Re: SCSI Adapters

@Swoop

I have a Tekram DC-390U2W. I bought 2 some time back. They work pretty well with my AmigaOne XE. I'm using it mostly with my scanner, but I backed up two old SCSI HD too.
You have to add an an ENV-var in UBoot.

If you are interested, I really don't need a spare one, you can pm me.

Re: AmigaDos scripts OS4 [solved]

@goody

The problem is solved, it was my fault, there was a space at the end of this line

Quote:

SETENV ARGUMENT "{FILE}"

the second strange thing is, that many spaces get added albeit there is only one space (and nothing else) after the quotes.

in the example you couldn't see that work: became work:
(with many spaces after and not one).

but since the problem is solved...

anyway, thanx for the reply.

AmigaDos scripts OS4 [solved]
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

Hello,
can someone please try out this script:
Quote:

.key FILE
.bra {
.ket }

set echo on
echo "{file}"
SETENV ARGUMENT "{FILE}"
echo "$argument"
getenv argument
dir "{FILE}"
dir $argument
dir "$argument"
set echo off

the problem is, that the latter "DIR" command does not work.
In some kind of weird way, here I get a lot of spaces added to the
argument.
So "work:" becomes "work: " hence DIR or whatever command
will not work.

But on the third last line the script will fail if
a dir like "ram Disk:Rename Me" is given.

AFAI can tell, SETENV adds the unwanted spaces.

So I can think of a workaround for this, but my question is more: is there a general error on how
I'm using the variables or is it a bug?

thx

(the same script works with os3.9)

ok, maybe someone sees this as pretty silly, anyway

I just want to say thanx again to the all OS4 devs..
And hope Rogue get's the force, so that some small stiches
from people won't upset him too much!

I just used my old Artec scanner with ScanQuix under OS4.
Fast and work done in 2 mins.
This is since July update, on OS4 final, the scanprocess crashed.

the lsi53c8xx_override option works well.

SO A BIG THANK YOU from me! (sorry for shouting)

@MigthyMax

I just tried it out with a mighty mouse..it get recognized properly both after cold&warm reboot and even on powerup. It might be because the mouse is connected to a powered USB hub?

OS4.200707 on AmigaOne XE G4, not fixed and SII0680.

Oh come on, I don't think there will really be someone with so few selfesteem to get offended by such stories!

I never understood why patriotism is leading people to get offended by sterotypes..

anyway I'm interested in humor be it dark or whatever from other regions of this beautifull planet. I helps understand different mentality I think.

Well if you still think you will upset someone feel free to send it throught pm or mail if you want.

wrote this in a hurry, hope it's understandable.

@keisangi

again I agree with what you are saying and the more I read it the more I can't immagine OS4 devs haven't thought about that by themselfs...there..must... be some-thing/one impeding them to do so for os4.0...??? (hint)

@keisangi

I agreed with you a lot of times regarding UTF support in OS4, but frankly in no way I find it right the way you keep arguing with TetiSoft. In your phrasing you always make it sound, like he's the culprit of OS4 not being upto the standards other oses are or him being the one holding innovation back. That's not fair, from my point of view he tries to explains in a non-developer understandable way why many things are not possible yet. The first goal was to port AmigaOS to PPC. Now they can start adding other features. Obviously the most important first.

About that sandboxing thing, it sounds like a good idea too, but I think we don't have to forget that the hole AmigaOS to PPC process started a while back and AFAIK and remember this current approach was chosen back then. So what, should they have thrown away all the work and started from scratch somewhen in the middle of the process? Could they even do that wihtout changing contracts already signed?

I'm pretty happy with the state of OS4 and considering all this legal thing that is going on and the crap that might be has happended behind the scenes, even more that we have what we have.

@all

thank you so much, this was really helpfull!
I just made a search on ebay and found some controllers.

I already have cables and 68 to 50 pins adapters from the old A4000 times. So in a few day's I'll be trying if ScanQuix5 and fxScan3 work properly under OS4.
Wasn't there a more recent version of fxScan? Maybe it's worth upgrading.

AmigaOne SCSI

I want to add a SCSI controller since I still have a free PCI slot in my XE. Why? There's my old but only few times used and perfectly working Artec AM12S scanner waiting to be plugged in.

There is only one _not working_ card listed On intuitionbase. I know we have the driver for the
SYM/LSI lsi53c8xx chips.

Is there no one usig SCSI on the A1? :-O

Would be nice if someone could please post some SCSI-cards with such a chip. :)

I tried a google but had no luck. neither on ebay, a lot of scsi cards but mostly no chipset listed.

thanx a lot

gosh, I'm tired, need some sleep..is this post readeable ad all? :-/
