Re: Odyssey 1.23 progress
Just popping in
Just popping in

@Raziel

Turning off javascript made no difference.

As a point of interest I can eventually get existing images from the blog to choose from to insert with Blogger under Odyssey Patch 7 if I wait long enough (takes a long while to appear and cpu hits 100% for a while). I can then put them into the blog ok.

However the upload image button in Blogger post editing does not work at all no matter how many times I clicked it. So I can't upload any images to blog posts edited in blogger under Odyssey 1.23 (Patch 7).

Hopefully there is a fix for it?

Hi there,

I have been testing patch 7 on Odyssey 1.23 using AmigaOS 4.1 FE on my X1000. Thanks for these fixes btw, very helpful indeed!

As you probably know I blog quite a lot so not being able to login and use blogger on the x1000 under Odyssey is quite frustrating.

With Patch 7 I can now login to blogger which is great.

However, when editing a post I am unable to upload any photos or select from existing photos on the blog.

The upload photos functionality appears, but the Upload file button is not able to be clicked on.

If I choose to select a photo from the existing blog, it locks up Odyssey for a while, and then it returns, with no images to choose from.

Any ideas?

Re: FE and Broken Cluster Geometry

@zzd10h

In Media toolbox for the hard disk, change the boot priority so that the FE partition has a higher priority. ie. BootPri=0 for 4.1.6 and BootPri=1 for FE.

That should get FE booting by default.

@zzd10h

AmigaOS4.1.6 can't see the cf card at all on the X1000, which is why it was not a problem before. FE can see the CF card now.

@zzd10h

I know this problem. Remove the CF Card to confirm it goes away.

It should fix the error message.

Basically if the cf card is larger than the formatted capacity (eg. 8Gb card but formatted 4GB FAT for linux kernels) AmigaOS seems to have issues with the geometry. Of course 4GB is the limit for FAT formatting.

You can format the CF card as Amiga (it formats it as 8GB), this also fixes the issue, but will then prevent you booting linux on it..

Other option is to use a CF card FAT formatted using the full space - eg. 2 or 4GB CF card formatted to use the full capacity.

Hope this helps.

@broadblues

Thanks for this video - very useful. I will give it a try!

Minor note that your blender web link in the original post has a trailing "." in it that causes it to fail when clicked.

Re: Does anyone use multiple menu actions?
Just popping in

Actually I use the multi-menu actions all the time without thinking about it.

It started in the AmigaOS3 days, and has continued into AmigaOS4.

Primarily I use it when changing the view in a drawer from icons to "Name" and multi-menu select "All files" view before letting go. It then changes to Name first, then shows all files. Very useful for drawers with lots of files in them like the downloads folder.

Saves having to go back to the same menu twice to get the view I want each time.

Fortunately in DOpus 5.9 you can set that view as the default view for the listers, so I use multi-menu selection mainly on the AmigaOS4 shown drawers.

Please don't take them away

Hi All,

I have been given access and full permission to try out AMIStore on my X1000, prior to it's release soon by A-EON Technology!

I have been trying it out for a while now, and written up a detailed sneak peak blog entry with plenty of screenshots of what AMIStore is all about and what to expect. It is exciting!

The link is here:

Re: SSolie quote - "Warp3D is going away"

@mbrantley

+1

The silence on certain projects (not all) is deafening, and frustrating for all concerned.

For example, members of the community having to do what we are doing right now to get Warp3D support via old supported PCI cards - using weird PCI-X converters and extenders to get around pci 33Mhz bus speeds on our X1000's to use them.

This work wouldn't be necessary except for having no idea when (and if) Warp3D support will ever come to Radeon HD cards for X1000 owners. We assume it isn't, hence the work to create a workaround recently.

The lively ongoing development of LiveForIt Mplayer, Dopus5 and Odyssey (with a lot of end user beta testing) in 2014 have been great highlights for me personally, that have really genuinely pushed forward what the AmigaOS4 platform can do. We have seen a lot of collaboration done on these projects, and they are great for building interest too! I am certainly more engaged and wanting to do more with my X1000 as a result.

More of this kind of development please, with engagement with the remaining community on ongoing developments (to make us feel things are actually happening) is the key to retaining the community's interest in the AmigaOS4 platform.

Also, we know a lot of software is BETA state (like DOpus5 was in development phase) and needs testing to refine it. This is not a tens of thousands or million plus user base we are talking about here for AmigaOS4. Why not get the software out there more regularly (in BETA form) for the community to help with that process, and make them feel involved in pushing forward the platform? It works!

Anyway, my 2 cents. I love the AmigaOS4 platform and just want to continue to see ongoing developments and progress made and communicated. I am grateful for all development work being done to push the platform forward.

Epsilon's Classic Amiga Blog
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi All,

For those here who don't also follow AW.net forums, I have been working on an upgrade of an Amiga 600, detailed in my new Classic Amiga blog. There has been a lot of work done, especially in the past week or so, and plenty of photos and blog posts!

