Hiya, Oh yes, I just noticed that without a full path in front of the song it doesn't load. D'oh!

For example:

Appdir:tunenet 02_Frankenstein.mp3
....won't play the song

appdir:tunenet mp3:02_Frankenstein.mp3
...will work.

I must have broken something prior to release.

I've produced an update which fixes some minor niggles, I'll include in it the fix for this as well.

Has this been fixed in TuneNet 0.92.56?
I still can't seem to get it to work from the shell. Either playing a file in my drive or streamming for the internet.

Can anyone get this clip to play when from the commandline with TuneNet?

Here is another one for you bean.

When I try to play a .mp3 song located on the internet it plays the first 2 or 3 seconds then quits playing. MPlayer plays it just fine. Here's the command line I'm using. Am I doing something wrong?

appdir:TuneNet -stream http://home.comcast.net/~ktadd/Sample_Files/Audio/ChasingCars.mp3

It should play for about 20-30 seconds. Give it a try.
I also noticed that once I try to play it with Tunenet, then MPlayer won't play it at all. Sorry to be a pain. I test software for a living so breaking things comes naturally to me.

Does TuneNet v0.92.44 work for anyone else from the Shell?

When I type:
APPDIR:Tunenet mysong.mp3
The proper verson of Tunenet starts up but the song never plays.

When I type:
APPDIR:Tunenet -nogui mysong.mp3
I can see Tunenet startup in "Ranger" but then it immediatly shuts down.

The mp3 plays fine if I load it from the GUI. Any ideas?

Just a little note about the version number.
In the about the version number shows as v0.92.44 while in the icon it shows as .9924 (no "." between the 9 and 2).

By the way, very nice update! I now use Tunenet in a subdoc! Thanks Bean!

Question / Info on AmiDock?
Quite a regular
Quite a regular

After getting AmiDock setup the way I like on OS4.1.1, I'm left with a couple of questions:
(Click HERE for a picture of workbench showing the AmiDock. No fancy shadows, it's a uA1.)

1. Is there documentation somewhere on AmiDock?

2. Is there a way to have subdocks stay open after choosing an item?
I'm using a subdock to have appdocks open up on but when I try to control the app, like clicking "Play" on the Tunenet appdock, the button works but the subdock closes. The workaround I'm using now it to have a button on the maindock that will open and close the subdock.

3. What does the "Popup Size" setting do?
I don't see anything change when I change it's setting.

Oh and just a word of warning, the "Place App Dockies in" dropdown menu is limited to 11 subdocks. Any subdocks after the 11th aren't listed so you can't set it o have appdocs open on them. I found this out the hard way as my Appdock was number 15 at first. I had to go edit the amidoc XML file manually to switch it with the 11th so it would be listed. Hey, that was eaiser than deleting 5 subdocks and having to set them up again. Besides, now I know how the amidoc XML file works.

For AIM try AmigAIM found HERE!
It's 68K but should run on AmigaOS4 just fine. At least a few revs older version runs fine on OS4 for me on a uA1.

Take a quick look at what version of the TextEditor.mcc MUI library you are using. V15.29 amd v15.30 will cause the crashes. Use either v15.28 or I think there is a version 15.31 is available soemwhere. I went back to v15.28. Both Yam and Simplemail use this editor.

Would it be too hard to add 'Mailto:' to ClipDown? When the user copies the mailto link to ClipDown it could start the users preferred EMail program (YAM, Simplemail, whatever) and put the address of the link in the 'To' field.

I suppose it's possible but if your thinking of using it with OWB then OWB has a tooltype that you can set which will allow it to use OpenURL. Then when you click on a Mailto: link it will open which ever email program you have OpenURL set to. I have the OWB tooltype set as follows with OpenURL set to SimpleMail and it works quite well: OPENURL=MyC:OpenURL %s

Does this accomplish what you want to do or were you thinking of some other use case?

How to do auto-exit of ClipDown, when i exit from OWB ?

No way to do it that I know of, unless I try to monitor OWB's process from ClipDown, but then that would make ClipDown OWB specific. Anyone have other ideas on how to accomplish this?

Quote:
Any way to disable that output window ?

That window is generated by ClipDown so right now there is no way to get rid of it. I've been thinking of changing ClipDown to only open a console window when downloading so progress can be seen but not in other cases, unless a verbose type option is provided.

Quote:
It is possible to "connect" clipdown button somehow to the OWB ?

