@Alkaron

No problem...

Never been near a Spectrum I am afraid...

To clarify...I just designed the case for the 1541 Ultimate which is the creation of Gideon.

It needed a case, a cartridge/standalone solution and I made one for it!

I have used the 1541 Ultimate with my C64 and I think it's one of the best things to grace this great machine!

Hi everyone,

Not strictly Amiga stuff...more C64 related news but here it goes:

I have been working on this together with the case for the SAM (which is 70% complete!) throughout winter so if you are a C64/1541 Ultimate user please have a look:

thank you very much and I hope to show you the SAM case soon!

Moderators: please move to appropriate section as I don't know how to do it!

Hi,

I am not the author of this Amiga Map sorry, I have just reported the news.

I think you can edit it, see if you can contact the author on the minimig.net site:

@nubechecorre

This is great news, now we need hardware renderer and Quake 2 and 3 sorted out.

Then I would like to be able to run Heretic II, Freespace, Wipeout 2097 and Shogo.

Payback runs already I think

Excellent stuff!

@COBRA

Good job there!

Timedemo demo2

1024x768 14.5 fps

800x600 way faster until a GR appeared.

Is this software render only?

Can it be combined with hardware to see how fast the ATI can run it?

On 5 years old laptop (P4 2.8GHz with ATI mobility 7000 IGP)

1024x768 37 FPS

So not bad at all

@Allanon

I have tested the SAM with a TFT monitor using DVI and the picture is very clear so it's something to do with the VGA on the latest batches of SAMs.

I would wait for the backplate.

@everyone

I have spoken to ACube:

1) Missing pins/headers are of no use to the end user, so we can relax now

2) Quality of display when connected to a CRT VGA monitor using the DVI-VGA adapter is being investigated. It seems to be ok when the signal is taken directly from the board.

3) The backplate is being worked on. It should present all the apertures for the existent connectors plus USB, 5.1 sound connectors and VGA connector (signal taken directly from the motherboard).

SAM and quality of the display
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi,

I have got two SAMs on my desk, one looks like a first batch (it has everything on it, the FPGA connector etc...) and the picture quality on my 19" VGA monitor with DVI-VGA adapter is crystal clear.

The other SAM board arrived this morning (batch 3?) it hasn't got the following:

J28
J6
J26
J8
J4
J3

j9 / j4 no idea what they are for

j8 is reserved for the cpu?!

j26 is used to connect touchscreens?!

There is no big connector at the bottom (where the ATX is).

AND

the picture quality is not as good with the same monitor and DVI-VGA adapter (I have also tried another adapter but still the same).

Vertical lines on the screen, especially visible with a white/grey background. They are not proper lines but they seem to be like when there is interference. Ghost effect with text.

Is anyone experiencing the same?

@LiveForIt

>>I think you need to unpack the .pak files manually, I don?t remember the details I?m shore there is a guide some where describing this.

And you need the OS4 exe file of Quake2, the upgrade can be downloaded after registering Quake2 at Hyperion, the upgrade should then be available in download area, you might need to contact H.J.F. or T.F. to get game registered.

I have unpacked all the .pak files.
I have got the original Hyperion Q2 cd.
Maybe I need the upgrade too...as you say.

It is a problem related to SamEP440, hope to see it fixed soon...

Strange, I am sure someone said that they have all the Quakes (1,2 and 3) running perfectly on SAM440EP...

@Mikey_C

Hello,

I have Hyperion's Quake 2 CD.

When I install it I get a GR.

So I downloaded another version from os4depot, this works but it's green.

Which patch do I need for OS4.1?

Thanks
