Re: Flowerpot, no can do

@AmiKit

Seems not. The "Install OS4" option in FlowerPOT starts WinUAE. But it just shows a AmigaDOS window saying "Loading AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition Kickstart...". But nothing more happens. I let it just sit there over night to no avail.

@walkero

I'm online.

I read up on what a POL script is supposed to look like and realized that the supplied script was just a html representation of a script rather than the actual script. So I simply opened it up in a web brower, manually c&p'd the script from the webpage and stored it in a file and ran that in PlayOnLinux.

Everything went fine, until I realized that the "ralphschmidt-cyberstorm-ppc-4471.rom" file is 0 bytes long on the AmigaForever ISO ... ohh poop.

I'm guessing that it needs to be a bit .. larger.

I bought the downloadable version of AmigaForever. Do I need to buy the deluxe version to get the complete rom file?

Edit: To be specific, I have the AmigaForever 7 plus package. But the ppc-4471.rom file is 0 bytes long on the contained ISO.

Flowerpot, no can do

I don't seem to be able to get flowerpot to run on my Ubuntu 16.04 setup. Or more specifically, the POL install script.

I have met att the Prerequisites that are mentioned in the guide. PlayOnLinux v4.2.10 , wine 2.0-stating is available, roms and amigaos 4.1 FE iso are at hand.

I'm following the guide as follows:

1. Download the script POL_install_FlowerPot wherever you want
2. When you start PlayOnLinux go to the menu "Tools > Run a local script". Choose the POL_install_FlowerPot file.

3. Follow the instructions. You will see a message about the signature of the script, that it is not valid. Ignore and continue the installation.

4. Follow and approve every step

At step three I go through the following steps:
- At the warning about signature I press "Next"
- The html-script is displayed with an "I agree" checkbox.
- I select the I Agree checkbox and press "Next"
- The window with the script is closed
- And the ... nothing .. nada ..

Anyone who knows what's going on?

As always, I am able to pay for this myself but it is always nice to get some help on the way :)

If you want to help out then use the donation link available on the OS4Depot website .

Maybe a new entry in the "Software Support" forum would be possible?

That's really up to the author(s) of the enhancer package. If they want a support forum here then we'll be happy to add one.

Don't know if you can jam those into it.

I'd probably just trap all the relevant illegal OP's first that runs into stub code for each OP.

And then either start implementing one OP after the other or if it's feasible borrow the OP implementations from those other soft-fpu's. Together with a framework for holding the FPU register values, flags and whatnot.

Re: OS4Depot and FTP uploads

@ChrisH

I've made the field case insensitive now.

I checked the code and you can leave "replaces:" empty provided that there is no previous file with the same category and filename.

Beyond that it's not possible to detect if a file is the first upload since that would be the same as stating the wrong filename.

Edit: I suspect that you were able to upload with no replaces field before because it didn't think that OdysseyLauncher2.lha was the same file as odysseylauncher2.lha (linux file system magic) and thus treated it as a new file.

Anyone who knows what would be required for Hyperion to directly support qemu with OS4.x? Besides lacking the will to do it that is. An official OS4.x on A.l.i.c.e. without having to go through classic emulation would be nice.

License issue perhaps?

Reminder to anyone using the Contact option
Supreme Council
Supreme Council

I'd like to remind everyone that when you use the "Contact" link on OS4Depot then your message is completely anonymous unless you provide some way of replying in the content of your message, such as your email address.

I often get Contact messages on OS4Depot with requests and questions but with no information on how to reply to the messages.

Sometimes people provide a name or an alias, but frankly I don't have time to scour the internet to find a way to contact the supplied names or aliases.

So please, if you use the contact link to send OS4Depot a message, then don't forget to supply a way to reply if you expect an answer.

There have never been "accounts" on os4depot. There's a lot misinformation on how moderation on OS4Depot works and it would be nice if people stopped creating their on personal (un)reality around this issue and instead just asked me how it works.

Anyway, people doesn't seem to want anonymous uploads on OS4Depot and this is the result.

Either people accept anonymous uploads or people accept more control. There can't be both.
