Yes, difference in USE about 2-3 FPS between the same modes for sam800 / peg2.. Of course 200mhz of difference giving only 3 FPS speedup maximum are not so CPU related..

Dunno about bandwidth bottleneck .. If i remember right, Pegasos2 have better/faster HW in compare with Sam ? If it's indeed really better, then it's opengl problem. If Sam in terms of HW almost the same as Peg2 (all that cashes, speed of PCI and alt) then maybe HW related :)

But it's interesting about almost the same "use" results. Interesting and opengl-on-aos4-suck-in-mind coming :) Maybe someone more skilled in that terms have any ideas about ..

So, for the same OpenGL implementation we have different results beetwen Sam800 and peg2/1000mhz. That is good, because now we can say that new HW will speedup it even with current OpenGL implementation.

Still, wIth having in mind, that AOS4 opengl can be faster on peg2 in compare with morphos one, in 2 times, then, even on 800/1ghz hardware it can works at normal speed if Hyperion will make almost the same opengl by speed as morphos one.

Interesting to see speed tests from A1 owners :)

Lets test LodePaint on different machines, to see which differences have place. For testing lets use 16 bit wb and 32 bit wb, for 3 resolutions. Resolutions are changes in file "settings.txt" (in root of latest LodePaint directory). Line 21 and 22 mean X/Y:

FPS counter are at bottom/right area of LodePaint.

So, for my peg2 / 1ghz / radeon 9250 / aos4.1 update 2 :

For example on my pegasos2 with 1ghz , when i works with lodepaint i have maximum cpu loading at 85%. On sam800 someone say that is 96%. So we can expect from 1800mhz 50-60% of cpu loading. Cant say exactly will it any speed up LodePaint or not (because it even for me 80%, so, CPU not fully loaded).

I more think that problem exactly in our slow realisation of OpenGL. It can, and should works faster in 2 times. Maybe P96 somehow slow-down it too. Dunno.

For now i think that CPU will be not so important problem (just because my 80% only). Imho faster bandwich will help more, and of course, opengl speeduped in twice (but something make me think, that x1000 will not have any new opengl for begining). It will be cool, if it will just have warp3d drivers for new gfx card (because very possible that not, and only 2d for begining).

In other words - cant say how x1000 will be done, need to test :) But on winxp on celeron 1.1ghz and radeon7000, it works absolutly fast, smooth, and FPS all the time are in 2 - 2.5 more than for me on peg2 (and it faster because of everything - faster hardware itself (not cpu itself) , better opengl implementation, etc)

In general i hope of course, than on x1000 it will just fly, with low cpu-loading and so on. IT also interesting to test lodepaint on new upcoming sam (where as i can see will be fast hardware itself). Never check hardware details of it deeply, but hope it will be faster than peg2 by HW.

ps. I write to author about non working magic wind already.

ps2. Btw, you can check speed by FPS counnter too (number in the bottom-right area of lodepaint), to see make CPU differences or not.

Not sure that i right understand what you mean about "clear screen", but for that you can do:

1. close working area/create new one
2. mark all the area by rectanlge tool, and press "del".
3. menu: image/clear
4. press "ctrl+z" many times :)

I use for LodePaint such strings, which allow me to use plugins with:

- for main program:

Only in that way plugins works for me. In others - it crashes on dlopen as well as for you.

New version on os4depot. Changes since last one:

- Added FPS counter
- Did a few cleanups and optimizations (should be a bit faster on AOS4 for now).
- Gave the jpeg plugin the ability to save jpegs. Quality currently defaults to 80. Plugin load for now by default, so you need nothing to do.
- Added "Normalized Iteration" option to julia and mandelbrot filters (smoother color transitions)
- Increased the tooltip font size.
- Fixed an annoying bug that sometimes made it hard to type values in filter/tool parameters.
- Fixed the appearance of numbers with many decimals after the point when using some sliders in filter/tool parameters.
- Made some filter/tool parameters use percentage (0-100) rather than the range 0.0-1.0.
- Updated GUI style: brighter toolbar, white rectangle behind number inputs, new slider style, and brushier brush icon.
- Fixed the accidently broken "keep only alpha" filter
- Tab now works to jump to next control on all text fields and sliders in filter/tool parameters
- Added "Copy Alpha" option to the "Blend Selection" filter
- Auto-save of programm settings (i.e. you can choice any background colors, size of working area, etc, then exit, and for next run , everything will be re-loaded as it was on exit).

