@DJBase

On the Sam460ex had to disable compositing effects in gui prefs.

@DJBase

720p should play well .
Make sure you are not trying to play back a h.265 encoded video.

Testing on a Sam460ex 720p playback was good with DVplayer.
Emotion ends up with a crash on the Sam460ex with the RadeonHD V5 driver on the start of video playback though.

@Kyle

I am currently using the Enhancer SFS/00 for my boot partition and a few others with the Enhancer SFS/02 for the rest .
(allows me to read the partitions with the Sam460ex )

Using an old 3.5" hybrid drive .

Interestingly I don't seem to be able to get any NGFilesystem partitions to mount with AmigaOS4.1 FE update 2. Even an unformated one for formatting .
Will show up with the Emergency Boot USB thumbdrive update 1 version. but if I update that drive to update 2 then no dice.

@Skateman

It is slow with SAMBA shares.

I have a business accounting setup using Turbocalc.
The files are hosted on a shared PC drive .

@Kyle

I have a X5000/40 .

Just installed Friday gone.
So still some hardware configuration kinks to work out.

I upgraded my initial installation to update 2 of OS4.1 FE.

Using the U-boot version that it came with .
U-Boot molsen-2018-10-05 (Oct 05 2018 - 17:02:31)

Now using PCIEx1 ENVY24 card that I purchased from A-CUBE
years ago for a Sam460ex.
Expect to upgrade to a Creative-Labs Sound Blaster Audigy FX PCIE.

Now also using a TP-Link TG-3468 PCIEX1 Gigabit Network adapter.

Spend most of the day working out that the card has a conflict with My Ethernet HUB causing the computer to hang on boot.

Any general wisdom to be gleaned here ?

@Raziel

Note for you that card model 598 in the GfxBench2D data base is actually a Polaris 11 model so in reality a Radeon RX550 .

The majority of the results for card model 598 are probably from my machines .

I have an identical looking and branded card I just stared using with the x5000/40. it shows as card model 617 .
Swapped card Model 598 and Card model 617 in my machines this morning to get complete test results across my two machines .

@kas1e

Note the great X1000 memcopy score of 2,668.66 with this one :

https://hdrlab.org.nz/benchmark/gfxben ... phicsCard/598/Result/2432

Is it due to the screenmode or something else ?

All these results use what appear to be identical model cards on the outside but one of the two versions seems to actually be bit slower . but the above benchmark seems very good .

Isn't gfxbench already said us about bad raw speed for read/write and not reach the necessary theiretical limits ? Is it of the values we expect it to be ?

Update :

PCI Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 is working.
=============================================================

@Kyle
There may be some conflicts with some other PCI sound cards under AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 . Need to try to look at it closely when I have more free time .

=============================================================
Taking a rest from configuring and install AMigaOS4.1 FE on my new X5000/40 .

Mercy. Not the easiest task in the world starting with the X5050/20 ISO etc and 4 year old X5000/20 backups.

Ram issues started my problems.
Had a couple of spare modules than worked fortunately .

Then ran into a pre Update 2 USB issue with the X5000/040 .
No Keyboard or mouse.
Once I had resolved that by copying one USB kickstart file and the new SATA driver from the AmigaOS 4.1 FE 2 update files to a copy of my backup boot media I managed to get a clean AmgasOS4.1 update 1 installation. Then no problem with the AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 upgrade

Put aside my Sound blaster Live! for now.
There might be conflicts . Did not manage to get any sound for whatever reason.
Go a HTY25 pcie sound card working and using the onboard Ethernet for now.
Same low profile Yeston Radeon RX 550 mode that I am using with my Same46ex.

Of course it is not .

However the difference in results seems greater
than might be expected .

@Templario

The same binaries run ok on X5000 and X1000.

So issues may either be CPU related or PCIE bus related.
If it boils down to lack of CPU processing power and/or raw bus bandwidth then that is that.

@mr2
The reason for poor Sam460ex performance on the more modern games needs to be examined in more detail .

Quote:
BTW. It looks that ports of modern games and apps require the power of X5000 which makes the purchase of SAM460 even less meaningful.

@Kyle

The RX Cards are the ones with the more advanced features.
The latest Radeon HD SI driver that you would want for the R7 card is sold separately from the Enhancer 2.x package .

Either you have a unusual RX560 or you lucked out with the
SoundBlaster Audigy or something else has changed.
Th CMI8738 is a uses a totally different chip and driver than the Envy24 cards.

@Kas1e

What model sound card do you use on your X5000 ?

That does not sound good .
You probably need to try another Radeon RX model to
work out what the propblem is .

Could be a kernel issue though.
