@Amigamancer
Well hyperion has hardware made already (thats my 2 cent atleast) but if they dare to release it is a totally different matter. Amiga inc is just making excuses for itself, i mean hello!? if the whole ack deal is now hung up to dry because they dont have the source code for the os, says to me that they dont dare to bet that their right about this whole case. I mean, its quite friggin obvious to anyone that's ever used a computer that if you have the source, you can port the damned thing to any hardware you damned well please.

Regardless, if Hyperion lose, then This site will close eventually, with Amiga inc getting their hands on AOS4, we are all dead in the water.
Am I wrong? Feedback welcome.
Your right about that, we've had a drop of aprox. 300 daily readers (amigaweb) but then again, our site was down due to domain issues, and we've become a lazy and loosing interest.. The loss of interest can easily be blamed on Amiga inc... 1) The Court Case 2) The Lies 3) The Miss Management 4) The Apparent Scam ( ACK, OS5(?) 5) A inc not doing anything for the community except harm it. ( Eg. Not giving the proper companies the proper licenses, not even knowing its "own" community and the people who reside in it. ) 6) Ainc making us the laughing stock of the entire IT biz, ( Amiga said at ces to theregister that AA2 is an OS and _IS OS5_ the faq saying its not an os... and doesnt evne resemble it) But then again there are things happening, take the Minimig, the natami, and take it as a clear sign that if the company cant do it, the users will. But i hear yah, sometimes i just want to pack my bag and jump on my bike and paddle off the cliff in my canoe. This and Amiga.org is still my favorite forum site tho.

@Crumb
It sounds very much like whats wrong with mine, but mine is probably worse off, since it cant see the mem. And reboots if i warp, and any info app says theres no ppc... ( i assume it needs memory like other computers. )
Yes i flashed it to the latest.
But i should add that the person i got it from sold it because it was defect. he had tried overclocking it (stupidly by adding faster crystals) and it had wires, the kind you might use to tie around the plastic on your bread or loaf with ( atleast here in norway) soldiered to the oscillator connections... ( needless to say i got it pretty cheap ) The guy had also _GLUED_ a heatsink to an 060, which was to big to fit on the board *giggles*
And yes, i did consider calling the amiga abuse center

Heh, an 060 card is great, hell yeah, but theres always the chance that it might fail even more and take the entire a4k with it. But im still praying for miracles.

I can almost call mine beyond hope now i think, The 060 works tho, but with 18 megs of ram i might aswell go smoke a hobbit :(
But no you wont get to do that with it! As far as im concerned, if it fires up, and doesnt fry anything in the process. theres hope.

That would be great right about now, though jjb probably knows it, its still safely in his possession... Im pretty much doomed without that memory, and subsequently ppc :\

@Spirantho
I sent it to france, it seems to have some other issues too, like not liking 50 mhz crystals all of the sudden :S
The 50 mhz crystal worked great for a while, until it suddenly went black, so for the 400ththousand time i had ti rip everything our of the amiga and discovered that it worked great with a 66 mhz crystal... But still no mem...
It should just work tho,the memory that is... I also feel that its a bit risky using it while there might be a hardware fault.

@Rogue
Thanks, I'm really looking forward to getting my cppc and a4k back from repairs now, apparently It's in the final phase.
Btw, will there be a downloadable version of the OS? The import tax in Norway is sky high, 25% + the customs handling. Which in turn equals a rather pricey box and printed cd. Around 116 - 120 euro in total.

Thats a great approach to emulation tho, it might actually be faster then.

By the way, since the "emulator" and ppc os4 would now be separate from each other, i dont think you'd have that problem anymore

Ah ok, thanks for pointing that out for me.
I dont know if im thinking correctly, but couldnt the ppc/os be nursed into sleep mode, and then the JIT could make use the 68k, so that it would be a sort of emulated 68k?

My question is, why on earth why? It's right there, next to the ppc.
Emulating a 060 on even a 233 mhz ppc cant be done as far as i know. So what's keeping'em from using the 68k?
Cheers

You could try and get a 604ev cpu, they go up to 350 or 400 mhz
I tried asking the other day but Amiga france wouldnt fit one to mine.
