@Antique

Just look for Linux examples, Google for socket programming and TCP and Linux

@Raziel

I think it might be possible if one patched the loadseg() function in ExecSG to forward execution of 68k program, I have not looked inn to this, but I think it is possible.

I don?t really mind starting E-UAE when like to play old game, but E-UAE is so slow compared whit OS4 JIT execution, and this way really like to see some great improvements in the chipset emulators for OS4.

I have few feature requests for E-UAE,

1. Proper screen integration whit the host OS.
2. support for OS4 block devices as hard-drives in E-UAE
3. 680x0 to PPC JIT emulation in E-UAE

Don?t mind an updated SDK and version of OS4 for the PowerUP users, but I don?t mind Hyperion and co taking a few weeks weal deserved vacation, just don?t make it a year

But on the hardware side I like some good news, anyone working on some hardware for OS4?

@nubechecorre

Yes.. Provided you have all the chipset emulation need for the game, games that can be started from workbench should be able to run, if they do not contain any bugs.

I do not think WHDload games will work.

You should not use the program if you get GR?s.

We need games and web browsers,

We need a web-browser for serious users.

And we need Games so we can relax when we are over worked

Re: Future of Picasso96 and AHI?

@Shadowolf

I don?t think these things affect one or the other, the developers has been working on different parts of the OS, they have different expertise.

Basically what is needed to port AmigaOS4 to new hardware is, new driver for the north / south chips drivers (PS2, USB, PCI, SERIAL bus support), then every thing else will work out of box provided there already exist drivers for soundcard, graphic card, and provided they don?t need to support yet an other bootloader.

New graphics system will work on all AmigaOS4 supported hardware the day you replace a few graphics related kickstart module in sys:kickstart/

I don?t think it?s going to have any major effect, if you have FPE installed you know it really amazing how well it works on an AmigaOne 800Mhz, now image a multi core CPU like CELL whit all it?s SPE, PPE cores, I do not think you have any problem emulating a Playstation 1 rally.

@Raziel

When new graphics and sound system get developed, they most likely going to provide a backwards compatibility API (wrapper), this way old program can benefit to some degree from new enchantments.

Some thing called Extreme Audio where to replace AHI, I think the idea where to implement an Audio system that where none blocking, maybe some thing that makes it easy to implement OpenAI or AHX on top off.

There is also been talks about 3d based graphics system, (currently OS4 system support, none blocking menus, none blocking window dragging and resizing.)
