@walkero

It may have been snoopy then. I just seem to recall you opened up one of them and you were not getting any logging and needed to check a box to enable the logging. It might actually have been on your MorphOS video. I cannot remember now.

@all

In anycase, I took the source code from sourceforge and had to make some modifications to it due to obsolete/renamed DOS functions and general required changes to solve some compiler errrors, compiled and linked. This time, I no longer get a DSI error and it seems to operate, it just does not log any activity. Not sure if I have to click on something or that I should accept that it is just currently not really well supported for OS4.

I guess the solution is to use snoopy, or, wait and see if I am doing something wrong with SnoopDOS, or, if I am not making any mistakes, consider fixing SnoopDOS to work with OS4 so that it logs things.

SnoopDos causes a DSI error

I downloaded:http://os4depot.net/share/utility/misc/snoopdos.lha and extracted it to a directory.

I ran the application and then attempted to click on the "Setup" button. A DSI error occurs and a box saying something like "Error opening settings window".

Anyone know why this is the case?

When using "snoopy" I can see:

00158 : reaper.task     FAIL GetVar("ELF.debug",0x6D0E81C0,19,0x00000000) [76uS]

But I don't think that is relevant and only happens after the issue with SnoopDos.

I have seen this application working on George's youtube video, so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Hmm, I am not convinced that it is string.gadget that is causing the issue. I just happened to check the two versions on my X1000 and my X5000 and they are both the same. I can log in using the X1000.

Is anyone able to login using the SSHTerm popup password box?

WarpSNES / Snes9x Controllers (SOLVED)
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

I have a USB controller. "AmigaInput" recognises it fine and I can calibrate it, etc. It also works okay with FPSE.

For Snes9x, if I go to the tab named "AmigaInput" I can select "Joypad" only if I enable "Joystick" in the config file. But, I cannot click where it says "CURSOER_LEFT" for Left etc. It does not seem possible to modify these values.

For WarpSNES, the only option I get in "Select Device" is "Keyboard". I read that I should map the USB controller to LowLevel Port 0 / Mouse but that also does not seem to have any effect.

So, I decided to try and use AmigaInputAnyware, but "Button 1" on there does not seem to match "Button 1" on the emulators.

Can anyone help?

@kas1e
Earlier in this thread you mentioned an AHI in prefs. I cannot see the updated version in the Enhancer 2.1, can you tell me where to get the updated version?

I installed the FX card and it is working fine, just wondering about the newer version of AHI prefs. I could not find anything obvious on OS4DEPOT.

Thanks.

It just seems odd that the hardware would stop. Can you bung in a temp replacement hdd with a quick and fresh install of os4feu2 and see if it works with that?

I also got the FX card after kas1e mentioned it. It's currently waiting to be installed since I am trying to mend an a1200.

Regarding the os4 community and NG machines, I am new. Only started since November 2021. So far I love it, but I am niave. Since that time, November, I now own an X1000 and X5000 and they are my main machines and despite the hardware hacks and some hardware choices and the minute core developers, I love it all.

It does have me worried though... Hans is just one example and has done some great work, but what's happens if he was to get ill somehow. Who would then continue his work? God forbid anything like that would happen.

I will make a bug report and also get some encoding information using linux to go a long with it. Will do that in the next few days.

@LiveForIt

Thank you for the response.

How shall I find out what to rename the file to? Is there a command to find out exactly what BOARDTYPE should be?

@salass00

I can confirm that entering the password as an argument directly works.

Solution: Wait for an update to "string.gadget"

I will mark it as solved.

For reference, the current version of string.gadget for me is (the one that is apparently causing the issue):
version file full string.gadget
string
.gadget 53.22 (16/06/2017)

SSHTerm "Authentication password failed" (SOLVED)
Quite a regular

On my X1000 this works fine, but on my X5000 SSHTerm refuses to connect.

I have downloaded the latest SSHTerm. I have copied over those file to my Programs partition. I have added a "HOME" assign to Workbench:S, I have created a .ssh folder in there.

I run something like: "sshterm 4.4.4.4 myUserName", I got a prompt to enter my password. I enter the correct password and then I get, to stdout/stderr: "Authentication password failed".

I have also the latest AMISSL installed.

=== edit
BTW, I can log into my machines using ssh/Openssh without any problems.

In order to install a fresh OS4FEU2, I needed - initially - an HD card. When I installed my Enhancer v2 etc and put in the RX card the devs/monitors still shows: HD 5450. Should I update this at all?

Sure, but I can skip with 54.8 and not with 54.9...

-Open up an AVI file
- Attempt to skip half way through
- See that the video starts from the beginning

I have reverted back to 54.8.

Not sure if I did something wrong in the update, but if it really is a binary drop in replacement, then this is some sort of regression.

RadeonRX.chip 2.8.

Okay,

reboot fast

is the equivalent command.

I really do not want to spend another half a day installing things one by one to figure out where the conflict is. Let's just see if I get anyone else having encountered the same issue before I force myself to do that. Not having this ability will get annoying, quick.

Shutdown>Restart OS issue (X5000) (SOLVED)
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

On my X5000 I can no longer use the Shutdown>Retart Amiga OS feature.

My X5000 came installed with AOS4FEU2; the issue was present even then. I wanted a clean install from scratch for myself anyway. As I built up the install I tested this feature at various times and it worked. Even after installing the enhancer 2.1 files / radeonRX and installing the RX card it all worked.

All I know is that in the last few hours I have made some GUI/Workbench prefs tweaks and that I have installed the Z-TOOLS. Now, when I try to "restart AmigaOS" I just get a black screen saying that there is no input.

There seems to be some issue here that does not happen on my X1000 and I am not sure what it is.

What is the equivalent command to "Shutdown>Restart AmigaOS" that I can run from shell and/or can I get any serial output when I try this.

Trying to figure this one out.

@kas1e

Thanks. I ordered the sound card you suggested which frees up a PCI slot.

As for the UBOOT menu, is it possible to delete the entry that says "boot morphos" / "boot linux" or are these hardcoded menu options (gadgets) that you must keep?
