@Hans, Chris H and Raziel:

Thanx a lot for your suggestions - I will try them all when I'm back at home from work

But I don't belive that ATI 9200 is dead for 3D - I bought it brand new.

Will see - I can test the card under Linux or Windows.

Later...

@virgola

Oh that sounds bad for me
The main reason to buy the ATI 9200 PCI card was because my solderd GFX has given up it's ghost.
I can only see a lot of flickering either from DVI oer VGA output. So I cannot fallback to that solution.

In 2D the 9200 runs perfectly in 32 Bit Mode.
Loooks like I can not use any miniGL App

What should be the next steps?
Report the prob to Hyperion or Hans who is working on miniGL?

AND YES - Amiga OS 4.1 U1 is great !!!! (tu)

Thanx in advance!

Problems with MiniGL and Radeon 9200 SE on SAM440
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hello dear Amiga users,

With the help from some guys in the forum I have now AmigaOS4.1 U1 smoothly running Feels great !!!

There's only one thing left to fix:
All games or demos that have to use miniGL completely freeze the system - there's no GrimReaper.

With the pevious AmigaOS 4.1 and miniGL 2.1 there were no problems.
With U1 comes miniGL 2.2.
I recently installed a ATI 9200 (128MB RAM) into thePCI Slot - I have a SAM400 and UBOOT 1.3.1a.
The card works perfectly in 2D mode but when I want to use miniGL 2.2 the error as discribed above occurs.

What do you think: could the ATI 9200 card cause the problem or is it just miniGL 2.2 related?

I 'm really looking foreward to try Blender on my Amiga

Oh one point I forgot:
If I try to change the Screen blanker settings in WB Prefs the systems freezes also. the first entry in the blanker list is Amiga Boing Ball.
I suppose this is a GL blanker (??)

Thanx al lot for your time!

Andi

Re: Problem with AmigaOS4.1U1 after installation (maybe) in context with UBoot1.3.1a

@TSK

I could solve the issue

The first thing that UBOOT always jumps into the preferences menu could be solved by setting the environment variable bootcmd to 'boota'
By default there was 'menu' set.

The second was that I had to format the partition from the launched WB
Formatting by using the mediatoollbox from the installer didn't work.

So I formatted the parttion DH0 (which was shown as unformatted on the WB) and then I called the installer again.

Now everything is fine

Thanx a lot !

Problem with AmigaOS4.1U1 after installation (maybe) in context with UBoot1.3.1a [SOLVED]
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hello Amiga Fans,

I have a problem after installation of AmigaOS 4.1 U1:
I have a SAM440 Mobo.

The first thing I did was to update UBoot to version 1.3.1a - no problems with that.
For the first time (just for testing) I installed AmigaOS4.1 U1 right over the old AmigaOS 4.1 installation on the same partition (DH0) - without changing anything to the partition.

Everything worked fine and I was able to boot the new OS4.1 U1 installation.
But I wantred to install it again on a fresh and clean partition so that theres nothing left over from the previous installation.

I used HD ToolBox right after Booting the AmigaOS 4.1 U1 cd.
I reinstalled RDB and SLB for AmigaOS.

I removed the DH0 partition an created a new one with SFS/00 filesystem.
I set the blocksize to 512 (according to the manual) seleceted the 'Bootable' flag
in addition anf formated the new parttion (completely - no quick format option)

Then I installed the OS . No problems so far

But if I try now to boot the OS the following happens every time I try:

First Uboot always jumps into the Preferences menu - even I saved the configuration with the boot order of the devices (first SII-4-4 SATA HD - second SII-4 SATADVD)
That happened also with the first Installation over the old AmigaOS4.1 installation. I always had to press ESCAPE until I saw the menue "Save settings and exit"

Why does UBoot 1.3.1a not remember these settings?
The SAM440 always jumps into the prefernces menu after booting.
As I m Flex Board)
A I mentioned above that happens since updating to UBoot 1.3.1a (and I chose the right version for SAM440 - not for the FLEX board)

But at least the OS booted.
Now since I recreated the DH0 partion it seems that UBoot does not write the configuration to the disk and so the second stage bootloader complains that no configuration file is found on any supported device or partition.

And in Uboot 1.3.1a there are only three entries in the menu. In the previous version there was a point to select a configuration.

Is this obsolete in 1.3.1a?
And how can I create a config file? I always say: Save configuration and exit.
No success

Can anynone of you give me a hand on this prob?

Thanx in advance for your time!!!!

Greets
Andi

Please - I need help with ATI 9200 PCI Card on SAM440 [SOLVED]
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hello dear Amiga users,

I ran into trouble and I hope someone can give me a hand with this problem:

I have a SAM440 Amiga from Acube Sytems.
Since Christmas I am facing problems with the GFX output from my SAM.
It is definitely a hardware problem - it started with occasional flickers and its getting worse. When I saw this the first time I touched the monitor cable right at the DVI port of the sam and the problem was fixed. But only for a few hours.
So I bought a new DVI cable but that didn't solve it.
In order to make sure that it maybe comes only from the DVI port I connectet a VGA port cable on the SAM mobo and connected the mon with VGA cable.
Unfortuntely the same. I can't really read any longer anything at all now - DVI or VGA!

Okay I bought a 3,3V ATI 9200 PCI GFX card with 128 MB Ram.
I installed it and I copied the dual graphic cadrs setup files from Acube to their appropriate folders (had to do it in a shell - filer is unusable because of the heavy gfx glitches)

I rebootet the Amiga but no Picture at all
I am looking foreward to install the new OS4.1 U1 - but first I need a picture on the screen again

Now my question: has anybody of you installed a PCI GFX card in the PCI slot of the SAM440? What else is necessary to get it to work - Do I have to run U-BOOT prefs first? Can I install the OS4.1 U1 CD at all with the the second gfx card (the internal is now quite unusable)?

Any help would really be appriciated!

Thanx a lot for your time guys.

I hope that the X1000 appears soon on the market !!!

Keep on going with the Amiga spirit!!!

Cheers
Andi

@Mikey_C

Thanx a lot !!!

i cant't explain my feelings to be back with a new Amiga system!!!!

I came to Amiga in 1987 with a A500 - the best machine you could buy these days.
THAT WAS FUN AND SUPER COOL

Later on I bought an A4000EC30 - wow it was heaven to me.
As Commodore got bankrupt and Winows stepped more an more on the market I really felt sad about that "evolution"

Someday my A4000 died - SAD DAY for me!!!

As there were no new hardware available for my beloved AMIGA during the dark years I started to use Linux which gave me a little hope for the PC.

Of course used UAE Linux to run AmigaOS.

Now in the present I am really happy and feel completely "All right"
Or with the words of the top group Cream: " I'm so glad I'm glad - I'm glad
- I'm glad"

AMIGA RULEZ !!!!!

It's good to be back with all you Amigans !!!!!!!

Best regards
Andi Friede from Germany

Systems:
A500 with 1 MB RAM Kick1.3 and second floppy drive
AmigaOS 3.9 on PC under UAE (Linux)
SAM440@667 MhZ - 512 MB RAM - AmigaOS 4.1 - DVDRW - 250 GB HD

@Troels

Hi,

thanx for your quick answer!

I mean a Handbook like it was provided on the Amiga 500, 4000

So a basic introduction to the OS and a chapter of available DOS commands, devices etc.

That would be great!

Hello Amigans !!!!

I hope it's the right place for this post.

A little question:

Is Amiga OS4.1 shipping with a printed Manual?
Not only installation on SAM440 but about th OS itself.

Or is there maybe a pdf on the CD?

Thanx a lot for your time.

May Amiga live forever !!!!