Well, I tried setting up the OWB bookmark tooltype to have the bookmark icon startup ClipDown but it didn't work. If it did I was thinking I could use that button to have ClipDown do it's downloading. I didn't play with it that much though. The only way to truly integrate ClipDown into OWB's source code. Unfortunatly OWB is written in C++ and Clipdown is written in C so it would probably be a pretty big hack and it would probably be better just to put the effort into implementing a real download manager in OWB so it would actually be supportable.

Sorry I don't have better answers for you. I'm open to any ideas other might have.

I don't seem to be able to download YouTube videos with this version. I believe I could with the previous version. The videos play just fine.

If you can play YouTube videos but not download them then it sounds like getvideo cannot find wget. Make sure wget is in the sys:c directory or you have the path to wget set in the getvideo.cfg file. If your using getvideo.cfg it needs to reside in the Sys:Prefs/Env-Archive directory.

How hard would it be to add some small buttons to the left or right of the 'Auto' button for Play Only, Play and save, Save only, etc...? Instead of text for the buttons you could have small icons, or maybe a single letter. Leave 'Auto' the way it is, it should be bigger than the rest.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've thought quite a bit about how to make it easier to change download modes but haven't come up with a way I'm happy with yet. I could add more buttons as you suggest but I really want to keep ClipDowns foot print as small as possible so I'm leary about adding a bunch of buttons. Remember you can change modes via key commnads of if you set you menus to pop up under the mouse location you can just activate the ClipDown window and hold the right mouse button down to select the mode.

I've just uploaded a new v2.5 that allows you to start in any one of the available modes so maybe that will help if you find yourself using one mode more than others.

Having said that, here are a couple of ideas I've thought about to make switching modes easier.

1. Make the button a dropdown menu style button so when you click it it drops down a list of the modes that take action when you select one.

2. Keep the action button as is but put a dropdown menu style button with just the down arrow next to select the mode when clicked or it could execute the action when selected instead of changing the mode.

Inputs/ideas would be appreciated.

Well, that could added but personally it would annoy me.
Right now you can do it by just selecting what you want to do first from the Download menu before clicking the Action button. If it's a video your accessing with getvideo you can select from the getvideo choices. If it's a video your accessing directly then currently you only get a choice of saving, using the "file" selection or Playing using either "Auto" or "Play with MPlayer" mode. Would it be sufficient to just add a "Save then Play with MPlayer" selection to the menu?

Also, when you played the yotube video and it asked you if you wanted mp4 etc, does the standard installation of clipdown do this or will i have to configure it to get these options?

That's a feature of getvideo. As I recall it comes set standard to ask. You can control getvideo's behaviour by editing the getvideo.cfg file it comes with and putting it into Sys:Prefs/EnvArc directory. Not sure about the name "EnvArc" but it's something like that. Can't access the Amiga at the moment.

Very nice indeed. Would be xtra super duper cool if you could be able to integrate it into owb. And just hold rmb and select clipdown and voila.

Well, if you use OWBLauncher to start OWB you can create a script something like the following to start ClipDown at the same time OWB is started:
(don't include the dashed lines)

-----------------------
OWBLauncher
WaitForPort OWB.1
"Develop:Cubic IDE/workspace/ClipDown/ClipDown" -s origynwebbrowser -t -x 1326 -y 16 -v "Work:Video/Players/MPlayer/mplayer -quiet"
-----------------------

remove the '-t origynwebbroswer' option if you run OWB in Workbench.
Set -x and -y values to the position you want ClipDown to appear at.
Set -v to your path to Mplayer.

Just save the script, create an icon for it and change the default tool to IconX.
Then one click of the icon start OWB and ClipDown.
This is the way I use it. The only downside is if you run on OWB's screen the screen won't close until both OWB and ClipDown are quit.

Check out the videos of ClipDown. New v2.5 released!

I've had some fun this morning and created some videos on ClipDown.
They can be found HERE along with some other Amiga related videos.

I've experimented around with the equipment I purchased so these videos are a little better quality than previous ones.

I've broken the videos into the following sections to keep the files smaller:

ClipDown Intro
ClipDown ToolTypes
ClipDown Menus
ClipDown in Action

The "ClipDown Intro" is done in Hollywood using Designer so you get to see a little of what it can to. "ClipDown in Action" shows clipdown being used with OWB to view a PDF file, a JPEG file, a YouTube video and play a music clip from Amazon's mp3 music store. Le me know what you think!
