Re: Long boot time OS4 Final

@TMTisFree

1. Go to UBoot Prefs and disable, IDE channels you don?t use
(If enabled or on auto it will take more time to detect devices)

2. Edit sys:kickstart/layout removed drivers you don?t need
(Simply put a ?;? symbol in front of the line)

3. Set all boot delays in UBOOT to 1

4. Edit S:Startup-sequence, add Run >nil: in front of addinterface line.

5. Remove DOS drivers you don?t need from Devs:dosdrivers

6. Check your user-startup

7. Check WBStartup

Re: New ATI drivers?

@Hans

But I expect the standard entry point is the PC BIOS, because that where PCI card is registered after scanning the PCI bus for vendor id?s and product id?s, the video cards IO ports and memory maps are located some where else (but only the PC bios knows where that is if I?m right.)

To understand how Interrupt 0x10 work, you need to know sub interrupt vector routine found in the interrupt vector table works.

@josh

Interrupt 0x10 vector you find in the BIOS interrupt vector table.

0:0 -> 0:3FF = interrupt vector table (256 * 4 bytes per entry)
0:400 -> 0:4FF = BIOS data area

So you probably need tiny PC BIOS image, I?m guessing that all the VESA routines are located whit in the BIOS data area, but maybe I?m wrong.

Re: Best / most stable version of euae for os4?

@peroxidechicken

Well you only have 2 MB of chip ram on emulated Amiga, the .uaerc configuration file can be bit odd,

For chip memory the memory is defined as
512 kb is value 1, 1 Mb is value 2, 1.5 Mb is value 3, 2 MB is value 4.

UAE is hardware emulator, so you?re restricted to what physical definitions of real Amiga.

Note: if just need paint program then download TVPaint from Aminet it works fine under OS4,

PPaint also works under OS4, but it requires some hacking in side the config files to get working correctly.

As long as you did not plug it in to the 66 Mhz PCI slot is should work, try moving the card to an other PCI slot,

Send a e-mail to Hans-Joerg Frieden [Hans-JoergF AT hyperion-entertainment DOT biz]

AT = @
DOT = .

Provide the serial number of your OS4 CD,
and username of your registered user account at hyperion-entertainment.biz.

Hyperion-Entertainment has changed the serial number system, so the only way is to ask Hans-Joerg Frieden to fix it for you.

How can I set up my floppy disk,DVD and DVD-RW to appear on the right place?

There is option in UBOOT menu to swap primary and secondary IDE connectors.

Quote:
The DVD units works but the floppy I'm not sure because I try to boot Linux with some disk some time ago and the floppy didn't work.

Floppy drive most be connected to the end of cable after twist, red edge always facing the power connector side, or pin 1.

In OS4, there is tool to insert and eject disks, because, TonyW did not won?t to destroy any disks read the documents on the OS4 CD.

We don?t know how long we going to wait for new OS4 hardware that?s the problem, it might take any thing from 6 months to 2 years, this is a crazy market, and buy what you can when you can, that?s it.

ExecSG's HAL can be made to work with a virtualizer service

Can you give me 101 in writing virtualized service for amigaos4, it will parity cool if I can boot for example Linux under OS4, (I need to have a look at User Mode Linux).

PC?s are for Windows or Linux.

Amiga1200/Xbox/PS3 is for games, a pc does not replace the real thing, it?s just a substitute for not having new better hardware.

Some did just that and they replaced the Oscillator, the result was that clock frequency on RAM bus increased and computer started crashing all over the place.
