Thank you! I try my best not to have an "accident" anywhere important... Hopefully, these nice people will be there to pick up any unfortunate droppings...

So what should we be compiling for....

Hi everybody,

Just playing around with Vice the other day and as it's not complete yet (missing dialogues) I was thinking of having a quick hack at the missing features myself. This got me to wondering....

Should we (I) be compiling anything for AmigaOS 3.x as well as AmigaOS 4.0? Surely we want more people to adopt the 'new standard' but there are still a number of users out there who can't afford or get AOS 4 capable machines.... For that matter, should I be compiling for WarpOS too?

Note that doesn't refer to Vice itself as the authors are doing a grand job on that anyway, I'm thinking more about other programs.

As a (related) side-note - I've found a tutorial on UtilitityBase.com which tells me how to install a cross-compiler for AmigaOS 4 under a un*x system (i.e. MacOS X and/or Cygwin, Linux et al) - what should I do to be able to cross-compile for AmigaOS 3.x (m68k and preferably WarpOS as well as I like speed. :) ) - anyone got any handy pointers?

Thanks all. :)

that wont happen, as there is no such thing as 'new amiga hardware'

if you were refering to the companies that are making hardware that could possibly run OS4, then thats a different matter.

I really support some sort of amigans.net bounty for selected projects. I am not as good at donating as I should be and perhaps this could bring in some extra funds for our gifted developers.

I don't know how it should work, but we could have one big pool of money that would be distributed to the developers... perhaps after a significent version release?

You could even sign up for a standard amount each month. 5, 10, 15 euros... So that we would know how much money to expect. It would quickly make a rather big bounty.

Well, just a suggestion. And it could well be that I am the only one who can't get around to donate the usual way.

Ferry's proposal would also work very well.

// It looks like that has been done already on some other site...

BTW, did you receive my PM about a potential candidate ?

Great! I only use TuneNet on my AmigaONE, so I am really looking forward to this release.

It seems like a huge improvement! Impressive work!

Yep! Will do! It seems like a nice site.

However, I probably missed the reason. Is this because AmigaWorld has become more... hmm... blue?

The 'repy' button is 64 colors & the 'report' button is only 8 colors.

Not sure why they're not all 256 colors -- possibly for compatibility with classic machines?

Hey there klesterjr!!

Awesome that you're here.

Woah!!!

Are your eyes bionic?

We sure have a great person designing icons for AOS4.x!

Support Amiga Fantasy cases!!!
How to program: 1. Start with lots and lots of 0's. 10. Add 1's, liberally.

Not to worry, the avatar is a left over from when I used to play SPACE webgame. My "Alliance" in the game was called Rising Phoenix or "Phoenix Rising" and because of the phoenix reference thought it was also appropiate for an Amiga site Avatar.
So, no I am not scary, unless you wanto to face my l33t sk1llz in Space :)

I think that a dev should start a thread, THEN it should be locked, and when he/she has more to say THEY unlock the thread and add another post to it. THAT WAY in one view, a person can see all progress, how it advanced.

I like that idea too. Kind of like hosting developer blogs. They can always post other related threads for open discusion, but they can keep their own news and progess page up-to-date as they please. They'd have to keep it tidy though.

So what are we talking about here? Help with the radio or the jingles? For jingles do we need jazz, rock, blues... serious, parody? For the net radio do you need resources? I might be stepping in to the 'studio' this weekend with a few ideas.