That is type of crash: DSI (Data Storage Interrupt) exception. Can be ignored and program 50/50 will works fine nextly. Other 50/50 that it can cause new heavy error, which after ignore will freeze the whole os, and only reboot can help.

For example easy errors and mistake (which will shows as DSI errors), can be ignored fine (like DSI on exit, when coder forget to close/free something). And you still can use OS with no problems.

But for example heavy errors like reffering to some library function, which do something wrong from/to memory which not present, or present but can't be written cause a lockup.

It's for now one of the problematic part of AOS4: any app can freeze the whole os. Good for us, that for now, some of every-day for usage programs are very stable (like OWB, Dopus4, Filer and alt), and visually it can make feel, that OS are stable. But you just need run any bad program, and freeze/lockup/reboot.

I hope soon to fix all of this, and release it. For now check that screenshot.

A bit offtopic already, but, MSPAint its minimalictic, simple and very light version of graphics editor, which allow you to do many important functions like: cropping, resizing, cut+pasting, text typing and all. That is more than enough for everyone who just want to do some basic stuff with images/pictures/texutres/etc. Of course when need to do something more or less "heavy" i use Photoshop :) I hope personally, that LodePaint someday will be almost Photoshop. But .. It will be never native, and all that boring problems with our slow opengl relisation, cant give users to use it in full and normally.

Btw, On Morphos some kind of simply gfx-editor tool are present, and called "Scetch". The same basic, simply and good. And even maybe better than MSPaint.

AOS4 should have in end something like that (and its not because win32 have it, its just good to have by default in OS something usable, without bugs, without deep understanting of tons of options and alt).

Sometime no DSI at all, sometime they are coming, and after one ingore, give you second one, which cause a freeze (for example, when you change screenmode preferences from new-screen on placed-on-wb-screen, then heavy DSI is coming). But it works anyway, and can be used (still, for me, even primitive MSPAINT from win32 are better, sadly to say).

1). From time to time i use PPaint and Photogenics (from time to time mean 2-3 times in last year:) ).

2). About 10 years ago i use "Scala" a bit for animation, and graphics editor called "Brilliance" have also ability to create simply animation. Both 68k of course, and imho will not works on os4.

3). Hollywood for now imho only.

4). Golded in the past. For now called CubicIDE and notepad.

5). dunno

6). dunno

7). HD-Rec.

8). ---

9). Tunenet

10). OWB, Wokiechat, PFTP and amiFTP.

11). Notepad , shell and GCC stuff

12). Dunno, but imho only Blender today.

13). Games are very many, and it unpossible to choice only 3. 30 from os4, and 30 from classic - then it possible.

14). tcpdump, ping, telnet (all unix kind-ports).

15). dunno, but imho that one which do AfxGroup for working with SQL bases and alt.

16). Can't choice only one, but can choice that:

a) Making software, coding or porting
c) Browsing the internet and/or downloading software

That is in reality for what i use aos4 mostly for now.

MorphOS version of OWB, for now, are MUCH_MUCH better than aos4 one (i can say that, because i have on my peg2 mos2.5 and os4.1).

Why just not help aos4 users a bit, and made at last download manager ? You already see, that almost all users all the time ask you about download manager. Maybe you think it's not important, but all users say that is very important.

Personally i from time to time have in mind trying to port MorphOS version of OWB to AOS4, but that MUI3-MUI4 conversion crap are not my cap of tee.. Or what even worse convert MUI4 stuff to reaction, which (reaction) for sure not have something which MUI4 have :)
