@Joeled Quote: I sent a pm to you abt another game. Did you see it?
Nope, but better to post it here anyway, maybe AfxGroup or MickJT will try it as well. @samo79 Sauerbraten its cube2 , compiles fine , show me menu, all works fine, but crashes heavy on the game code (Dunno why for now, so i leave it for the better time, after new update with new w3d drivers will released).

@Joeled UltraStar Deluxe - pascal Slam soccer 2006 - java Commander Stalin - imho possible (because based on Bos Wars, which already ported by AfxGroup), downloading for now (260 mb). Rigs of Rods - looks nice too, downloading for now as well. @328gts Quote: I really enjoyed GrnadPrix by Micropose on the Amiga and was wondering it it would be possible to port the later PC versions to OS4.1 (Grand Prix 2, 3, & 4) ???
GrandPrix2 are already ported to Morphos, so, it will works for aos4 for sure. If some of you can found an email of author (working one), and ask him for sources for aos4 port - i can do that.

@phantom Quote: Switching to full screenmode, I got several graphics pop-ups, which unfortunately comes to an unplayable experience. When something moves everything is flickering and so on.
Imho the same "barier of memory" problem. As i know, beta version of warp3d drivers already fixed in that terms. And you will not have any glitches anymore, and almost will not have slowdowns when "barrier" will happens (why almost - because still there need to reupload textures at the begining of video memory, reorganaze it, etc). Also loading of textures with new w3d fix will be faster than before => all 3d games will works a bit faster. Need to wait for the next update. I hope (can be wrong of course, just speculating), that it will be released with the classic version of aos4.1. Maybe in the next mounth or so (i hope). ps. As usual for me on peg2/1ghz with radeon9250 (256mb) everything works fast and without glitches in that game :)

@TorbenLarsen
My comment is it : Please, no need any info about smartfones, iphones, ipads, machintoshes, and other stuff here. Just post such info on amigaworld.net and on amiga.org
There is ppls mostly like stuff related to amigaos exactly, and mostly for amigaos4.
If you will start someday porting from smartphones to amigaos4 , then you will be very wellcome.

@ssolie
Is there any reasson why just not set 1mb of stack for every programm by default (in aos4 kernel code) ? Then everyone will forget about it at all.

@samo79
Even with new 3d drivers old sam will not enough. You will see it yourself later :) As i say there is no miracles possible in that terms. For example its strange to be in hope, that something like Ghotic3, will playable on SAM600mhz, even with uber-ultra fast drivers.

@Phantom Do you still use real CD-DRIVE ? Anyway, very possible that you have disabled DMA or kind for cd-drive , and because of this everything are slow like hell (copy from i mean). I have the same problems back in times when i try to install first time aos4.1 on my peg2. That was slow like hell, because of wrong connecting or kind (the old story as on classic amigas :) ).
Maybe its not your problem, but anyway, use the ISO files + diskimage for mount them easy.

@Phantom Quote: Unfortunately SAM boards seem to not be 100% ready, and almost "heavy" and nice games are unplayable, if you compare that the same game under an AmigaOne or Pegasos2 G4 system just plays normally.
That is normal. You cant expect to be playable all the modern games on zx-spectrum , or on sam with 500-600mhz. There cant be any miracles, and for normal stuff , need normal computer. We even can be happy, that with our bad 3d realisation, even on 1ghz all the stuff plays normally. Say that to win32/linux users, that we play in all your stuff on 1ghz, and they already will be surprised in most cases. But be in hope that all will be fine on 500-600-700 mhz .. There is only new Sam460 or x1000 are hope. But from my point of view, sam460 will be "more or less normal for the minimum" , and x1000 will be "what is should be", for all the latest games, which will be released when shaders (with gallium) will come. Reality and so on :) You cant expect that authors of "heavy" games (or porters), will rewrite the whole game, just because of 500mhz computers. That is very time consuming, and make no sense when we already have fast enough amigaone1, peg2 and soon sam460/x1000 (and with new drivers, new gfx cards, new 3d subsystem, they all should be enough even for all the current-modern PC games of 2010 year). Sometime you can be lucky that game will works fast for you on 500mhz, sometime not. That all not depens from porters, its just depens of how authors write the games. If it slow - you only can blame authors and our 3d realisation. If it fast - just luck :) Of course porters can loose more time , and rewrite tons of code , add assembler , and so on - and make it works more or less fine on 500mhz cpu, but then, result will be 1 game in 1 year. @afxgroup Of course, but we all know where you and i will get that games :)) (buy of course:) )

