Never, in the field of minor computing platform, have so few, owed so much to even fewer.

I am talking about the people who write/port software for our beloved platform without much reward, Wookiechat, TuneNet, AbiWord, AmigaAmp Evolution etc, etc, etc.

These are some of the Amiga platform's greatest unsung hereos. Well, I would like to honour them. I would like you all to nominate Amiga programmers that write software/utilities/icons etc for the Amiga without asking for a penny

What I will do, is create a page, which will be linked from Amigans.net front page (Orgin doesn't know this yet) With a list of the people, what programs they are responsible for and a link to their paypal account.

I am hoping that other Amiga portals will also link to this, basic page (All links from will be mentioned, not just amigans.net)

Then, if you download a bit of free amiga software and you enjoy it, you may wish to consider sending the author a little "Thank you"

Please help me, remind me who should be included, I don't want to miss anyone.

No matter how much he tried to forget about it, he couldn't.

The guilt and sense of betrayal was overwhelming.

But every once in a while he'd hear that soothing voice, within himself, trying to reassure him. "Joe, don't worry about it. You aren't the first doctor to sleep with one of their patients and you won't be the last. And you're single. Let it go."

But invariably the other voice would bring him back to reality: "Joe, you're a vet."

Nelson Mandela is sitting at home watching TV and drinking a beer when he
hears a knock at the door.
When he opens it, he is confronted by a little Chinese man, clutching a
clipboard and yelling, "You Sign! You sign!"
Behind him is an enormous truck full of car exhausts.

Nelson is standing there in complete amazement, when the Chinese man
starts to yell louder, "You Sign! You sign!"
Nelson says to him, "Look, you've obviously got the wrong man", and shuts
the door in his face.

The next day he hears a knock at the door again.
When he opens it, the little Chinese man is back with a huge truck of
brake pads. He thrusts his clipboard under Nelson's nose, yelling, You
sign! You sign!"
Mr Mandela is getting a bit hacked off by now, so he pushes the little
Chinese man back, shouting: "Look, go away! You've got the wrong man. I
don't want them!" Then he slams the door in his face again

The following day, Nelson is resting, and late in the afternoon, he hears
a knock on the door again. On opening the door, there is the same little
Chinese man thrusting a
clipboard under his nose, shouting, "You sign! You sign!"
Behind him are TWO very large trucks full of car parts.

This time Nelson loses his temper completely, he picks up the little Man
by his shirt front and yells at him: "Look, I don't want these! Do you
understand? You must have the wrong
name! Who do you want to give these to?"
The little Chinese man looks very puzzled, consults his clipboard, and
says:

"You not Nissan Main Deala?"

Thanks for your kind comments, yes, some "Kiddies" from other sites have indeed signed on here, but the difference is that our Terms of Service for this site are very stringent, step out of line just once and those kiddies can find their accounts locked forever.

And yes, we do know how bad things are, but as you said, there is no point in bleating about it. That said, the occassional exasperated post, isn't forbidden, just as long as its not used to beat certain companies or individuals as a stick. That is not what this site is about.

Most of the Amigans.net staff actually own an AmigaOne and actually USE them on a regular basis. Of course, You don't have to own an Amiga computer that can run OS4, to post here, but the majority of people to whom this site appeals to, hope to be able to one day (soon, I hope)

Was discussing this on IRC the other day, wondered what everyone else's is..

Stuff, I wish I could run on OS4:

1: Open Office
2: Full Featured Web Browser
3: Remote Client to Amiga (i.e. Allow me to use my Amiga remotely from Elsewhere in the world)
4: MacOSX emulator from OS4
5: Microphone Support for Internet Audio streaming

That would pretty much mean, I would only switch on the PC for something specific and not every day.

The point is Elwood, that myself and many others want the platform to move forward what you describe is a platform that is stagnant. You'll be using an OS with no new hardware, no new updates, no new Software etc.

We badly need to be able bring back those who have left and want to come back, those who have left and don't know that the Amiga is alive, and finally, eventually, bring in people who have never heard of the Amiga.

The way things are at the moment, the Amiga platform is going nowhere.
