@rjd324

So the problem is probably the actual Codec
: MSNV (MSNV/mp42/isom) codec.

@SinanSam460

The eeprom rewrite seems to be failing or writing a bad image
so the board does not reach of finish the initializing stage.
The red and orange lights don't flash .

@M3x & SinanSam460

There is definitely a problem of some sort .

Updating via DVD drive using the "55" version .
no error but no boot after pressing "R" at the end of the process.

@m3x & SinanSam460

Thanks.

Found the bios chip from my first Sam460ex .
Managed to get it to boot using this one.
Pondering my options for the update.

will try to find a working dvd drive .
And work slower if I do attempt the U-Boot Update .

The socket on my board has always seemed to be a bit flaky.
Have had to put pressure on the chip to get the board to boot from time to time over the years.
Had the same issue with the old chip that I just installed also .
Made several attempt at re inserting the chip before it worked consistently.

The Hybrid drive has 8GB of cache that it handles automatically.

@TiredOfLife

Interesting.

When I did my Sam460 version I just added the Radeon RX driver to the kicklayout and it boots ok.
I created a USB drive which is writable instead of an ISO or DVD.
Using an Radeon Rx550 4B.
The updated version I did on Sunday gone also works with no other adjustments. Boot USB uses SFS/00 .

@kas1e

Ah ok thank for the clarification.

Heat sink is well glued on on both my fired board and my working replacement (2014 batch). So they may have used a different glue on your batch or it was not properly glued on with your board .
So probably you should Email A-Cube for directions .

@kas1e

For the Sam460ex the script sets

setenv _INSTALL_HWACCEL 0

in all cases.

And unlike the X1000 script there is no

:Installation-Files/GUI-compose.prefs env:sys/GUI.prefs

line so no compositing option set at installation with any video card.

@kas1e

No Composite Support with the RadeonHD Lite version on the Sam460ex ISO .

Quote:
Lite version is supplied as an OEM driver under agreement to third parties. This version is intended for emergency boot and installation of the AmigaOS4.1 Final Edition CD and therefore is limited to 800x600 pixel screen resolution and compositing is not possible. It does not contain any SPE-FPU optimisations and it does not support 64-bit VRAM.

A 40mm case fan will fit on top of the heat sink.
I replace the original one and it screws on with the screws fitting in the heat sink groves .

If the same heat sink from previous models with groves in them the
Screws to fasten the fan need to fit into the spaces in the heat sink.
