@Jack

There is a global environment variable called "Language" which contains the name of the current default language since V40.

With >=V50 there are "LanguageName" and "Charset" vars, too.

"LanguageName" contains the english name of the current default language and "Charset" the MIME name of the current default charset.

What's the meaning of two selected languages in locale prefs?

You can use it as a fallback setting.

For example my preferred language setting looks like:

german_ISO-8859-15
english

A program that make use of the locale.library will first look if there is a german catalog file, if there is not it will search a english catalog file, if there is not it will use its default strings.

In rare cases the default strings are not english and if my 2. preferred language is not english it will ignore the english catalog and i end up with a program in french.

Re: usb storage question

@abalaban

I have copied the source of the OS4-Printerdriver example to my USB-Stick and the build ends with:
Quote:

compression.o: file not recognized: File format not recognized
make: *** [HP_DeskJet_880C] Error 1

No objectfile has a normal ELF-Header but a LOT 0s followed by junk.

More fun after the first make:
Quote:

2.Leer:HP_DeskJet_CMYK> make clean
rm compression.o data.o density.o dospecial.o init.o locale.o render.o sprintf.o transfer.o

Just deletes the #?.o files but if your next step is:
Quote:

2.Leer:HP_DeskJet_CMYK> make
ppc-amigaos-gcc -c -mcrt=clib2 -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fstrength-reduce -finline-functions -g -fno-builtin -DNDEBUG -mno-sdata -Wall -W -Wundef -Wshadow -Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Waggregate-return -Wwrite-strings -I/SDK/include -o compression.o compression.c
make: *** No rule to make target `data.c', needed by `data.o'. Stop.

... the complete drawer is gone!?

EDIT:
Seems to be a bug in the FAT filesystem, no errors if the Stick uses FFS2.

What does it report when you reinstall the Devs:USB/fd/massstorage.usbfd file from the Final-Update?

How does your T:usb.log look?

Assumed that you use July:
Sounds like you have July-Update or USB-HW problems.
Try to copy the USB-Files from 'Final' over 'July' and see what happens.

BTW: Have you send your usb.log to Detlef?

The MassStorage commodity is created at runtime from the USB-Stack, but only if a MassStorageDevice is attached to USB.

There is nothing in the MOBO-Docs, but:

The AGP Slot in my A1-XE is used for a Radeon and i cant get it to start if i plug the sii0680 in the PCI-66 Slot.
If i remove the sii it is starting again.

- The limits mentioned in the 1.245 notes were wrong, sorry. The actual
partition size limit of SFS 1.x is 128 GB, no matter which blocksize
you are using. Changed the checks to the actual limits. You can
continue to use too large partitions, but you may get "disk full"
errors (instead of a trashed partition) even if there is still free
space on the partition.

SFS2 should work with all programms that use the new 64bit dos.library functions.

I cant recreate this, but sometimes my A1 does show the same error, or boot to a blank wb (only titlebar, rest of screen grey). But it is veeery rare and i cant find a pattern for it.

The thing I really want to do is create my own clipart, and as I am not much of a 'graphic artist' so I thought the idea of a bitmap (in the example PICT files) to eps converter would be useful.

Try autotrace.
