I've noticed there are a number of bugs on the bug tracker that could do with checking. So if you have any outstanding ones, and have some time, please recheck with 2.52.
That reminds me: Is there any way to search in the bug tracker for entries by a specific person (e.g. myself )?

@davec555

Yep, Tony's script should do the trick - mostly.

It's from 2015, so a couple of items seem to be missing: libfontconfig.so and libharfbuzz.so - the latter being mentioned in the thread on Hyperion's forum.

@redfox

Of course making a new installation should also fix it, but if you wanted to avoid that ...

Comparing SObjs directory on my hard drive to SObjs directory on my CD, I found that something had changed some files in July 2023 from tools to Links.
But they are supposed to be links!

E.g. the two first ones in your list must both be relative softlinks to libbz2.so.1.0.4.

It's likely that they changed to separate files if you copied them to a backup CD and back (without using a tool that preserves links).

So yes, it may work, but you are a) using too much disk space, and worse b) risking problems if the libbz2.so.1.0.4 is updated in the future, because the other versions will not get updated at the same time.

And if your scripts fail when the links are reestablished correctly, there must be another problem. If the problem lies with elf.library, we need another bugfix. But we probably need to see it recreated by you, and get an example script to attach to the bug report.

No it should be simple just run Hyperion’s AmigaOS4.1 updater tool, (not the AEON one.)
And just to avoid further misunderstandings: What you call "Hyperion’s AmigaOS4.1 updater tool" is the program with the name AmiUpdate (like I wrote in the title of the thread).

@Magic, you will need the login/pw which you also use on the hyperion-entertainment.com site, where you registered your OS4.1 Final Edition (and if you haven't, you need to, followed by getting Update 1, Update 2 and the other small updates you then would have missed).

Apart from that, AmiUpdate should handle it just fine for you.

Note: I see you have an X5000, so it already has Update1 from scratch, therefore I have struck that off the list above.

Hyperion Entertainment has released a new version of elf.library. Get it through AmiUpdate.

There's a comprehensive list of fixes in the releasenotes inside the downloaded package (which is installed in SYS:Documentation/ReleaseNotes/ by the AutoInstall).

Re: Best way to clone HDD?

@cloverskull

If the new drive is the same size, or at least you want to make the new partitions the same sizes as the existing ones, you can benefit from saving a template or profile from Media Toolbox (the menu in the Edit Partition/filesystem window). Then when you have entered the same window for the new drive, load the profile, and your partitions are set up. Then you only need to change their filesystem and maybe blocksizes, buffers etc.

I don't remember exactly which of the menu options work best for this, haven't done it in a decade or more. But try them out .

I would think you could do it with a pattern, e.g. "delete Workbench:Internet/WookieChat/Logs/AmigaWorld.net#?".

Ztools

I was using another CPU monitor before that with same results.

Okay, I'm not familiar with ZTools' CPU meter. The reason I asked is that I use the CPUInfo docky, and with that I often see the CPU usage display rise to high levels for no apparent reason, and when I then click in the displayed graph, it falls down to where it should be.

I was just wondering if there could be a similar issue with your CPU meter application.

@nubechecorre

You should have newlib.library.kmod in your Kickstart, it is part of the basic OS4 system.

If it's not there, something very wrong has happened to your installation.

Edit: Maybe you are missing the latest version of newlib, which was released after Update2? Don't know if NetSurf requires that for some reason. If so, AmiUpdate is your friend.

BTW: There is a warning on the page you link to:

I can't help wondering whether an AmigaOne would be considered a musical instrument if fitted with one of those and used to create synth music ...

The title of the Workbench backdrop window is unset, so no joy there.
Also, it's quite possible (and common) to have a volume with the volume name "Workbench:", and if you open that in WB, you get a window with the title "Workbench" - is that a problem you guys haven't considered yet?

No, of course not .

It is still there where it has always been.

Although it might make more sense nowadays to move the functionality into one of the Prefs programs.

I can boot to OS4.1 workbench with
boot -fs=amigafs ide0.1:amigaboot.of, but I have to do this in CFE every time.

In that case, try changing your

Quote:
MENU_0_COMMAND setenv amigaboot_quiet Y ; boot -fs=amigafs ide0.0:amigaboot.of

to refer to ide0:1 instead of ide0:0, then it should do the same as you do manually.

If it works, you could also make the same change to the MENU_2_COMMAND, so it also works with the boot menu.

What about voting for the name ? Suggestions are:

WBGenie / GenieWB
WBBar / BarWB
WBTopBar / TopBarWB
WBExtern / ExternWB
WBExtend / ExtendWB
WBExpand / ExpandWB
WBNavi / NaviWB

Feel free to flood at so we all can vote :)
I'd suggest WBBar (or maybe WBToolBar) - that leaves it open for whatever later ideas you'll get for new tools/buttons, and it doesn't tie it too much to the Windows Genie program.

It may seem boring, but it's always nice when a name describes what it is, no more, no less .

The RadeonRX.chip is for RX cards, while the RadeonHD.chip is for HD cards - and the latter comes in V3 and V5 (V5 sold separately) as described by jabirulo above.

@Rigo

... what walkero said

And I really think most people were just concerned about not knowing what was going on, because we are all relying on AmiUpdate to keep our systems updated. So at some point they (we) naturally started to consider what could be done if the AmiUpdate server *didn't* come back up (and in fact also wondering if anything had happened to you!).

So maybe if you had posted a few more status updates along the way?

And of course, I'm also ready to chip in.

There's a bug related to pages with login (e.g. some Bugzilla or beta tester pages) where you get an error twice and then have to do a refresh (F5) before it will accept your login.

I think we discussed it - maybe in private? - at some point after you released 1.23 r5, where you wanted to wait until the next round.

Could that be fixed now?
