Re: AmigaInput Queston

If you want to test out AmigaInput then you can use:

Runs an SDL2 window and actually uses LowLevel library for the input. You can test out if you have configured it properly / if AmigaInput has actually honoured your settings (it only checks port 0):
gll: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rhi0dfbanzew35w/gll?dl=0

Runs from shell where you can check all 4 ports:
ll: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hvizygzyyakyc8p/ll?dl=0

Have no idea whether those links will work since dropbox always confuses me.

These links don't work for Odyssey at least, but I don't have any server I can upload them too.

@levellord

Yes, it saves them, but it saves them as binary format, which is not readable.

You will see in your Prefs/Env-Arch/Sys/AmigaInput/

But, for sure, it saves the information.

But...

I think amigainputanyware: http://os4depot.net/share/utility/hardware/amigainputanyware.lha my actually save us here.

You can configure that to make your controller act as a keyboard. Since the SNES emulators do work with a keyboard, it is a matter of messing around with AIA to map the controller buttons on the correct keyboard buttons.

Re: AmigaInput Queston

Okay, I spent some time actually creating a program running in shell to test out just what "AmigaInput" does by using the LowLevel library.

It does actually work.

When I save things in the AmigaInput window I can see that my program detects the controller and the mapped buttons.

I tested transfering over my USB controller to port 1 as well as port 0 and my program correctly detects that and the buttons that I saved in AmigaInput.

In that case, I have to conclude that there is something wrong with both WarpSNES and Snes9X-OS4 which offer no way to actually change devices / remap buttons. But... that just does not sound correct. Surely, there is a way?

The SNES emulators use this low-level?

In that case, are they also broken?

For example, do I need to change the opengl function calls, or are they wrapped in these mentioned libraries?

@kas1e

Thank you.

What I am looking for is a demonstration, or a list of commits.

As an example:

Say I have created ab OpenGL application on my x86 Linux OS machine of a simple rotating rubix cube.

I make a fresh repository for the code on my amiga machine. I try to run MAKE, of course... it fails.

What changes must I make to the code?
What new files must I include?
What new libraries to link against?

Is there an existing repository with version control that I could look at the commits, ideally from a code base that was originally for a non-Amiga OS?

regards.

My issue may not be related, but when you configure your LowLevel in that screen and click on save and then reopen it, does it save all of that information.

I have a controller too, it is one of those ibuffalo SNES controllers. it works with fpse for which i do not need to configure anything in the AmgaInput.

But, for the SNES emulators: Warp and Snes9x, I cannot change any controller setting.

When I configure the low level and assign to unit 0, map the buttons and click on save, if I reopen the screen it just looks like all the information has been lost.

Porting OpenGL (SOLVED)

I think the SDL port(s) to Amiga are one of the finest steps made for our community. Thank you to those (he/she) involved in that.

But, how easy is it to port an application that uses OpenGL? I have not looked into Doom 3, but I think it uses OpenGL...

I know that there are a number of libraries/wrapper libraries, but is there a WIKI page, or a good source of information that demonstrates porting a simple open gl application over to AmigaOS?

Thanks.

From left to right.

stock amiga 1000 (parceiro and m1438s monitor), underneath is an Amiga 600 vampire v2 inidivision ecs dvdrom pcmcia ethernet etc, underneath x1000 with catweasel 7950 radeon, x5000 r7 fractal with 560 rx, top right is amiga check mate 1500 inside is an amiga 500 rev6 megachip aca500+ aca 1233n xsurf 500 indivision ecs megachip 2mb chip gbp gbapi++.

Not shown, because I need to get around to it, is my amiga 1200 tower setup with mediator 1200 and bppc, radeon 92XX, fast ata and all that stuff.

I love it all.

Sorry, since I was at South West Amiga UK last weekend, I have been getting heavily back into my classic machines. No doubt I'll be more active with my NG machines shortly!.

Also not shown is a number of other things, like my 1083s, 8833 mk2 philips crt, many motherboards from a500 to a1200 that I recap and sell on.

Amiga Is.

Yeah the Daewoo is my original monitor that I used for my first PC in the 90s. I had to change the flyback in it recently. It's certainly not a great crt by any means. That is the checkmate inside is a 500 rev6, aca500+, aca 1233n and fpu, gbapi video card in the zorro expander and megachip.

To the left of the screen I have amiga 1000, to the right of th3 checkmate I have a 600 in a micronik II tower, vampire v2, ecs indivision, clock port, cd drive, hacked lyra 3. Need to get around to setting up my 1200 tower project too but fitting the mediator board along with the indivision and fast ata is kind of a nightmare.

I have almost stopped using my classic machines since getting my AmigaOnes.

X1000 in fractal r3 (or r4, cannot remember) on left. X5000 in fractal r7 on right.

Quite beautiful I think.

Thanks George.

How easy would it be to change your git hub one to show the download zip option? Or is that using too much js?

Re: error: lvalue required as increment operand

Just taking the first example of
val=*((UWORD*)chunkbuf)++;

Is the intention just to grab whatever chunkbuf is pointing at and then increment chunkbuf to the next location?

val=*(UWORD*)(chunkbuf++);

This time, the lvalue is chunkbuf. Surely that is what the original intention was...

Not sure if the original intention was to increment the pointer as if it was a UWORD just before getting the value into val.

Re: SSHTerm "Authentication password failed"

Interesting.

I now have a solution.

On the X5000 I can actually use the requester box and insert my password, but I must click on OK instead of pressing RETURN. If I press RETURN then I get an authentication failure. On the X1000 I can either press RETURN or click on OK.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help so far.

PREFS QUIET

made no difference.

I did notice, though, that on my X5000 SSHTerm invokes repeated calls to OpenDevice(timer.device), whilst on the X1000 this does not happen. Not sure why there is a difference there, but that is the only one I see through use of SNOOPY.

I also ensured that all versions of all the libraries being opened by SSHTerm were the same on both machines, including the same version of AMISSL libs.

X5000 Extremely Fast Boot

Quite a regular

I was trying my old KVM switch box to share keyboard and mouse with X5000 and other computer.

Noticed that when I didn't switch over to X5000 on the KVM, the X5000 booted up extremely quickly. The rotating ball was spinning so quickly and the shooting star very quick. It was about 10 to 20 times quicker.

Has anyone else experienced this?
