyright problems.

It just needs to be a "workstation" style computer motherboard, named by Eyetech as AmigaONE and released as such.

So, in theory, any of these boards could be released with a nominal "tax" by Eyetech under their name of $1 a board.

Don't ask me how I know but I do ( unless I have been lied to ).

No problem. The Zico stuff has been used as a stick to beat Amiga OS users with for ages so I guess it is still a sore spot.

At that point it might have been true, but I've long since stopped even thinking that any major interview with those guys should be used as a credible factual source.

I'm sorry if that winds some people up a little, but the Troika kit looks the most interesting.

@RomanceClip

As said the Zico spec now applies to nothing, back in the old days I think it was to get people buying machines that were capable of running AmigaDE ( Intent ). It has no more bearing on the Amiga scene and it is probably best to forget it ( apart from remembering what Amino were like... ).

Hyperion were working with some people providing something called SNAP ( ? ) which is supposed to provide basic support for most graphics cards out there.

The Radeon series are the best supported, followed by the old Voodoo.

I don't know about the old Matrox cards, maybe one of the beta testers can comment?

Every time I edit it in golded and save it the error Not enough data returns.

So I think I'll try out one of these other editors.

Thanks for your help, now I think I'll continue using heddley although it makes me think of the Mel Brookes movie Blazing Saddles for some reason.

I think you are right, the file is broken somehow, other guides work! Please note that as the contributers have not agreed to the copyright clause that putting this up here is a risk and I apologise to them in advance, my original plan was to send it round to each contributer first to get edit suggestions and approval. I'll remove this as soon as I get feedback on what the bug is - I wouldn't do this if I wasn't desperate!

Anyone know what causes this when trying to load a guide? I've converted the security FAQ to an AmigaGuide document and every time I try to launch it I get this error.

Just a thought on this, maybe it should be in AmigaGuide and published in different parts for different revisions of the OS.

Does anyone know if there is a tool for generating AmigaGuides to another format ( like a Wiki )?
