Hi,

@Billsey

Look at the Amiga ICS/ICC software :
[the only one i know]

http://www.ics.coloraid.de

68k only .. it would a good idee to develope
this to OS4 ;)

Hi,

very NICE idea

And .. if run your BlitterEMU good ...
The next step is the Amazing ChopperEMU

So .. at the end .. only for very hardcore HW banging
Games eUAE is needed ...

This would be a good reason for all the hardcore classic
user "i buy not an -Amiga- to run en Emu to run old Amiga
soft" come to OS4 ...

Hi,

if i buy new Amiga HW .. i will not go behind the possibilities
i have allready here on my A4000/060 CS-MK-III !

And SCSI is for ME a part of Amiga !

I know i cant hope for actuall support [U320/SAS] ...
But more than very Basic support .. an a little bit more
than my actuall [10 year old] system reached ist not
to much for 2007 ......

Re: Supported SCSI HW on OS4 [Final]

Hi,

@Kraftwerk

mmh .. it was a bit unclear ..
I need UW2 support on OS4 .. not the 80MB/sec .. sorry.
And my HD?s make this speed .. good to run it at
the speed he araives. [it was expensive enough]

Even UW2 scsi is not very actuall .. but it became me
is for the time being enough ...

With 8bit aSync transfer .. SCSI ist not usable for
anything serious on OS4 [only for OLD SCSI scanner and
emergency transfer the old data from scsi drives to non
scsi drives]

Mhh ... a very sad situation ..
I have 2 options now-

Buy for my 2 SCA HD?s and the DLT streamer 3 UW-SCSI>SATA
convertors to use it on the new HW .. with lower speed,
more costs,....

Or buy an alternative Computer and use WinUAE [with OS3.9]
on it for Games and wait for better scsi support on OS4 ..

Both are very "NOT GOOD" ...

Hi,

@sg2

This is VERY sad.

[btw.."high end scsi stuff" was FiberLine/SAS SCSI or at least
U320SCSI .. nut UW2 or U160SCSI .....]

I thinked with this mid-range-SCSI driver [from the supported
Chips max UW2 {80MB/sec} was possible] i can use it at least fully....

But now it looks like a BIG downgrading from my actual setup [Cyberstorm
MK-III UW-SCSI] who i have ~38MB/sec transfer rates ..... :( :(

If not another driver in development [even commercial] who give
me the 80MB/sec [UW2] .. i musst say OS4 is no option for me !

This is sad .. now who the Gaming question looks good with eUAE
and the native planar support .. the most ixemul stuff i use
runn now OS4 native or run with the [buggy] OS4 ixemul lib..
only the SCSI issue is a problem .. and i will on my Main computer
NOT switch back to IDE/SATA ....

I musst rethink the consequences ....... :(

Hi,

@cHaOs667

Thanks ;)

btw. .. which chip is used on the controller ..?

Have mainly focused on the 53c896 chip, it is the
[imho] latest incarnation of the 53c8xx family and
support 2 channel UW2-SCSI transfer [80MB/sec per
channel] .. well for the connection of ever one of
my two HD?s per channel .. everyone is a server
grade sca-hd with peek of ~80MB/sec .. so the lack
of actuall scsi [U160/U320] its painable with it

Re: Supported SCSI HW on OS4 [Final]

Hi,

to clarify ...
Have ATM found 3 cards with LSI53c896 scsi chips :

Tekram DC-390U2WE

-2 channel and no Cache RAM

HP RAID 4SI PCI 4 port Ultra2 SCSI RAID

-2 scsi chips and 2 channel per chip [4 channel] and
32MB cache RAM [battery backed up 72h]

LSI Logic MegaRAID Elite 1500 Dual-Channel Ultra2 SCSI RAID Controller

-2 channel and up to 128MB cache RAM [BBU]

so .. my question ...

Will on the Tekram work the second channel ?
And can i use the Cache RAM ?
And if the second chip supported on the HP controller ?

Supported SCSI HW on OS4 [Final]
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi,

Now .. OS4 is Done ;)
New HW is on the Way [hopefull] - I NEED IT ! ;)

Time to look for the system components - mainly
SCSI card ...

If the cache on SCSI cards supported by the actual Driver ?
If cards supported with more than One chanel ... ?
Will in future more [and better !] scsi chips supported ?

Straight bought a 80GB DLT drive [UW-SCSI] and think over
a new [72GB] SCA-SCSI server HD .......

Hi,

@sicky:

;)

Yes it looks strong [typical CSS :P ]
The login dont work.
It loads the "wait time" site and then ...

On AWeb it loads the account screen..
On IB2.3/2.4 it`s doing simple nothing more ... :(

But thanks for the Try :)

[or musst change anything in IB to work ?]

On my router [Telecom SpeedPort W501V WLan] only
the startsite is [partialy] loaded, it says my browser
is not supported and Javascript is disabled ...

[all the same which I adjust in spoofing]

Hi,

musst REALY say .. IB2.4 is a BIG step in the right direction !!!
I use only the Demo [I would have bought it, if IB2.4 work
with my router web-config {he does not do},although I wanted to buy only again one
if he does CSS -have in the old days bought AWeb]

It is VERY FAST [060/66-CV64] !
It is VERY small and resorce carefull !!
It is in the spirit of AMIGA !!!

Look forward to V3.0 ;)

[PS.: the mail site from an Girlfriend {www.post.sk} dont work
with IB2.4 too - with AWeb 3.5.08 it works {Javascript problem IMHO} ]

Hi,

have no CD32 .. but the wonderfull power of 2 CD32 emu pakages
for Amiga1200/4000 -> CD32 from the IDEFix pakage and CDBoot.

Have only 3 CD32 games [buy only CD32 title if he have a advantage
over the floppy version - or if available only on Cd32 ]
-> Microcosm ORGINAL 1A pakage [superior Amiga title ]
-> Little Devil [funny and very good gfx]
-> Guardian CD32 [more levels as floppy version and good music and
on 060/66 VERY FAST 3D combat!]

The first 2 running very good with the CD32 emu [with save working!]
and the last running full workung with CDBoot [save working
too - on the CD32 emu save not working]

Searching Flink CD32 [expensiv :\ ] .. but maybe ...

Hi,

well..i have realy no problem with the price
I wish i can buy a OS4 HW with Power5+ MulticoreChip Module ;)

But i think Ian-uk have the illusion the new amiga HW
is in the same price/power range as actual PC/MAC ..
This will not happen .. the difference will BIG !
If you dont accept this .. OS4 is the wrong way for you ..

Hi,

ALL new Amiga HW will overpriced ,compare to other
systems .. this is the reality.
If you buy 10k board .. maybe the price go down .. good luck.

Re: So what should we be compiling for....

Hi,

@BillE

It is full clear, a big project make no sense to backport
to OS3.x.

But cli tools and apps/Games that dont need CPU power
to much are viable to port back ..

The from me mentoned angband need no cpu power , the new openttd
port is another thing ... he needed for use the new feutures
more power as a classic 060 ..
But to play on standard maps on network [this is with the
actual 68k version not working] it was fine ..

Games like battleOfWesnot.. who the AOne musst hard work to
run the game smooth is naturaly out of question ..

And nice work with DU .. i like the screen-shots ;)

Hi,

i am ATM a classic user only .. [waiting of new HW ;) ]
But musst say ->

Compile for OS4 and the new feutures FIRST and then for 68k....
Miss realy the new Angband and OpenTTD ports on 68k ... but
understand the reason :)
