@Phantom
Currently using one 250 GB Western Digital hard drive with 5 partitions.
SWAP partition SYS: partition approx 2.3 GB SFS\00 one 35 GB JXFS partition two 95 GB JXFS partitions
Lexar JumpDrive USB stick = FFS Long Filenames Kingston DataTraveler USB stick = FAT??
Originally, I was using FFS Long Filenames for my system partition.

I hope Joerg continues to develop OWB. Silence is not necessarily a bad thing.

@djrikki
I think it is a mistake to claim that TW will be available soon. We already know that there are many vultures waiting for failures or no shows in our little piece of the NG Amiga market place. I think it is better to wait for the official announcement "when it's done".
Meanwhile we have several choices for OS4 ... AWeb APL Lite 3.5.09 for OS4.0 PPC IBrowse 2.4 OEM-Version NetSurf 2.5 NetSurf 3.0 (Development) OWB 3.30 Timberwolf Alpha 1 release
I have all of the above installed on my system, but I use OWB and NetSurf the most these days. Timberwolf needs some work. That is why it is officially classified as an alpha release.

@portarinos
Back when I first installed Timberwolf, I was using a small FFS2 partition (approx 2 GB). It took about 10 min. A larger partition will take longer. Apparently, if you have a whole bunch of extra fonts it will also take longer.
I have since "updated" my system partition to SFS\00.

Only 3 items:
#1 Boots off CD and hard drive everytime on all supported systems. I don't want a repeat of the MicroA1 AmigaOS 4.1 Update 1 fiasco where we had a horribly unstable system until we disabled some USB ports.
#2 Choice of default disk and drawer icons or maybe icon sets ... For example, if I choose OS4.0 look and feel, I would like to see disk and drawer icons like the ones from OS4.0 July 2007 Update.
#3 Support for other printers, for example EPSON STYLUS CX4800.

@Chris I had one crash while typing up a post on one of the amiga sites. Crashed when I hit the delete key several times to make a correction. So far I can't replicate the crash. Other than that, this version seems to be very fast. I will keep NetSurf 2.5 as a backup, but I have already deleted NetSurf 2.6. Thanks very much, redfox

Thanks Chris. I have installed NetSurf 3.0 (Development) graphics.library static build. Install went well with no problems.
Posting with it now.

@GrumpyOldMan
E-UAE 0.8.29-WIP3 SDL works for me.
I am emulating an A2000HD with 68000 CPU with AmigaOS 3.1. Nothing fancy, just a few old NTSC Classic friendly programs.

@GrumpyOldMan
Beware of UBoot Prefs.
I used it without any problems with AmigaOS 4.0 July 2007 Update.
However, the UBoot Prefs that came with the commercial release of AmigaOS 4.1 CD drove my system wild and I had to default to factory settings. I have not tried UBoot Prefs since, so I don't know if it has been changed.
Most people have not experienced any problems with UBoot Prefs, so it may have been a coicidence.

@GrumpyOldMan
My system: AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 MicroA1 with IBM PPC 750 GX CPU and 256 MB RAM. PS2 keyboard USB Optical mouse connected to PS2 port using a USB/PS2 adaptor hard drive is connected to the 2.5" IDE connector DVD combo drive is connected to the 3.5" IDE connector Front USB ports enabled Rear USB ports disabled (explained below) Not using PCI slot
I usually run with compositing disabled to conserve video RAM. Other than that, I use the OS4.0 theme with square corners, but my AmiDock has a transparent backgroud with no boarders. I run Final Writer 97 with JIT (petunia) disabled. So far I have not disabled petunia fully, so I run with JIT enabled for most of my other 68K programs.
USB ports ...
Like some other MicroA1 users, I had no USB port issues with AmigaOS 4.0 July 2007 Update or the commercial AmigaOS 4.1 CD. However, I had a very difficult time installing AmigaOS 4.1 Update 1 from CD. My system was very unstable until I disabled the rear USB ports. I have not re-enabled those ports since. My front USB ports are easier to access and I want to be able to recover my system using my AmigaOS 4.1 Update 1 CD if I replace my hard drive.
Hard Drives ...
When I first purchased my MicroA1, I had my hard drive and DVD combo drive hooked up as master and slave on the 3.5" IDE connector on the MicroA1 motherboard. Then I got an adaptor and hooked up my DVD combo drive to the 2.5" IDE connector. This is how I used my system for several years.
I ran my old Maxtor 40 GB hard drive on dma 69 (UDMA 5, 100 MB/s) for the last three versions of AmigaOS 4.0. It died of old age just before I installed AmigaOS 4.1 (it lived for many years in a x86 pc before my MicroA1).
I replaced my old Maxtor hard drive with a Western Digital hard drive.
My Western Digital 250 GB hard drive has been a bit flakey right from the start and seems to be slow to spin up on power up. It has got worse with time. It is about 3 years old. I was using dma 69 (UDMA 5, 100 MB/s) for a few months, but it has spent most of its life running with best PIO. Now I am using auto-discovery to detect the drives, to give a bit more time for the WD hard drive to spin up on power up. Once the system boots up fully, it seems to run just fine.
I am convinced that this is a hard drive issue and not a OS4 issue or MicroA1 issue. I just haven't purchased another hard drive. I think I will go with a 40 GB drive or an 80 GB drive if I can find one.

I am running AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 with very rare freezes. PS2 keyboard USB/PS2 compatible Logitech Optical mouse with PS2 adaptor Rear USB interfaces disabled Kingston USB DataTraveler USB stick Lexar JumpDrive USB stick formatted for FFS Long filenames (DOS\07) Compositing disabled OS4.0 look with square corners on all windows Petunia JIT disabled for Final Writer 97
After intermittant issues with a flakey hard drive ... Onboard IDE interfaces on auto-discovery mode (and best PIO by default)
Ctrl alt alt is my friend.
I haven't tried disabling petunia.library entirely yet. That sounds quite interesting ...

Just guessing here ... possibly by adding it to the Kicklayout file.
I have not tried it. I don't want to break a working system.

@Severin Quote: Also remember that jxfs is not intended for small partitions (<1gb) or large partitions (>128gb) That might explain why I have had intermittant issues with my 250 GB WD hard drive since I added a 190 GB JXFS parition about a year ago. As far as I can remember my 35 GB JXFS partition has never given me any problems. --- redfox MicroA1 + OS4.1 Update 2

@All
In support of Joerg, I want to say that I have used OWB since it first came out, through most of the upgrades to OWB 3.29. Of course there have been some issues along the way, but all in all, I support his efforts. I am currently using OWB 3.29.
As for any further upgrades or improvements to OWB, I am not a programmer or a developer so I cannot help there. As a user, I can speak with feedback and donations.
I have used IBrowse, AWeb APL Lite, OWB, NetSurf and Timberwolf Alpha 1 release. In my humble opinion, Timberwolf needs alot more work before it will replace any of the others. Currently, I use OWB 3.29 and NetSurf 2.5 as my main web browsers.

I already knew about the 512 byte block size. I have now bumped up buffers from 600 to 1000.
