How Did This Get Made, but really searching for anything brings up the error. So, you're not experiencing it?

Sorry to go a bit OT, but Mediavault doesn't work for me anymore with podcasts. When I try and search for a podcast, or select my favourite, it gives an error "There was an error with the returned data. Please try again. If the problem remains, please check your network and that your system time is synced".

I last downloaded some podcast on 15th November; I guess something on the server Mediavault pulls from has changed since then.

Yes, I 've looked at those examples alot, very helpful for building a gui. But as for achieving other things, such as executing a dos function and parsing results, I haven't made any progress.

After years of writing nothing but Arexx scripts, I decided I wanted to try some "real" programming this year. I chose Chris' PortablE, swayed by his argument that its better than C. I've been using Lite-XL for arexx, so I feel comfortable using it to write E source code, although the lack of a menu stymies me. I know "real hackers" love their short-cut keys, but my brain doesn't work like that.

Apart from the difficulty of finding time, it's tough to figure how to do things. The beauty of arexx is that, in itself it doesn't do much, it just tells other applications to do something and works with the result. If you can write a dos command, you can write an arexx script to execute it.

I decided to start with turning an arexx script that I wrote that extracts archives in bulk. I was able to create the gui easy enough (except a menu, can't get that to work), but I really struggle with getting it to do anything else. There's just not enough examples. I might have to switch to C, but I might have the same problem.

Yes, I'm currently on the same path as you, possibly a little further along. I heard back from Tony earlier this year.

It's not simply a matter of getting the new version from him. You also need to update uboot to the latest version, which you can get from Steve Solie. This will allow you to boot from the new NGFS.

I now have the latest uBoot (Feb 2024), although I don't know if I can distribute it.

Haven't gotten any further than that, hopefully will get some down time soon to install it.

Great, got the new update to 2.55.

Just a suggestion - after the update, AmiUpdate prompts for a soft reboot. But many of us have RX cards now and can't soft-reboot. I would reommend an option for a full reboot.

I second the recommendation of FFMpegGUI and FFMpeg. I started playing around with both of them around 2012, now I use FFMpeg for my job (unfortunately, not on an Amiga, it would be too slow).

I have played around a little bit with Kevin's VideoClipper, and it seems like a useful package. Sadly, I have never managed to get Blender to run on my X5000.

Also, if they're Mpegs, you can actually stick them together with the AmigaDOS join command, although that's not something I would recommend. :)

I can still remember getting my X5000. Can't believe it was way back in 2017. I bought just the motherboard from Amigakit. Had it delivered to work. Arrived on a Friday, started building it that night when I got home.

Sadly don't get enough time with it these days, but I will get a vicarious thrill watching your videos.

Personally, I would like to see screenshots in their intended size, even its 4K. Back in the 2010s djrikki uploaded screenshots that were scaled "to keep you browser experience sane", which might've been true back then, but now they just look small and lacking detail.

Sadly, Amiga Auckland in New Zealand no longer exists. Noel Fuller passed away a few years ago and we voted to dissolve.

Amistore is telling me I have £3.27 balance, but there doesn't seem to be any way for me to spend this - if I try and make a purchase, I am prompted to add the full price of the item.

I have been stymied by the low-profile bracket on my graphics card!

Anyone know where you can get high-profile brackets from?

Thanks, I am interested in trying Morphos but my priority is getting Linux back which I lost when I upgraded to an RX card.

I am wary about using a 4x to 16x ribbon extender because it would mean, as all my case slots line up with pci/e connectors, it would be jammed up against an unoccupied motherboard pci connecter. Hence my plan to get a simple connector adapter and use that. I can see Skateman seems to not have this problem but I'm not sure my case will be as accommodating.

It's amazing that the latest Sam is the only motherboard to provide a practical solution to this problem.

I have an existing RX560 plugged into the 16x slot. I can't plug a 16 lane graphics card into anything other than a 16 x slot. Poor choice of words on my part, I guess I should say "adapter" rather than "extender".
