I agree, SCSI is a dead end. Get the elbox ata device, plug in and enjoy.

Note, scsi was good for its time, but like all things we have to move on.

This doesnt make any sense. SCSI is a dead end, IDE is a dead end, so what?
I find it very funny that someone talks about SCSI as a dead-end in the context of a computer from 1992!
To spell it out clearly: It simply doesnt matter!

So the peoples cant use their existing and fast integrated SCSI, but have to buy a slower IDE device from Poland which is a lot of hassle to install?
The Fast ATA is a CPU hog, I had stuttering videos with it.
The SCSI let's me run everything very smooth, it only takes very little CPU time.

@Grumpy,Chaos,TMTisfree

I agree with you. It is a serious flaw that OS4 doesnt work with SCSI of the BlizzardPPC.

It would be enough if the OS4 devs would only acknowledge this. No OS is perfect. It's ok if some things will be done later.
It only seems odd when they praise IDE instead of SCSI.

No SCSI, no OS4 for me.

You should look up the definition of "internet troll". Yours is wrong. A troll is not someone you disagree with.

@actungbaby44

I don't understand why there are still peoples who discuss PS3 for OS4. Let me be crystally clear here:

-there is 99% chance that OS4 will be released for Cyber and Blizzard
-there is 33% chance that OS4 will be released for SAM
-there is 3% chance it will be released for Macs Mini
-there is 0.03% it will be released for PS3

The whole hype about Cell has stopped anyways.

Yes, the wheels have fallen off. But not only regarding the court case.
Everything has sunk to a new low. Everytime I think that it can't get worse, it still does.

Maybe it's time to forget about it once for all. It's to depressing and I can't take it anymore.

The dream-mode has become the default mode of operation for the remaining Amiga users. Maybe that's why they are still there.

Hyperion properly do not tri repairing it them self, but most have sent it to some one how does for example DCE, DCE does not have the best service record when it comes to reaping things on time.

That doesn't matter at all. When Hyperion accepted the board for repairs, they are responsible for it, even if they subcontract the work.
If they can't send the board back to the owner, they should pay him a refund.

It seems they are equally unreliable keeping hardware promises like they are unable to keep software promises. OS4 for Classics still is not released. But at least someone bothered to bring an empty box to Empoli.

You don't really believe that this is the real Redhouse, do you? These are the messages of a troll, not of Alan Redhouse! Someone registered with his name, this is very obvious.

@all

Please have a look at the following links and make your own judgement if this is the real Redhouse or just a troll:

Troll, not Redhouse 1

Quote:
Sadly that is their usually attitude. To be a true Amigan you must buy crap overpriced hardware (without a warranty) and you must support companies who`s main interests are to rip people off.

Troll, not Redhouse 2

Face it OS4 is dead thanks to the wonderful people at Hyperion and Amiga Inc.

Troll, not Redhouse 3

I have made up my mind from these links and all I can say is that this is NOT Redhouse speaking, but only a troll. I think many will agree with me.

@Alkaron

Well god knows what this advisory board really is. This is the first time I hear of it. In some other message, I think that McEwen said he was not really CEO anymore!?
Then they have this new PR-agency. So what happened to Vince Pfeiffer? Did she resign or is she still working at Amiga?

@Rogue

Thanks for your reply. Let's hope that someone will work around the caveats and get it to work. Maybe in the future, when OS4 is more available, especially on the Classic platforms, someone from the WHDLOAD-team will work on it and get it to run on OS4.

I prefer the old games instead of the new SDL-games and it would be very cool if I could run them directly from the OS4 desktop. Fingers crossed.

@ssolie

LOL! The problem with the internet is that it helps me at work, e.g. when I have to look things up or download some data, but at the same time it is the biggest time waster.

It sounds stupid, but sometimes I wish some websites were down while I am at work and up again when I get home. I have never used IRC very much, but my experiences using messaging programs are the same. I am using Skype and it is also a big time waster, especially when other peoples see that you are online and send messages to you. Then you need to reply. So I always set my status to "unavailable" now, It helps a little.

Whdload for OS4 on P5-cards?
Not too shy to talk
Not too shy to talk

I have a question about playing old games on OS4 for Phase5-cards.

I think there is no doubt that EUAE is too slow for it. But what about WHDLOAD?
In theory, WHDLOAD should be able to access the Amiga custom chipset (AGA) and the 680x0 CPU.
But will it work? It would be great if I could start old Amiga-games directly from OS4 without rebooting to Workbench 3.9!

I have read on Morphzone that some Polish dude managed to run some 68060 AGA demos from Morphos and they ran perfect and fast.

Can somebody, maybe a betatester, tell me if this is also possible in OS4? Maybe WHDLOAD can be adapted for OS4?

4) Tired of web forums and the large amount of time they waste

You are telling me! Just think how much more productive our economy would be if all those little deflections wouldn't exist! Nowadays it is very difficult to keep concentrated on something for a longer time, either

-the mobile rings

-an email arrives (of course you need to read it immediately, it could be something urgent!)

-a text message arrives (of course you need to read it immediately, it could be something urgent!)

-somebody pops into your office and invites you for a coffee

-your girlfriend phones you at work, telling you that she just bought this expensive pair of shoes with your creditcard

-you need to check the news-site, because something could have happened during the last 7 minutes that you didnt check it

-you need to check Amigans.net, because a new post could have appeared

I once had an interview with a great scientist who published many papers in some great journals. He told me that when he is preparing a paper, he buys lots of coffee, completely locks his office (him being inside!), turns off his phone and disconnects the internet. Maybe this is the only way of doing it. But I think it is only possible in scientific jobs.

No, but I am also not planning to buy one.
My enthusiasm has vanished, too much waiting and too much lawyers. Maybe I will consider some new hardware in the future or buy OS4 for my Phase5-card, I don't know.

I think the Classic things like Minimig and CloneA are very fascinating. I will buy one for sure!

For OS4 I will wait until the court case ends. I want to spend a lot of money for a used A1 and then, Amiga Inc wins and kills OS4 or stops development because the developers dont give them the sources.
