@monomango

I am not know how SE, but on XE is much better leave it DMA-unfixed.
This article is about my testing XE + PCIe graphics cards. It is in Czech language, so please try google.

If you want, make USB-fix, it has no issues. But DMA-fix have other issues, so with DMA-fix is nearly unpossible connect PCIe card.

I suppose SE is very similar, so you really not need DMA on IDE controller.
I have CF card on IDE controller, PIO mode and here is only /Kickstart directory for booting.
Then I have PCI SATA card with all necessary volumes like System: and Work:, all fast in UDMA mode.
This system have another advantage - you can use not only SiI312, but also 3114 and 3512 which cannot boot directly with UBoot 1.1.1., because all kernel modules with drivers are loaded.

If you find it interesting, there all three articles about my testing XE:
AmigaOne XE - first steps
AmigaOne PCIe graphics cards
AmigaOne XE PCI HW interrupts
third article also have info how properly repair UBoot PCI settings for cards behind the PCI bridge. It is also the case with PCIe graphics cards. And also there short UBoot comparison.

Maybe the same is the case with smb2?

We need definitelly IP adress, but there is more options.

Modern wifi routers ( I have Turris Omnia ) can be easily by one click configured like local DNS server.

Moreover, you cannot configure anything, only set own hostname and DHCP network setup on all local computers.
All works automatically, you must setup the router DNS only if you want more detailed setting, like exact IP address for my Amiga X1000 192.168.1.111 , limit the pool of adresses, deny of certain MACs, etc...

It is much more easier than setup and maintain classic DNS server like bind. And easier than maintain /../hosts on every computer.
With this we can access all computers via hostname, all names are translated via DNS request and it works the same way with libsmb2.

@billt

X1000's CPU have two memory controllers.
If you have two identical sticks, place them symmetrically:

empty - RAM - CPU - RAM - empty
this allows interleaving of controllers, i.e. it is faster.

RAM - empty - CPU - empty - RAM
this probably have the same effect

if you have different modules, place them this way:

empty - empty - CPU - RAM1 - RAM2
it should work, but with no interleaving, using only one memory controller.

Re: A1-XE halts during boot after loading kickstart files

It is not easy issue. It can be HW. I agree with Hypex, that we rounding in circles.

I strongly recomend connect your AmigaOne with serial cable to another computer with terminal program. And set in U-Boot menu:
os4_cmdline "debuglevel=7 serial"

You see more informations in debuglog.

Or if you not have this possibility, like last test you could try:

- remove all not needed hw and leave only graphics card and CD/DVD driver in primary IDE / Master
- set U-boot to defaults
- set in U-Boot menu:
set first boot source IDE CD
disable both serial ports, parallel port, both USBs - if you are debugging, leave first serial enabled
- set in U-Boot cmdline:
setenv a1ide_conf 2000
setenv a1ide_xfer 0000
saveenv
also in U-Booot make post tests:
post memtest
post idetest

try boot with this. If it not works, try CD in secondary IDE / Master
and set a1ide_conf to 0020

if it still not work, you have bad CD media / bad CD-DVD device / bad cabling / bad IDE controller / or whatever which need diagnostics, i.e. at least serial debug...

@vagappc
thanks for advice.
I deleted all NetFS and Roadshow config in ENVARC: incl. Appdir.
After reboot I recreated shares via NetFSprefs.

Unfortunately no change - second Sam440 shared volumes cannot be opened from workbench, but from shell and filler can.

But at least I found, that I have on Sam440ep-flex share volume which not exists.

So, I will wait till January and will test both Sams440 with Sam460LE - we will see, how bigger brother succseed.

NetFS: Sam440ep & Sam440ep-flex don
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

Sorry, the topic is shorted, the correct is:
NetFS: Sam440ep & Sam440ep-flex don't like each other.

Hi,
I need some advice in this curious thing:
I am using NetFS (now v3.1) for a long time on all my MorphOS and AmigaOS computers.
It is fast and easy to use, for me is the best AmigaNG file sharing. Only one disadvantage - AmigaOS4 have no native version, so using m68k version.
All works fine for me for years, until now. I am added my freshly installed "new" Sam440ep (mini-ITX).

