Have you tried disabling DMA on your harddrives and doing it? I pretty much run with DMA dissabled on my uA1 due to crashes when dealing with larger files if I don't. Also, have you tried setting the stack bigger? If your using ffmpegGUI there is s tooltype to do it. I think interally it is set to 500,000 when launching ffmpeg so I would think that would be sufficient. It's might be worth a try though.[/quote] I'll have to try disabling DMA next time I do a coversion. I have the stack set to 10M.

@ktadd Why waste a thread, put it to good use. I've put several 2 part avi files together, but I have 2 that crash mencoder when it gets to the second file. I can ignore the grim & it finishes, but it doesn't play right in DvPlayer. FFmpeg also crashes my micro on big conversions most of the time, but at least now I can do an offset & join them. I found another ffmpeg option not listed, -vol xxx, to boost low audio. -vol 200 = x2, -vol 500 = x5, etc. Some videos have low volume.

@ktadd
Grabbed it, thanks. I know others have asked before how to join video files together. I found the command line for mencoder to do this.
mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy -idx -o output.avi video1.avi video2.avi video3.avi
Some torents come in 2 parts to fit on 2 cd-r's, I use the above line to make one 1.5GB movie file. Just put quotes around files with spaces & add paths. You can add more parts & any video extention should work.

After os4.1.2, I did some backup speed tests to both FFS2 & SFS partitions.
SYS partition is 245Mb with 741 directories & 8533 files on a SFS partition.
Copy all to a FFS2 partition took 9 min (540 sec), same files to a SFS directory took 39 sec, almost 14 times faster.
I'll take my chances with SFS. PartitionWizard will tell you if a SFS partition is corrupt, but I've found I just need to copy everything to a blank partition, re-format, & copy back without loosing any files. Doesn't happen enough to worry about if you make regular backups.

The Battery is still the number one suspect, those 2 messages are normal, just ignore them, I get them on booting as well.
Buy a good brand battery, the cheap ones will only cause problems again sooner.

@AmiKit
Replace the cell battery, CR2032. They have a habit of decaying if the A1 isn't at least plugged into an AC source.
I wish ppl would learn to use a simple voltmeter, any battery 3.0V or less can cause the A1 to just appear to die like you described.

I added some lines to my S:Shell-startup file.
stack=3002360 setfont "DejaVu Sans Mono Oblique" 14 scale ram:
Not sure if I really need the "scale" option, but every shell uses that font.

Wow! This never happened before!
I plugged in the Canon PowerShot S2 IS with the USB cable and after spending a long time scanning it (this never happened before either) it popped up a good sized file selector window with a heading saying something about PTP and a small image of each picture with the file name under it.
When did THIS happen??
Nice!

@salass00
Your Diskimage device didn't show in Media Toobox with os4.1, it just magically showed up with update 1. Me & others thought this was a bug in Media Toobox, so I stand corrected, thanks.
Edit: Just looked at the icon tooltypes I realized I had set it to DEVICE=a1ide.device in os4.1. This was the reason I never saw the diskimage device option until os4.1 update 1. Getting old I guess...

@DaveP
Yah, embedded, I was told by a beta tester that Media Toolbox has a built-in list of devices to ignore & the diskimage device was not included in the update 1-2 build. This wasn't a problem with os4.1. You only see the problem if you install Diskimage_device, doesn't hurt, but shouldn't be there.
