AmigaOne XE, Micro A1-C questions
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I made this new post, becouse previous discussion on OS4 fe internet problem was beginning offtopic.

@number6
OK, I will not touch any of U-boots

inside my Micro is CPU FX v2.2. Originally 800 MHz, overclocked to 866 MHz. 933 MHz is unstable with some games.
GX is faster, upto 1 GHz. But I have no one.

GPU in my Micro is standart Radeon 7000 of course. Sorry, 7500 was my mistake.

Regarding the un-fix AmigaOne XE, here: https://www.os4welt.de/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=685 seems to be the documents.

Unfortunatelly, you have to be logged to see the files.
Please, can any member of os4welt.de send me the files?
I don't want to register there for single file, it is not respectful of os4welt members.

@number6

thank you!
It means, I have latest official firmware on my AmigaOne XE. So I leave it untouched.

On Micro I receive U-Boot 1.2.0 flashed in ROM. I don't know if previous owner did it, it was buyed "for parts".
Anyway, it works allmost fine for me, I had difficulties with SATA controllers here, now I booting via SDcard on IDE with /Kickstart only directory and complete System: is on SATA Sii3512.
But I know Micro have sometimes difficulties with PCI cards, so I don't know if the reason is PCI or U-Boot.
Maybe is better use last official U-Boot, who knows ...

I know that 1.2.0 is experimental. Same as 1.1.4, which is on some machines.

No, they don't need Enhancer.
On Pegasos 2 it works without Enhancer, on X1000 and Sam440ep-flex with.

AmigaOS 4.1fe, updated + latest Odyssey from kas1e (os4depot) works perfectly on my X1000, Pegasos 2 and Sam440ep-flex.
This webpage loaded during second.

As said afxgroup, try clean installation of Odyssey, maybe you have there some old scripts or some misconfiguration.

Re: Dual Video Card causing lock-ups

Not too shy to talk

Primary card speed notes:

Primary card have 16 PCIe lanes when is single,
Primary and secondary cards have both 8 PCIe lanes with dual card setup.

I measured speed of primary card in both cases.
- SDLbench and other gfx tests were little slower with dual card setup
- but every real game have the same speed with single and with dual card setup.

So in real there are no slowdown with using only 8 PCIe lanes in dual setup.

Re: Dual Video Card causing lock-ups

Hi,
I have on my X1000 two cards also:
slot #1 (PCI-e x16/x8): two slot size HD7970 - for AmigaOS (3D capable)
slot #2 (PCI-e x16/x8): single slot size HD6670 - for linux (3D capable)

I have the same issue with RED to BLUE loading bar. And I read about it somewhere before. Strange
I have second card mainly for linux, where everything works OK with xorg.conf settings to second card.

I tested in past also dual monitor in AmigaOS.
- dual monitor setting according to manual (three monitor icons) works for me.
- some programs runs on secondary monitor only if workbench set too to secondary. But it is normal and as expected.
- SDLbench I cannot run from secondary monitor. Even if in preferences I set workbench to secondary card, SDL opens always on primary.
- no problem with opening screens on both of monitors. And run program like OWB on selected monitor.
- in my case with secondary card I have much better SDL results: Hunno 1941 160 FPS on primary vs 325 on secondary! But it is only for curiosity.
- I also mentioned lockups, mainly when blanker was activated or when I play something long time on secondary monitor.

My testing was short, because I have no space for computer with two monitors on my tables, often I have three computers connected do one monitor.

this is my .uaerc for SDL version
It works for me fastest on Sam440ep-flex.
Maybe it can be more optimized.

try it also

Edited: sorry, bad post. This is only monitor file for HD monitors, not UAE

When I tested graphics cards on my Sam440ep-flex, the best results gave me e-uae-sdl 0.8.29, with JIT PPC 1.0.0 (os4depot.net) and with installed Picasso96 driver inside AmigaOS 3.x

Also is important to set properly in .uaerc graphics rendering and JIT parameters. I am not sure what settings I have, but I will check it at home.

Sam hasn't lightspeed UAE, ADOOM have upto 16 FPS depending on graphics card. And my Sam has 733MHz.
Results here:https://www.amigaportal.cz/node/149415
but it needs google translation

Re: SFS Problems
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Hi,

I used SSDs with SFS on my computers very long time.
On AmigaOS and MorphOS, SFS and SFS2, prepared both with MorphOS and AmigaOS tools.
SSDs are SATAIII (most of them Kingston) connected to SATAII (X1000) or SATAI (all others) controllers.
Blocksize I have 512, only on X1000 both 512 and 4096

All working perfect many years, on AmigaOS with S.M.A.R.T, on MorphOS without (due to his sata.device)

Even on X1000 there are no speed or other differences between 512 and 4096 blocks.
All machines was heavily benchmarked.

So, my result is: don't be afraid of SSDs with SFS!
Regardless of theory, practice says it's OK.

controllers:
X1000 builtin southbridge AMD SB600
G5 Quad builtin type? is OK, PCIe SATA SiI3132 not works for me (also under linux)
Pegasos 2 PCI SiI 3114 (tested also with Promise SATA II and all SiI 3xxx)
Micro A1-C PCI SiI 3512
Sam440ep-flex builtin SiI 3114
Pegasos 1 PCI SiI 3512

@kas1e
Many thanks!
It seems to be 66MHz. Super.

P.S.: in case of need Sam460 PCI slot probably can be expanded via PCI-NxPCI riser. CPU has internal PCI artbiter supporting up to four external devices.
But this info is theoretical, from CPU manual. I never tried it, have no Sam460.

@kas1e
It will be great. Ranger is OK. There should be something like Status: 66MHz on your PCI (probably SATA) card info.
It can also be in serial debug, but I am not sure if Sam460 shows it.

But no stress. It is just for information. Thanks.

@kas1e
Please, what frequency Sam460 PCI port is?
On web pages https://www.acube-systems.biz/index.php?page=hardware&pid=5 there is written 33MHz. But in User manual there is 66MHz, same as in AMCC460Ex datasheet.
Please, can you confirm the correct value? Thanks.