And if I want to share drives between Sam440ep and Sam440ep-flex, I can mount them on both machines, but...
... but from workbench I can open only shared RAM:. No other shared volumes - every time there is empty window and after several seconds error "No disk present in..."
From shell console or from Filer I can access all shared disks with no problem. Workbench Explorer crashed if opening shared disk.

What is it?
On both Sams I can freely mount and use all shared disks from other computers - for example from X1000.
On X1000 I can freely mount and use all shared disks both from Sam440ep and Sam440ep-flex. With the same mountlists.
On all computers I am using identical mountlists for shares.
I also did fresh identical installation of NetFS on both Sams and X1000. No change. And if I disabled network timeout, all is the same, only time is longer.

On Sam440ep is AOS4.1feu2, on Sam440ep-flex and X1000 AOS4.1feu2+Enhancer 2.2, all filesystems are SFS2 ( but different versions, last two have newer version from Enhancer ).

It looks simply like the Sams don't like each other
Please, do you have any idea?

And one a little offtopic question - which CPU version of m68k executable is best to use with AmigaOS4? 68000/020/030/040/060, or it does not matter?
It matters with NetFS only with crypto library, but in my case I am not using crypted traffic.

something what can be great in our E-UAE - bsdsocket.library support
I know, it is probably not easy....

and also a little offtopic:

speaking about E-UAE, I found strange thing:

- on MorphOS and AmigaOS4 verions of E-UAE not works game Aquabyss
- on WinUAE works

The guru generated in AmigaOS3 inside emulation is mostly 81000005, sometimes 81000009 depended on Memory configuration
The game is written i AMOS and is very big from AMOS point of view. Memory/PPC/BigEndian issue?

No. I don't need to debug it and fix it, but it is a pitty, it is only Amiga game which I must play on Windows

Here is my simple device. On drawing are only three inputs and one output.
In real I have six jack + one cinch inputs and jack + cinch output ( have to select one output only)

Now I can made 10-12 input device, with the same parameters.

Of course, it is not high quality professional, but cheap, simple and working.

It looks perfect. But for me too few inputs - only four.
On my new place I need now 8 inputs, so it will be wise made 10-12 input device.

But of course, device from your link is far better, my have no mixing volume - it simply add all signals together.

And poor sound have both my KVM switches. Maybe other are better

I have KVM switches with stereo sound, but poor quality.

I use home made box, similar to kas1e's scheme for 6 computers. Quality is much better than from KVM switches.
And now I have to build another one for 8-10 computers.
I will look if I find my old scheme and post it here.

For now AmiGFX version is almost mandatory on Sam machines, SDL version runs but a bit jerky expecially in some bigger games or when running AmigaOS 3.1 even with JIT enabled. maybe it will faster with SDL2

Copy that. And if you have Sam440ep-flex with PCIe HD card, it is even bigger need ( SDL is relatively slow there ).

And I don't know how complex is it, but very nice bonus is also have some native acceleration ( except SDL ) with amiGfx. ( like MorphOS have functional parameters "amiga.use_overlay=yes" and "sdl.use_gl=yes"

Changed envs but still no joy. :(

After loading the Kickstart the machine just stops. No reaction for any inputs.

Yes, it should be installed automatically. And if you boot to system, you can check it in HDtoolbox. But this message not say "HDD have no SLB", but "no SLB found" and it occurs also with improper config of a1ide.

It is strange. So you should use serial debug with other computer.

Or last thing try with u-boot menu reset to factory defaults, and then again set a1ide_conf.
Diasconnect all unnecessary devices, incl. HDD, disable all HW you not need - USB, paralel, second serial,...
And try to boot at first AmigaOS CD only.

@Reynolds
on first video it loads all modules from CD, and not boot from disk. It looks like AmigaOS not see the booting device.
Try this: before all modules loads and kickstart start to load, press both mouse buttons and hold, until you see early startup menu. Here you see all devices visible to AmigaOS before OS boots. Also you can check the priorities, etc.

The second video - no SLB found teel us improper a1ide_conf ( most probably ), or problem with cables, master/slave jumpers, IDE-SATA adapters, wrong filesystem, etc...

And I see on both videos, that you have this config:
primary master: DVD, slave none
secondary master: HDD, slave none

so a1ide_conf should be 2010, not 1200

i.e. type in u-boot commandline:

setenv a1ide_conf 2010
saveenv
