After a little reading I managed to work out the suitable settings.

VSYNCMIN=56
VSYNCMAX=75
HSYNCMIN=30000
HSYNCMAX=83000

Been playing with the lower modes @ 1440x900 at the moment at this stage not sure what is the min, shouldn't matter though in one respect, wouldn't a window of the relevant size open on the workbench anyway.

Perfect display! I'm very happy with the Monitor

Can I ask if you are using 5.x and whether it is actually faster than 4.x for example or earlier non PPC enhanced versions.

Perhaps texture rendering is quicker but not the main rendering engine as a whole; I have no idea, perhaps you do?

I assume the PPC components in Imagine 5.x must work with the PPC of the A1 otherwise the program wouldn't work at all-even if this means the WarpOS wrapper?

Perhaps you don't use the PPC version at all.

Just curious, no harm done, looking forward to picking up my own copy sooner rather than later and help Martins cause out.

btw, lets not fight amongst ourselves, I too remember what it was like always fighting for an 060 version, hell, I still own 6 different types of 060 boards LOL

but the main thing is to get it going, an earlier version is probably going to be slightly easier to do anyway? If anyone is prepared to take on the project let them decide where they want to start

whee!

maybe I should look at getting that 800mhz machine of ours fixed Jahc? then I can enjoy both worlds?

Joystick Options 4 SAM

Need your expertise ladies & gentlemen;

I plan to dabble in a little bit of MAME game playing at some stage. Just sorting the roms recently. And it dawned on me the SAM doesn't have a joystick or similair.

So

Are there supported joysticks/joypads for MAME in mind, is it hit or miss or have you got personal information that can help me?

is USB the only solution? not that there is anything wrong with that.

thanks team, any insight is most welcome and appreciated!

I know I should be in the office but I wondered off down to the tech store down the road and picked myself up one of these.

I do hope it works fine with the SAM.

Anyone had any experience with this brand?

btw, at 1680x1050 I certainly hope the SAM can run at that resolution without slowing down?

thanks for any input

p.s. hate to say this but this is the first modern monitor I have ever brought.... well, I do have a 50" plasma but I won't run the SAM through that

@all

right you lot *grin* I know I've only been busy posting for the last week or so but I guess I'm here to stay... Just have a small suggestion here; by my way of thinking it takes one person to report something and one other to simply confirm it. Now there isn't any problem with everyone joining in as such I'm just concerned with the affect at times it can have on people who are responsible for updating/changing/implementing etc from the feedback we give them.

and issue is probably too strong a word, try oversight

No one ever means the worst I think but it doesn't hurt to be more forgiving when things are being done for you

I hope I don't appear to be overreacting, I'm just thinking out loud... I have yet to get involved in any AmiUpdate particulars for example but don't want it muzzled (for lack of a better word) before I get a chance to see it with all the bells and whistles

I've always believed in making do and smiling about it, users are part of the same journey software takes

LOL - too deep for Friday morning, perhaps, I had a late night too... damn SAM, too cool to ignore

The matters you're speaking about now are hardware or installation related.

I am not going to ask any obvious questions

I must say though, it's been an interesting trek. I'm looking forward to conversing about common reference points in regards to programming.

I've never been into graphics. I've just dabbled in programming throughout my life. But I've only started some serious projects since about 2003. I have several nice pieces of software now. At the moment I'm working on a 2d platform game engine. It's about 2 weeks old, and I've been putting dribs and drabs of effort into it. It's coming along quite nicely. I ripped off all my graphics, and just googled for sound effects. :)

Strange, I was never into graphics either and still aren't really just find 3D modelling quite a good skill to have, for some reason I think it'll come in handy down the line.

Always been interested in programming just never got around to doing it seriously, got quite good at compiling mud codebases though, so at least I know the fundamentals associated with putting together source code and including headers etc.

You must be at a pretty exciting place at the moment and that's great, I'll be following along experiencing some of that some time in the future, I certainly hope!

I agree, but perhaps I'm a little more optimistic, I don't think a few more years is something we have to worry about, I think the Amiga will hold its ground forever in a day

Imagine development continued on PC after the Amiga scene died off.. I wonder, is the latest Imagine available for Amiga at the moment? Or was that to come later? If the Amiga version is out of date, how out of date is it?

It would be great to see more apps born on Amiga return to Amiga. :)

I'm glad to hear that Imagine works okay on OS4.x. Often with these older apps, they can reaper from bugs that went unnoticed on OS3.x.

Yes, I remained joined to the list even though it seemed more dos related. As you can see by the recent reply Imagine is more than alive for our machines. I'll be happy to pick up a copy within a month and get back into modelling.

How about yourself you ever do any? My modelling was the basis of a graphic business I co-started in 1989. Because of a fallout with the other director very early on we never went anywhere. As the years went by I saw more and more of my ideas surface, but that is a long sad story LOL

@abalaban

Slayer:

My Question is this, if I purchase the $200 (any version to Imagine6) deal, will the 5.x version and finally the 6.0 version work on my 667 SAM running 4.1?

Martin:

It should do; I dont have a SAM myself (I have a uA1), The SAM runs OS4.1 as do the other AmigaOne boards, and Imagine installs and runs OK under OS4.0 & 4.1 so I dont see any reason why it wouldnt work on a SAM.

Slayer:

And will there be full PPC versions or just parts?

Martin:

Certain parts are (WarpUP based) PPC at the moment; more PPC support to come in future update releases.

Roadshow Config For SAM
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Has anyone tweaked there Roadshowcontrol settings to run more efficently/quickly with a high speed ADSL connection.

I know there is information already out there concerning this but I'm just pondering if the SAM ethernet ports are different for example.

Ranger also reports MTU and Hardware is at 1518 I decided to take off 40 from that and set that as my MTU in Roadshow.

I think it would have been nice to have a toggle, either set it to something or 0 to disable and then the hardware figures it out. Once established it also changed relevant buffers and caches.

Before I saw the Ranger information I had it set at 1500 which is the setting at my provider. I didn't take off 40, that's just a new thing and seems to be related to other systems, must be a reason for it though.

Not at home, at work with this horrible IBM LOL so can't provide any cut and paste

Thanks for any information
