I backed up my existing System partition before installing FE this weekend. I was glad to see that, after restoring my RadeonHD driver first, I was able to simply restore my DOpus5 drawer and everything worked as before. So far I have observed no problems, anyway. I have also been busy restoring various utilities I use such as WarpView and other things.

I have installed Final Edition on my X1000, and I am anxious to try the new video playback capabilities. Is there a mplayer available that will handle some 1080 playback? Latest I have is from last May.

I am using Final Writer 97 with my X1000 and TurboPrint and a laser printer. It's working very well. No mouse wheel support is a tad disappointing, but the word processor otherwise is a joy to use. Increasing horizontal and vertical Screen DPI to 144 (thanks, Severin!) in View preferences/Display makes things look really nice on my modern-sized monitor.
And, yes, I would gladly pay for an updated version of Final Writer and any of the old Softwood programs for that matter. Too bad we don't have a current TurboPrint -- that would be a winner.

Hey there! I love running the old Amiga version(s) of LightWave on my AmigaOS4 machines and classics and under emulation and anywhere. I made some notes here: http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/v ... _id=37379&forum=27#700345I made a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRoeHaAS-MIElwood made a video of LW running on his Sam440, and this is what told me it was OK to buy into AmigaOS 4.x. :) .... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5e5zwPhMClkThe 4.3 Toaster CD and installer floppy are for installing all the Video Toaster software (including LightWave) onto a classic Amiga with the Toaster card installed. You can manually get all the objects/images/scenes/texture files from the CD, but the versions of the apps (LW Layout and Modeler) on this CD will require a Toaster card to be present to run. You will need to find standalone executables of these old apps for them to work on your Sam. These are not sold. EAB is a cool place to hang out. ;) I purchased one of the last sets of Toaster 4.3 CDs from NewTek in recent years, and I also own two Toaster cards and a Flyer card. I guess they ran out of the software soon after I bought this version, which was a bit newer (but still quite old) than software that came with my vintage hardware. Anyway, I have this software working pretty well on my X1000 and Sam440, so I am happy to help. There are a couple of glitches to step around, but the software is still quite enjoyable and easy to use. Good luck!

AmiUpdate delivered me an updated PlayCD today, and whatever mojo was done to it did the trick on my X1000. Previously this player skipped when playing CDs on my system, but now it's playing an Andy Broad CD perfectly. (Nice tunes, Mr. Broadblues!)
Thank you to the PlayCD fixer. It's working very well here.

@kilaueabart
I really do need to get busy and get my DOpus tamed like you are doing. You are inspiring me to do just that!
Regarding which screen the PDF opens on.... if you are using AmiPDF to open and display the file, AmiPDF will open wherever it is set to open in its settings. On my X1000, AmiPDF is configured to open on a public screen named "Workbench," so that's where it starts up no matter where I launch it from.
If you ALWAYS want it to open on the DOpus screen, you can set it to do that. If you sometimes want it to open on Workbench and sometimes on DOpus screen, then I don't know how to do that or if it's possible. I sometimes want to do things like that because I have two graphics cards and two monitors, so I will keep reading along.

@abalaban
Hey there! I just looked.... maybe my version of the driver is too old. Under the Pen tab I have settings for Nib action, first stylus button action and second stylus button action, but nothing for the "eraser" end of the pen.

Hey there, abalaban! A question.... would it be possible to have the "eraser tip" end of a Wacom stylus emulate a right mouse button click? This would be very useful with a program such as Photogenics, where you right-click "erase" what you paint on with the left-click (or stylus tip).

How do I edit borderless button bank in DOpus5?

Probably overlooking something simple. I have made a couple of button banks without window borders (no title/drag), and now I cannot figure out how to edit or move them. Usually I select the window border than edit from the menu.
Help! (And thanks.)

Main card in my X1000 is Radeon HD 6850. Until recently I used a couple of different (not at same time, of course) HD cards as a second card, but just started using a Radeon 9200 in a PCI-X adapter and am getting much-improved performance out of Blender using Warp3d with it over previous solutions I tried.
My Sam440ep machines are using onboard M9 video.
Thanks, Hans, for all you do.

@ssolie
To be clear, you can consider anything I've said here to be directed at those people who invest their money. They do have my utmost respect and admiration. It's certainly not a cheap endeavor on their end either, and believe me I want them to succeed. I think we can help them by doing more than keeping our eyes and mouths shut. They definitely do not want our wallets shut.

@AmigaSociety
Greyer or balder? I resemble that remark! ;)
Anyway, sorry to get all doomy and gloomy above. It's impossible for me to stay that way... it's just that this Amiga thing is one of my passions in life. No good reason for it, except it was a big part of things for me at a fondly remembered time .... and Windows and Linux suck and Mac is not much better. ;)
Epsilon, I could not have made the points better and in fact did not make them as well as you did. Cheers, mate!

First, let me be clear that anything I write that might be considered criticism is never leveled at anybody coding away into the wee hours on an Amiga keyboard anywhere. I'm more directing my points toward policymakers and policies.
I watch the forums and the usual suspects among the whiners and complainers (who usually are NOT to found at Amigans.net) seldom overlap with the paying customers or even the potential customers. I know they make a loud noise and frustrate the heck out anybody working hard to make things nice for us, but they are going to go about their whiny business no matter what. The rest of us... we can take it! :) Don't tell us a netbook is coming out in a year, not mention it at all a whole year later, and a year after that say something went wrong rather soon after the first announcement was made. Don't tell us Warp3D is coming in a few months and then leave it hanging for months and years when maybe something went off the tracks in spectacular fashion. Given a plain, honest assessment of the situation, somebody ELSE might have come up with something to help in the meantime. We recently got a top-class (it is tops in Amiga class for sure!) web browser and also the ability for the first time ever to play high-def video on an AmigaOS machine because some folks outside the circle jumped in and got busy. I count coders as well as testers and bounty payers here.
And the notion that Hyperion or any other entity is silent because it doesn't want to give false hopes is not accurate. That's because promises ARE still made... and then followed up by years of silence on progress. Enough of this cycle... let's have real progress reports. Don't say we're not entitled. This stuff is NOT cheap to buy. And it's not just money that is invested, but also time and passion and emotion.
For anybody still left who can't let Amiga go, it's more than software and hardware. Anybody left is kinda in the same boat as the rest of us. And the cause is not helped by separation of classes (developers/beta testers/users) fueled by unnecessary secrecy. I respect the heck out of all the developers. I respect Hyperion, ACube and most especially A-Eon and AmigaKit for making this hobby possible. Sometimes, I don't get the impression the users/customers get the respect back in the way it should be given, considering our situation and the small market/community size.
I don't mean to be on a soapbox and I sure don't mean to offend anybody, especially those developers/testers/businessfolk I count as friends. But I am increasingly feeling a bit antagonized by the way things are.
To be brutally frank, since I have been all Polly Sunshiny with optimism over the years in regard to AmigaOS, I think you should consider my feelings of dissatisfaction as signs of a real problem.
