Re: Make AmiUpdate part of OS4?
Not too shy to talk

@Swoop

Thats why I think there should be an API where the 3th party program can call AmiUpdate and say MY progam xxx is located at path yyy.. then AmiUpdate should have a DataBase with all the paths for all programs that support AmiUpdate, then it can fast and easy do version checks.

If this API gets done, it should then be incorperated into the OS IMO, maybe with a Remove program function to.

I'm not bad mouthing Rigo, for I think he has done a great job... but its really only usefull for OS components that have a fixed place on sys:, so see this an Enhancement sugestion for Version 2 :)

AmiUpdate should be expanded to an external Library so that 3th party program can check for updates.

For example if Yam chould call the lib then check for updates. That whould be better than it whould expire after a month, at the same time you whould be free from downloading and unpacking youre self.

Who actualy owns this great old program now?

I did a little googling and found that Digital Creations merged into Play Inc. together with another company.

But I chould not find anything about Play Inc.

It whould have been great if the owners sold or donated the source to the users.

Is there anyone who can fill in the blanks? :)

@graff

Just a fast OT question if you see it :)

I read in the PTP docs that when a error condition rises it will STALL the endpoints.. but I'm not sure if it only means the Bulk endpoint or it include the Interrups Endpoints as well, so is there a way to se if an endpoint is stalled?

If not can I Destall and endpoint that is not stalled and get away with it?

@MigthyMax

After an update of my UBoot, my usb hub (unpowered) has stopped working if I have any devices connected on Cold Startup, when the usb stack then is loaded I can connect my devices and Fast reboot works fine after that.

I havent tested the old december version to se if that works with the new UBoot.

Well my XE has been a good development mashine even with its hw faults, but I whould like to upgrade it to a bigger mashine... and if I chould get hold of one of Adams 1.8GHz mashines that chould be great.

But I'm also looking for a small Amiga computer for when I travels and there whould the SAM440 be good.

If Adam was to release a addon for my A1200 I might be tempted enough :)

But for now I'm waiting for new hw and as long as my XE runs I'm in no hurry

@Antique

When the network stack run in dhcp mode, it starts by exchanges infomation.

As it has to get hold of an ip to use it ask the rounter for an IP to use, the router then gives one if there is one free but its not for keepings it has to give it back in x secounds, it depends on how the router is set up. Some need to return the ip after a hour other after a day, but that is all up to the router.

So when the time expire it have to ask again for a new ip normaly its the same you get in return but you can not be sure of that.
