I had this problem too, and at the recent ANT meeting the guys there came up with a solution which involved writing a script which would call MPlayer with an increased stack size and which could be used with any deficon (avi, mpeg,etc) personally they lost me the minute they started typing but give the group a shout and they should be able to help you.( http://www.amiganorththames.co.uk )

looking at the compatible hardware section on IntuitionBase.com there seems to be a Scsi card listed. However the uploader does note that it will not work with UBoot 1.1.1 . The hardware section most probably needs updating and maybe others know different.

Thanks Jan, I can immediately see the difference, boot speed is great and the grahics are very sharp, a lot of work has gone into this and although I bought the CD from you when I saw you at Pianeta Amiga I am glad I waited for the update rather than trying to re-install, you have made easy work of updating a lot of software, thanks once again.

Solid thinking Rudei, maybe a date in Jan or Feb might suit people more.Some may not get their OS4 until Christmas Day or maybe an extension to the area club meets if there are OS4 beta testers present maybe they would lend a hand or oversee those of us who are not so knowledgeable.

Sound Idea, I am not a developer but as an end user I would still wish for an auto-update feature in OS4.
In fact I would like to see incorporated to include all programs keeping the option to choose to install of course.

there is an article on IntuitionBase.com giving several tips to reduce the booting time of OS4. This article was writen for the Pre-release version but I think most of the info still applies.

update on my previous post, I had a pm from another interested party and had to look at Intuitionbase for my ram stick specs ( because I couldn't be axxxd to take the cover off the tower ) and found the link was broken for some reason so I thought I would post the details on here.
I can confirm this stick has worked without problems all time I have had my A1 with OS4 and Linux.
It is an Infineon HYS72V128321GR-7.5-C2 128m X72 SDRam
PC133R-333-542-C2 1024Mb, Sync,133Mhz,CL3,ECC,Reg.
the ram chips are all marked infineon.
I bought this when I first had the A1, It is the only stick I have ever used and foun it by looking at the Infineon website, finding a supplier and direct purchase for about ? 70.00
I hope this info helps other peeps but am not sure whether stick is still available anywhere.

I am still contributing to both RC5-72 and OGR25 because they do not appear to have closed down. I don`t mind which i contrbute to as long as somebody makes a decision as to which project we should concentrate on.

screen resolution is wrong, I had same problem with a Dell
LS400 laptop whose screen res. was 800X 600 I did get amikit working but you had to catch the boot up at the right place to get a display. Up your screen res to 1024x960 or better and it should boot ok.