I was inspired by the work of many people in various forums who upgraded their Amiga 600 computers and decided to give it another go myself and detail the process.

Note that I still run and regularly update my AmigaOne X1000 Blog too, but I wanted separate Classic Amiga content from it, since it is not directly related to AmigaOne X1000.

The link to the new blog is here:

The AmigaOne X1000 blog is here:

I hope you enjoy it!

@K-L

thanks for sharing the pictures. Looks like the event was a lot of fun! It would be great to put some names to some of the faces in the photos!

I was particularly interested in the photos of the AmigaOne 1200 - I guess it would have been a lot of work to do that build!

Re: Issue with QT on X1000 [Solved]
Just popping in
Just popping in

@all

I worked out the issue today, with some further help on why it happened from fellow Amiga user Sundown. Thanks as always for the help!

The issue was the libz.so.1 file in SOBJS: wasn't there. On further investigation it seems that it and a couple of the files in this folder (eg. libz.so.1.2) are links, rather than real files. As a result, when I copied all the files from one hd to another when changing my hard disks, the links were not copied across with it.

I copied the links from the original AmigaOS4.1.5 CD as suggested by Sundown and problem solved. Qt and all the apps work properly again.

Thought it was worth closing the loop on how I fixed this issue in case anyone else comes across it in the future when transferring their AmigaOS4 system partition to another drive.

Issue with QT on X1000 [Solved]
Just popping in
Just popping in

Hi All,

At the moment on my X1000 I am struggling and somewhat frustrated with Qt, which is not working at all since the move from SFS to NTFS partitions (note I didn't use NTFS for the system partition - it is still running SFS as before).

More detail on what i did with the partitions is here on my blog if you need more detailed info:

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/201 ... ith-sata-hd-on-x1000.html

I deleted Qt on the NTFS partition, commented out the Qt assign references in user-startup, rebooted and then reinstalled Qt on the system drive (SFS) which went ok, but no go to run any Qt apps. (and yes, I did put the dir SOBJS: >NIL line into the right place in user-startup..)

Qt Apps still say they can't find the lib#? .so objects they need, even though they are there (I checked the folder location) and referenced correctly as before, when it was working.

Btw I should also mention that the drive names changed for programs already installed when I moved everything to the new disks (from DH0: to HD0:, DH1: to HD2: in my case).

AmigaOS4 does not know about the changes to non-system disk files (as you would expect). I had already updated the relevant startup files to reflect the drive name change where needed prior to booting off the new disks for the first time. No errors on boot. (just to cover this off)

However in AmigaOS4.1 I note that it now uses a sys:prefs/env-archive/AppPaths folder to track any program locations across the various partitions when they are run. However, this only updates the location when an application is run. So I believed it is probably necessary to manually update each entry to reflect the new location, as the only other way is if you plan to run them all in turn to update the location. (Yes, I did this manual update last night including the Qt Apps referenced - took ages). Maybe there is another quicker way...but doing this had no effect on fixing Qt Apps though.

I am also curious if this app path information is used by AmiUpdate to work out what apps are installed to determine updates needed?

I am thinking about adding an assign in startup-sequence for DH0 to HD0, DH1 to HD2 to see if it cleans things up for Qt, which if it does would prove if something critical is still referencing to the old location. Since I reinstalled Qt from scratch using the new drive names, I can't imagine this would be affecting things, but you never know...

Please let me know if you have any other ideas on what else I can do to resolve this Qt issue? Appreciate any help.

Epsilon

Hi All from Epsilon!

Just popping in

Hi there,

I am Epsilon and a new member here on amigans.net. I am from Adelaide, Australia.

I have owned an Amiga of one shape or another since 1988, and was part of The Experience demo group in the late 1990's producing demos for AGA Amigas.

These days I am the proud owner of an AmigaOne X1000, Powerbook G4 with MorphOS, Laptop running Icaros, Minimig, Chameleon, and a number of Classic Amiga's (A2000/A4000/A4000T/CD32).

My focus for the last year or so is on the NextGen Amiga scene, and to that end I have a great time blogging about my adventures with the X1000 on http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au
I hope some of that information I post there is useful to X1000 owners on this site too.

I am a regular visitor on AmigaWorld.net, and I have been actively reading and wanting to join Amigans.net for a while now too - now I can join with the site now accepting new members again!

A newbie question - I am not sure why I can't load my usual avatar picture to my user profile? It fits the 120x120 and size parameters. I tried jpg and png versions but it doesn't appear when uploaded (and no error message displayed either). Any ideas?

Beyond that, I hope I can make a useful contribution to discussions here and look forward to getting to know everyone - a few people here I recognise from AmigaWorld, and the rest I'll hopefully get to know better as time goes on!
