If I should get answers similar to "3D doesn't work, period" again please don't bother to answer at all.

What about Radeon 8500? Its performance should be even better as the 9xxx series are "downgraded" from 8500, AFAIK.

Is the Radeon 8500 compatible with A1-XE/OS4.1?

According to THIS TABLE the best choice would be Radeon 8500 or 8500 LE (which is almost the same as 9100). Are those compatible with OS4.1 and its composition feature?

@AmigaPapst

Yep, that's why I asked for the link where I can buy the 9000, preferably the PRO version with 128MB of memory.

@K-L

Any link where to buy? Together with OS4.1 if possible.

At http://shop.alinea-computer.de/ they have both, but the gfx card is not PRO and holds 64MB of memory only

Okay, is the Radeon 9000 better (or the best) option for the OS4.1 at the moment?

Couple of questions...

I read that Radeon 9000 is faster than 9250. Why Hyperion recommended 9250 for A1/OS4.1?

If the 9000 is better, where can I buy it? What's the difference between standard and Pro version?

Somewhere I saw the 9000 comes with 64MB of gfx memory. Is that enough for OS4.1?

What do I gain if I buy 128MB version? And 256MB version?
Does OS4.1 make use of it somehow? For what?

Thanks!

Perhaps, but it provides an alternative to just sitting around doing nothing while waiting for something that may never come to pass.

Magellan is/was great indeed, but it grows older by the day. It might just be better to build something ground up that is more suitable to todays needs than trying to bolt stuff onto it that it was never meant to handle.

Like I said, I understand your point here but no alternative will ever be accepted by someone who's hooked on Magellan, you know

Seriously, I would rather help with the port of Magellan if that is possible. Only if I knew the status or whatever. Maybe some bounty? But again, there's lack of information, lack of communication... Maybe if Andreas can assign the port to someone else or make it open source, anything? The quietness is killing me.

Well, instead of waiting four more years. It would be nice if ami603 could get some help

This kind of functionality should be in the OS anyway and not be a separate download+buy.

Well, I understand your point however you compare the uncomparable and bring off-topic discussion here, IMHO.

Okay, this is taking too long.

Almost 4 years to port the software? Seems the project is dead. It would be fair to inform us, at least...

New AmiKit Add-on has been released. It lets you switch between the green (new) and blue (old) theme for AmiKit. This includes the default startup images, wallpapers and window patterns.

In addition, there are several mirror sites where you can download the AmiKit installation archive if the primary download location doesn't work for you. Many thanks to those who provided the mirrors!
