Re: AmigaInput

@nubechecorre

There is no AmigaInput in the latest OS4 version.

It was taken out due to bugs, it will be back with the next
update. There were threads about how to use AmigaInput from
earlier updates, though

Re: Printers
Home away from home
Home away from home

@thread

Not that old of a thread, so it's practically still alive

I got a HP Laserjet 5L from a rummage sale (well, tbh i got
it because i fixed a lovely lady's PeeCee - still, it WAS
for sale) and tried it on the AOne parallel port ...

... nearly instant success, with the HP_Laserjet_5 driver
and a first try in AmigaWriter it worked straight out of
the box (after i taught AmigaWriter that there *IS* a
printer attached, no matter what the program thinks)

I now have formatted text on print-outs again
(need to test graphics though, it's a b/w, but thats ok)

Thank you Hyperion, thanks for all you done so far

/me is breaking every lance for Hyperion me can get

edit: graphis are fine from AW

Skins : Have you installed the expat library? See TuneNet site downloads for details. If so try one of the example skins ( lights ) that definately works.

I had an old expat.lib installed (v4.3 from i don't know
where) instead of OS4depot.net's 2.3
(It IS hard to keep up to date with those versions around)

Ash on my head, sorry for the hazzle on this one

Quote:

Can you:

a/ check all plugins are up to date and reboot.

b/ Clear down to 0 plugins and launch / quit.

c/ Add a plugin, and keep doing step c until the problem occurs then note which 2 plugins were last added.

a/ Everything up-to-date, not one old version around, i even
found one (MSX) which i hadn't before

b/ Done - no crash AND no AWeb oddities (!)

c/ Done - no crash upto 32 plugins AND no AWeb oddities
either. BUT with adding a 33rd plugin i get AWeb's bad
behaviour again, still no crash though.

...testing on

OK, heres the resumee, i got ZERO crashes on quit, need to
test further as this was no real life(tm) case, but it seems
it could have been my old expat.lib(?)

PS: It's great to have you back

Aweb : Can you describe fully?

Without TuneNet, everything is fine
as soon as TuneNet was started and fully closed again, AWeb
will start crashing with "AWeb retrieve task".
Further investigation of the crashlog reveals not much to me,
maybe you see something interesting?

Problem is it's crashing permanently once it has started,
one can "Ignore" but it will be 100% sure to pop up again
on the next site access.

We had this crash before, there is a thread on Amigans.net
already, unfortunately we thought it fixed back then...
probably a plugin related issue too?

Re: TuneNet bug...

@bean

-The "Aweb retrieve" bug is back again and it annoys a lot

-Installing a 32nd plugin, opening and closing TN without
playing a song results in a crash with whatever plugin i
install - crashlog

-I get a "An error occured whilst loading the skin"
requester on every try to load skins, with every skin i
tried.

Thanks for the hotfix, at least those requesters asking for
funny assigns/partitions are gone now

Re: TuneNet plugin bugs
Home away from home
Home away from home

@spotUP

as i don't post on that other website, i hope you don't mind
keeping this thread alive?

it won't be long anyway, i just have to throw in my two cents

so far i have seen the following behaviours

plugins that crash after a song was played (tested with an
MP3 and ogg, so no special case with the plugin itself,
seems to be an descriptor error or something)

1) TN_AHX.tnplug 1.2 (20.03.2006)
(not sure where i got this one from)

plugins that crash regardless of a song has been played (say
you open TuneNet and close it immediately afterwards - could
be a problem of the Docky though?)

1) TN_YM.tnplug 51.1 (19.11.2006)
2) TN_YMAMP.tnplug 1.2 (17.03.2008)

the strangest thing though is, as soon as i add plugin
number 32, EVERY added plugin (as long as i stay with 32)
keeps brining up this infamous "Please insert "some garbage""
requester...there's something wrong there...

another thing is i cannot use skins anymore, it keeps telling
me there is a problem with the images...

Re: MIDI on OS4
Home away from home

@Valiant

TiMIDIty is a program for those who cannot use MIDI hardware.
It emulates the hardware by playing .mid files through i.e.
AHI or converting them to .wav.

You are looking for a MIDI player that initializes you
hardware and send the Sysex commands and MIDI notes to it
to make it play...

Try D'alba Giovanni's DG_MIDI_Player.

There's also an older player called PlayFM.

What hardware are you using btw?

Re: IBrowse Development ?

@Hans

But wouldn't they want to i.e. spread their software to
platforms they themself won't/can't support.

Maybe it would be a nice idea to kindly ask if they'd
license a player for say the Amiga derivates out there, so
one could get cracking with the real dev docs and without
being flamed on other Amiga platforms...

...and if Adobe wants money for the license, we could start
a bounty (if the demand is inside some boundaries)?

Brainstorming...

Maybe make it a lib (i think all Amiga "clones" can use libs?)
