Yes apologies from me for the hijack too.
I also run OS4.1 with ALL ESP components. The functionality from ESP over the stock AOS4.1FEu2 is huge.

Looking at the contributions from Hyperion since u2 it would be difficult to describe AOS4.1 as anything other than abandoned by its owner. Any real work on core AOS4.1 has been done by the amazing volunteer developers to whom us mere users are truly grateful.
Amigakit/AEON get a a rough ride which IMO is unjustified. The fact that they are here and productive enough to be criticised, starkly highlights Hyperions absence. AEON cannot please us all. To continue to invest in tying their product to a company like Hyperion would be madness. I totally get why they are trying to build an independent OS for their HW offerings.

Stability for me with ESP2.2 is good. My VA experience is poor so far though.
I cannot run the Prometheus trailer without ~66% CPU use and awful audio and frame rate hitches (DVPlayer and Emotion). I am unsure if this is an issue with my GPU or SW.

I am a long time supporter of the ESP program and welcome the continued development.

For AEON customers with X1000, is their GPU path forever officially locked to RadeonHD cards? Should X1000 owners accept that the hardware is now legacy?

The recent X1000 hack by Goos to get past CFE RX limitations shows promise to users, but a challenge to RadeonHD 5 purchases.
A hack is less than ideal if we want to be able to access recovery partitions or CD units from boot.

What of the long discussed CFE upgrade to support RX, I suspect X1000 owners might be open to paying for this?

I somehow managed to get a rogue version in my kickstart drawer which led to an immediate crash right after CFE. That I had disabled menu boot to fiddle with an RX card made getting a CD recovery disc booting something of an adventure

All fixed now with the correct PCIGraphics.card

Thanks. I reverted back to my RadeonHD card.
Serial output reports that VA works here, but the prometheus trailer has choppy sound and bad frameskip on Emotion. On DVPlayer the sound is better but frames are skipped.

Certainly feels like normal non VA video playback. Starting to wonder if my R9 270x is t as compatible as I thought.
Have ordered an RX550 from EBay. Will report back.

Thanks the Prometheus video crashes the GPU when played with Emotion or dvplayer.

RadeonRX (0): UVD not responding, trying to reset the VCPU!!!
VADecoder: error VA could not query surface status: 5

I guess the RX590 is an issue. I will borrow an RX550 to test.

odd, now I am stuck. Is this a HW issue or a software config issue?

DVPlayer reports the display method as Composited Video YUV420P (blit-stream)

So I just tried this with a PowerColor Red Devil RX590.
AmigaOS4 ESP2.2 boots and seems to work.
GPU fans running at full speed though?

Emotion VA plays Big Buck Bunny 1080 but I still get >60% CPU use.

Doom3 1.5.2 beta 1 loads, runs the timedemo and exits cleanly.
Reborn to Castle Wolfenstein runs with some purple speckles. 1080p fullscreen.

Ok, so you forgot to remove the jumper when you cleared cmos and went back RadeonHD? Sounds avoidable.

Think it might be wise to hold off with this hack for a while…