@afxgroup Yeah ! AOS4 start to have games at last ! :) Good that many good games/apps are cross-platform and open-source. Someone can worring about "not native games", but today all the games are not native , and use all those opengl/sdl apis.

@afxgroup Looks very nice. Not ultra-fast (in menu), but if you have a1 with 800mhz, i think for my peg2 will be as it should be :) How hard these small problems which you need to fix ? Or maybe they already fixed ?:) Full-screen are possible as well ? Resolutions can be changed ?

@Phantom
Game should imho use by default these ones which are inside of the game directory, and if there is nothing, then use ones into SOBJ: on system partition. So, you can for example just move all the sobj from game directory, to SOBJ: directory. Also if it have that directory, then SOBJes are used for sure => update SDL by new one for first (and if that will not helps, then other sobjes).

@Phantom So need to check by readelf, use it sobjes or not, and if yes, then update them all. Latest SDL are here. But if game compiled statically (readelf will say for you something like "this binary to have any dinamic sections), without using of sobj, then problems will be not that easy imho.

@Phantom
Maybe try it from different locations (ram / sfs / jfs). Also try to do in the shell: readelf -d freespace2
It will say you use it any sobjes or not . If it use some sobjest (at top of information from "readelf"), then try to replace it on new ones. Just for interest, you can post there only stack trace ? (i.e. when crash happens, press "generate stack trace" button, save it to file, and post here _ONLY_ that stack trace (wihotu any other , mostly unimportant info). That can say us where it crashes.
Btw, latest sdl from google.code/os4sdl page , or from os4depot ? Anyway, need to check by readelf use it sobjes or not for first.

@Phantom
Yep. Some one (you for example ?:) ) can try to contact with author to ask sources for aos4 port. Or maybe ask him will he in interest to port it to aos4 if we will buy sam-machines for him (as usuall can collect money, send him machine, and he will make a release for). Or maybe if he will in interest, i can port it myself if he will give a sources..
Did you have his mail ? Or did you know who make morphos port of it ? Author itself, or some morphos-devels ? Because if its done by mos devels, then we can grab the sources. Or even buy them (if they will cost no so much).

@Crisot
Imho 5-7fps + only or maybe the same or i will not very surprised if even a bit slower :)) Because of 1.2ghz of cpu, which are have lower L2 cash in compare with peg2, but a bit faster in raw power.
Anyway, by your test tool, it says that max mips on peg2 are about 3000, while on sam460 - about 2400 if i remember right. Dunno if it will also make sense for end usage or not..

@fingus Imho a bit (5-7 fps) faster in compare with peg2. Because new sam have faster speed with video bus, and with memory , but l2 a bit loose in compare with peg2.
@m3x Can you maybe plug-in radeon9250 to sam460, and try quake3 , just to see FPS difference on the same warp3d drivers, just on new sam ?
Btw, a bit out of topic, but maybe you can also do little test of LodePaint (opengl based painter), which show FPS ? If yes, i can write more details about how to test it. So we can compare peg2 and sam460 in real live, with current status.

@djrikki By url which afxgroup post you can found which games it handle, but to avoid all the problems, there is: -- Baldur's Gate series -- Icewind Dale series -- Planescape: Torment) But they all pretty nice. Like RobinHood imho (video from morphos version of robin hood here ). Btw maybe we should try to contact with author of RobinHood, to make port happens for aos4. Back in times i play in it on morphos, its pretty interesting and nice game.
