@kas1e
see billt's answer. The project started as a bounty and many people donated to it. That would not be fair if I would just put the sources on public repository at least not without aksing them about a refund or a transfert to another bounty.
@billt
wxWidget *can* appear as native... but only if the native "wrappers" are written and provide the same level of functionnality as what wxWidget expects (else you still have the solution to create a theme which will mimic the native aspect). Now Qt *can* theoretically also be skinned to look native. But that would only be a skin which IMHO is the best solution. Anyway I can understand your POV especially if you are looking after some specific apps.

Yes, I'm still here.
As I stated that's not that I declared defeat rather than admitting that I lost motivation and the fact that I don't have enough inner knowledge on BOOPSI classes to do the right choices. If someone is willing to continue I'll gladly give information, advises etc. I may even do some more code, but I won't be able to finish that myself alone and seing the bounty amount I think it's more honest to allow it to be continued rather than keeping "hostage". Also in my programmer's view Qt is better tought and implemented than wxWidget . Now that Alfkil did the Qt port I see less interest in wxWidget.

@kas1e:
except billt no one contacted me to request sources as of today. Billt is the one that proposed the bounty in the first place, so I think it's more entitled to have the sources than anyone else, moreover I think it's part of amigabounty 's team so sources are not lost. In case billt doesn't do anything with the sources I'll send them to Troels (Amigabounty's member I have dealt with up to now). I won't put it on any public source repository because it will then inhibit the bounty for any other candidate and as such would defeat the bounty itself.
@Kimmok
wxWidgets was very important back in the day because of the reasons you are giving. But in the meantime alfkil did a tremendous work on the Qt port and IMHO Qt is a far better designed library than wxWidgets ever will. wxWidgets (whose name was originally wxWindows is trying to mimic Win32 APIs with most of its caveats).

Also Alexandre needs some support on wxwidgets - maybe he can give some status update?
I didn't work ion wxwidgets for a while now. My A1XE breakage really give a halt to this project (which was on track back then), after that real-life took over and each time I tried to resume something else came to prevent me to go much deeper. The good news is that I hold out all my compiling sources to billt just over a month or two ago. He didn't contacted me again yet about it, but if he's motivated enough. I'm sad to say that for multiple reasons, the first is because I'm confessing a failure (and a failure is never easy to take, at least not for me), the second, and maybe the one that has more importance for me, is that I feel guilty toward each of you that donated to this bounty because due to my failure I have the feeling to have cheated you, or even worst to have ripped your money. Please be sure I'm sorry about that, but be assured that in the future I'll stay away of any bounty as in the Amiga I'm looking for the fun, not the money, and apparently money can't motivate me more than I would be with a fun project.

They are quite different beasts, automake builds makefile for make (and compatables) whereas CMake is an entirelt different build system.
IINM, last time I checked CMake was able to generate files for a range of IDEs and this included standard makefiles.

@Olaf
I don't understand, I thought there was already a company that managed to get source access in order to port it to AOS4 (wasn't it GuruMeditation.se?). In all cases I think the biggest problem would be to find a developer to work on the port, and if you know someone, maybe he could try to contact the aforementioned company...

I ported ISpell to AOS4 back in the days, and compiled most (if not all) of the dictionaries present of OS4Depot. If you wish I can provide you with the dictionaries sources (must check the licence though).

@Fab
yes of course you are right. But what I was referring to was mails sent to him directly by individuals, not just some mailing lists. It was just an illustration I was taking. Indeed it might not be the best indicator, but having spoken with him for some hour I can assure you he has his hands full with many different projects.

I spoke to Eric myself and Eric is really a very very (very) busy man while we were speaking he had his mailer opened and he was receiving mails from all over the world at least one every 10 seconds. And I'm not speaking about SPAM here, but people from Read Hat, OpenOffice, LibreOffice, etc. On the other hand he was very confident in the possibility to achieve an Amiga port. He does not see why it would not be possible. One thing that was annoying him was dmake on which Corto (Matthias) was working on, I didn't follow the thing once Corto finally arrived (on the Friday IIRC) but they worked on it almost all the time (days and nights). I have no other information (I was stuck at the X1000 stand

To save problem with servers downtime I can only advise you to use one of the official pool aliases. See http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Servers/NTPPoolServersSome examples: * for the USA, use us.pool.ntp.org it's composed by more than 590 servers, * for Europe, use europe.pool.ntp.org it's composed by more than 1500 servers, * if you want to be more specific you can even opt for the national pool, for example for France use fr.pool.ntp.org it's more than 140 servers. All those aliases are made of public servers who have volunteered to be in the pool, there is no restriction on their use.

@Niels It seems you are a medium reading in the mind of the Date shell command utility because I can't see in any documentation associated with it a mention of this 'PREFS' keyword I think you have a documentation bug.

That's one of the best (if not the best) Amiga news I have ever seen since a very long time!! An official Amiga portable is something I've been dreaming for ages. Count me in that's sure. To all involved: You rocks!!

Maybe but surely it has USB ports. You just need an USB<->serial converter there are plenty out there for a cheap amount. The good thing with this cable is that you'll then be able to debug your own software a lot easier using IExec->DebugPrintf() Quote: Deniil wrote: Why I have it running is because AmigaOS lacks a hibernation mode. When I'm coding or whatever I have tons of windows open with shell output and everything and I very much like to leave it at that so I know where I left off, otherwise I'll waste half an hour trying to remember what I was last doing. Sometimes I even forget that I even was doing some project and a week later when I remember it again I have no clue what I had done and not done and everything will be full of bugs because of half-finished code
As Chris I prefer the "nice breakpoint" solution because in my experience leaving things as is hoping I'll remember what I was doing/thinking/aiming proved not to work for me. Instead I prefer finishing what I'm doing before leaving, as Chris it sometimes means going to sleep late but at least I've finished what I was doing the way I planned it. I also abuse of log files, and TODO. Oh, and my editor supports sessions saving/restoring so I can restart with the same files opened when I resume. (my editor is CubicIDE).

Just out of curiosity what's the point of having your computer turned on if you don't let it run some long computing or task and instead you stop monitor and HD? I understand that the fact it's locked up might denote a bug somewhere which can be good to find and fix. It would be interesting if you could have it hooked up via a serial cable to another computer.

@Chris I've found the problem you were referring to. I'll probably release a fixed version soon. @walkero I don't know how Peter Gordon did in PFTP but SFTP is a lot more complex than "just" tunneling an FTP session in SSH (which is already tricky by itself because of the nature of FTP protocol dynamically opening channels) see wikipedia to understand SFTP is a different protocol.
