@xenic

This sounds like real hell, and definitely doesn't happen here on my new SAM440ep/667MHz. Three days in full use, no video glitches at all. Maybe it's just OS4.1 that needs to be updated for the SAM Flex?

That's the point of the openamiga.org project. But I believe the final say is Hyperion's.

Nice one, thanks for the update! Too bad I won't be able to try it out for at least a fortnight (moving house this week, next week in London). Aaaarrrrgh, can anybody say "Amiga-addicted"?

Take care,

How good is the resizing of WarpView?

It's quite OK, actually. You can select from four different resampling methods (the best being the default), and the resizing quality is definitely sufficient for preparing web graphics.

While a complete graphics suite like Photogenics or ArtEffect is surely a more universal tool, on the PC I found myself needing just IrfanView most of the time. That's why I came with the WarpView suggestion - works for me.

(Not mentioning the fact that by paying the humble $20 you support an active Amiga developer.)

I only use it to rezise images.

Using Photogenics only for image resizing is a bit of an overkill, isn't it? If resizing and/or cropping images is all you need, why not try WarpView? It is OS4 native, cheap, and works very well.

I'm not trying to persuade you, I'm just passing on what the author posted on the mailinglist this week. You may not be satisfied with how PageStream progresses, and frankly, neither am I! But if all you can do is sneer at people who are trying to be helpful you might as well get a life somewhere else.

Yeah, back at the uni I wrote all of my seminar papers plus the final thesis in Wordworth 5. I really enjoyed the program, and it worked for me well.

@Snuffy

What do you mean by "buying software locally?" Like in "buying it in your local computer store"? I don't know how things go in other countries but here in the Czech Republic street shops with computers have almost disappeared, and if you bump into one, they usually do not stock software. And certainly not _Amiga_ software

Yes Wordworth is old (yet still functional). It you want to support the development of a more modern, OS4-native word processor, please consider donating to the Cinnamon Writer project at www.desler.be .

You're, however, wrong with PageStream. Version 5 is still being developed, it's only been on hold for a year or so because the Windows and Linux versions had a higher priority. Now the author has confirmed resuming work on the Amiga version, and an update is due soon(ish).

AFAIK OS4.x uses a completely different, text-based keyboard mapping format.

@Rigo

No that didn't help. But the following placement of CHILD_MinHeight did, at least in my OS3.x test GUI:

...
LAYOUT_AddChild, HGroupObject,
LAYOUT_AddChild, StringObject,
GA_ID, GID_STRING,
GA_RelVerify, TRUE,
End, /* string */
LAYOUT_AddChild, FuelGaugeObject,
GA_ID, GID_GAUGE,
GA_RelVerify, TRUE,
FUELGAUGE_Ticks, FALSE,
End, /* fuelgauge */
CHILD_MinHeight, TRUE,
End, /* HGroup */
CHILD_WeightedHeight, 0,
...

Thanks for the tip, Rigo!

Re: Fuelgauge height

@orgin

You're right. I've removed the gauge ticks, added a button to the HGroupObject, and it now looks like below.

The button and the gauge are forced to the same minimum height while the string gadget is a little smaller than the two. This is under OS3.9. Sorry I'm lost here, can't help.

AFAIK string gadgets are never proportional vertically, their actual height depends on font size and is fixed (at least that was the case under OS3.x). So it is the gauge that is made the same height as the string in my example.
