Re: OS4.1 filesystems?
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@All

It seems all the ide drivers in os4.1 have a problem with speed. They're on the slow side compared to the os4.0 drivers. The os4.0 drivers are not compatible with os4.1, so there is a danger of corupting your data if you do. The problem has been reported & verified, so we just have to wait for an update.

@Snuffy

No docs for the jxfs filesystem, but the important things are, you can't boot from it until we get a new slb & it only works with a blocksize of 512. Set to anything else & the partition won't show on the WB for formatting.

My work partition is jxfs & no problems so far. Picked up an sii0680ide card at Amiwest, so transfer speed is faster.

Re: AmiDVD problem...

@Swoop

What I was trying to say is AmiDVD will only show drawers, but not the contents of a drawer in the file requester. I can delete the files that I don't want, but not drag/shift select any files that I do want to burn. If I have a drawer with 20gb of avi files, I can only add the whole directory & 20gb just won't fit on one dvd, so I have to delete all that won't fit. Be much easier if I could see the contents & drag select the files that will fit.

@joerg

AmiDVD works for me, but I have a problem with it. I have a TV series of avi files that I'm burning to DVDs, 65 files in one directory. If I open the directory, no files show to pick, I need to accept the whold directory to add the files to burn. This gives me a size count that won't fit on 1 DVD, so I need to delete all that won't fit, a real pain. They do burn & play ok after, but it would be nice to see the files in a directory & to pick & choose which ones to burn.

One thing, some apps look in the icon info for a CD unit number, that one always gets me.

@Rigo

Looking at the update description:

remote file 28-Sep-08
local file 27-Sep-08

One day off, I un-archived AISS & its dated 09-27-08.

Edit: I used SetDate in a shell to change the AISS creation date to 09-28-08, so AmiUpdate no longer lists a new AISS version now.

I have AISS v4.4 installed, but AmiUpdater keeps telling me there's a new version "determined by date".

I got my password & joined the 200: Distributed Amiga team, at least thats what it says if I enter my e-mail address & edit my profile. Not sure where the the first flushed packets went.

Benchmark is between 8.9-9.0 Mn/s, after each packet, it says 8.5-8.6 Mn/s.

Thanks, how long does it take a G3 to upload some packets?
Does it upload as it runs or does it save the packets in a file until its ready to send?

Doesn't really matter as there's no way to join. The Amiga.org dnetc site gives a link to join, but it doesn't work. I enter my email address, but it just says I don't exist, which is true.

@LyleHaze

sundown waits for Lyle to post again that uboot can't find a drive with SLB.

In uboot shell just in case;

ide reset
setenv boot1 ide
boota

If only it was that easy..

@RacerX

I don't have 4.1 yet, but the beta testers have told me its the same version used with OS4.0. If a new version comes out, you will need to uninstall the current SLB & then install the new version (Edit RDB/Reinstall).

Re: Sam 440 Flex board?

@all

I'd like new h/w to back up my micro. The SAM doesn't appear to be much better then what I have, but it does have USB 2 & more gfx memory to run 4.1. Now consider this, it does have a working (I hope) PCI connector. You could put a riser card in there with & a 9250 gfx card & have some expansion, something we don't have with the micro. There are questions that need to be answered & the right answers could make the SAM look a whole lot better.

Most likely you didn't get the rom pushed in all the way, that can take some force as well, just watch out for bent pins.

Re: U-boot has trouble finding my harddrive
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

@salass00

I have 2 HDs in my micro, an 80G & a 400G. I switched them around so it would boot off the 400G drive, same result, no slb found. It seems that the settings in the uboot menu don't alway "stick". Think the main uboot variables are boot1=cdrom, boot2=ide, boot3=ide, set a1ide_conf for your drive setup & ide_maxbus=2 if you're using both ide ports. Uboot prefs should work as well.

One other thing I've noticed, in the RDB settings, the 400G has Last LUN ticked, the 80G has Last ID & Last LUN ticked. The slb is installed on both drives.

Ok, this is what i have done. Under OS4.0 i have runned
ShowNetStatus and from there i could see the ip-address:
192.168.2.107 and mask: 255.255.255.0. Still under OS4.0
i have filled in these numbers under static and disabled dhcp.
Then i tried to make a connection but it failed for some reason.
I also tried other ip's like, 192.168.2.100, 192.168.2.1, etc.

192.168.2.1 doesn't look like the IP of your router. Try this in a shell, type ping 192.168.2.1, if nothing happens, hit Ctrl-c & try ping 192.168.1.1. I'm guessing the last IP will fill your screen, if so, use that IP in your setup. I use 192.168.1.100 for my static IP of my A1.

In Prefs/Internet

Interfaces:
.name=Amiga
.driver=DEVS:Networks/eth3com.device
.type=Ethernet
.unit=0
.static IP on
.static IP=192.168.1.100
.mask=255.255.255.0
.DHCP off
.IP packet=default

Routes:
.gateway=192.168.1.1
Routes/New:
.type=Auto

Hosts:
.host=192.168.1.100

Name Resolution:
.name resolution=192.168.1.1

Roadshow is just a name for the A1 net interface, not a file or directory.
