Re: Pandmic AmigaOS 4 software request - DCRAW based datatype

@tekmage Quote: Over the last few years, I've been thinking about creating a datatype to be able to load camera RAW images based on the DCRAW CLI tool on OS4depot. Sadly I lack the skill, and I've not found a sufficiently basic datatype creation tutorial to allow someone with my meger C skills to get it done. This is something for which I'd pay good money. I'm a huge fan of the WarpDT datatype package from @futura and would love to see a WarpRAW package as well. Great idea, tekmage! -- eliyahu

MP3 player supporting streaming via https transport?

@thread Since updating to the latest builds of AmigaAMP and TuneNet this morning, I realized that most of the MP3 streams that I listen to -- that aren't now restricted to some blasted custom web-based player -- use https transport rather than http. This means that I can't use the native Amiga tools available (of which I am aware) to stream them. So... is there a tool that allows for MP3 or AAC streaming over https transport? Or am I just stuck at the moment? I asked this question over at AWN, but didn't get a reply. I'm hoping maybe someone knows over here. -- eliyahu

AWESOME! would you mind taking a moment to send a note to a certain mailing list explaining in detail which adapter you used, where you bought it, and the steps you took in getting it to work with your system? many thanks in advance!

i'm looking for someone who has actually run a USB-to-Ethernet adapter on their AOS4 system with usbadm8511.device. i've found threads where people talked about them, but i don't think anyone can point to a piece of hardware that they've actually used in conjunction with the usbadm8511.device driver? anyone?

@amigakit
excuse me, but that isn't your call to make. you replaced an OS component outright which behaves differently, and you're asking third-party developers to change their code instead?!
this is *precisely* the reason why replacing OS components can be a bad idea. offering alternatives, no problem. that let's the users and developers decide. but overwriting the official software willy-nilly and expecting everyone else to support that is a bit much.
i'm really thrilled A-EON is doing so much, and i don't want to make it sound like i'm against all of the wonderful things you guys do, but you aren't hyperion. you aren't the OS vendor. either everything you replace must be 100% backwards compatible, or don't overwrite OS components. IMO, of course....

@jabirulo so i took your advice and installed on the local RAM disk. still getting a freeze on launch. here is what is in the amiphoto drawer, both on hard disk and the RAM disk:

dunno if this helps, but AFAIK the installation is fine. i got the archive directly from simon neumann at alinea because the serial numbers he kept giving me wouldn't be accepted as valid on his support site. -- eliyahu

does anyone here successfully run amiphoto from alinea computing on their X5000? no matter what i do, it freezes immediately on launch with no debug output on the serial bus. i'm not sure if the issue is with the X5000 itself, AOS4.1 FE, the filesystem, etc.
can anyone help here? any feedback is appreciated.

@kas1e
for the prism2 driver i used a netgear MA311 and for the atheros 5000 driver i used a d-link dwl-g520. both worked great on my pegasos2 system. the netgear card even worked in my old SAM -- but both cause crashes on my X5000 when the wirelessmanager tool is run.
